Each child must endure a difficult trial.

500 million years ago, life was flourishing on our planet. Many new species were evolving and Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, was searching for a partner under strict instructions from her father, The Sun. (He’s kind of a big deal.) In order to to become Gaia’s partner in being a planet spirit or whatever, each living creature would be forced to endure a difficult trial, the survival of the fittest.

Our first chapter takes place in The World Before Land, roughly 500-450 Million years ago.

The Sharks quickly evolved as the most powerful creatures in the Ocean. Using their fearsome jaws and organization, they were able to rule the seas unchallenged. They became quite comfortable in their forms and stopped evolving. Although they were the undisputed masters of the sea, they were not cruel and life was good under the sea for many years.

Until one day when a nasty rumor reached the Sharks. Another fish had evolved a jaw so powerful it put the Sharks to shame. The Sharks became furious! Other life in the sea existed by their good graces alone! How dare other creatures attempt to out-evolve them?! That Gaia partnership deal was theirs by right of bite strength! And looking good!

The Sharks vowed that soon the seas would run red with the blood of anyone judged as being too eager to evolve. Unfortunately, the Sharks weren’t good judges of ambition, and so this lofty goal was shortened to outnumbering the rest of the life on the planet. A wise fish pointed out that this might make the ecosystem unstable, but he was promptly eaten.

What’s all this now?

This is a main Phalla for 50 players based on the SNES game E.V.O. The Search for Eden, a great game for SNES that didn’t quite get the attention it deserved.

The Theory of Evolution:

All players will have a personal stat page for submitting daily orders and viewing information.

Below your name, you’ll see your life total and Evolution Points (Evo.P). If a player’s life is brought to 0, that player will die during the night. Evolution Points can be used to purchase upgrades to your body. They are earned by staying alive and through certain abilities.

Each night you will be able to perform one ability from the abilities you possess. You may also evolve one part of your body if you have enough Evo P. Different evolutions will grant you new abilities. All players possess a basic bite that deals 3 Life worth of damage, regardless of parts.

Finally, there are different eating behaviors you can engage in each night:

Aggressive: +60 Evo.P per night, -5 Life per night

Normal: Players will receive 40 Evo.P per night. Life will not change unless attacked by other players.

Defensive: +30 Evo.P per night, +5 Life per night

Standard Phalla Rules/Mechanics:

You must vote each day. Vote in bold red for whomever you think is likely to be a threat to you. The winner of the vote will be eliminated every night. Tie votes will kill both people involved. Be careful.

In addition, everyone should make at least two posts each day. Failure to vote or contribute will lead to warning and replacement.
Vote close is 8:00 PM EST. All votes and actions at 7:59 PM EST and before will be counted, while any submitted on or after will not.

Do not directly quote anything from PMs with me, or take screenshots of them. It is okay to paraphrase role PMs however.

Do not anonymously contact anyone.

When you die you may make one ghost post which cannot contain any game information whatsoever. After that please do not discuss the game with anyone still alive.

Ask for clarifications in Bold DarkOrange. You can always PM me with clarification requests, or post them directly in the thread. If you have questions about your role you should probably use the PM method to avoid giving away info to the other players. They are *already* suspicious of you.

Make sure you invite me to any proboards you might form as well as any PMs. Do not add other players to PM conversations.

There’s nothing about you that stands out, and no abilities that are open to you other than the vote... but you know that will never cut it. You are filled with a passion to be the best fish in the ocean, and you will do whatever it takes to get there. Clearly someone will have to take care of those sharks...

Life: 30 Hp

Win condition: Eliminate all threats to the World before Land.

Order of actions: Player actions come first, followed by the vote (does not ‘trickle down’). Afterwards, evolutions are resolved followed by Evo.P gains.
