Hanging with Mild Confusion and company and we ran across, no joke, the worst player I've ever seen on Gold.
Batarian Sentinel to begin with, with a couple ultra-rares equipped (only at level 1 and 2, so he's legit).
So first off, Batarian Sentinel. Not the strongest build around. But fine. Secondly, no powers. None. Not blade armor, not ballistic blades, not even the odd net.
So this guy was clearly a winner.
As we made our way past wave 5, he spent more time on his face than he did upright.
His final total after we extracted?
11000 points.
On Gold.
I've never seen anybody score that low on Gold. Ever. Hell, you don't even see that on Silver when someone has been with you since you started the game.
Oh man, that guy was awful. He didn't even spam space when he went down, so he bled out amazingly fast.
I've seen some bad players, but this guy was legendary.

Rio was so bad it caused the entire party to disband.
I have a whole new respect for Vorcha after playing around with the Vorcha Sentinel. That little guy is friggin badass. At first i was worried about his piddly 325 sheilds, or whatever comically low number it is. But you dont need sheilds when you have bloodlust. Ive never consistantly finished in the top spot with other characters before. Like, by a wide margin. Every time. And with 7 medals usually... Feels good man.
Also tried out the Harrier and Kyrsae(?) sniper rifle in SP, and I immediately want them for MP! The sniper rifle especially... shot one guy in a group of three and they all blew up
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
We almost failed wave 10. Achire and Carbon got booted near the end of wave 9 and only Orca and I were left.
The only thing that saved us was that I was on my novaguard and it just happened to be a pizza objective. So I was able to nova cancel to the end.
Probably would have failed if not for that piece of good fortune.
Bad bad Rio!

I was also desynced for about 3/4s of the time I wasn't disconnected. So the only damage I could deal was via spamming barrier detonation. Which helped some, especially on those Phantoms, but jeeez. That was needlessly difficult, and most of the team got reduced payout...and Agusalim ended up not getting anything. Argh.
Honestly the servers and Origin seemed to be acting wonky as fuck this weekend. I'd say Bioware should give us the win despite definately not hitting the goal, because there was outside factors.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Thats right! It was Augulism and Achire that was with us. I was thinking of Carbon for some reason.
And you were like a Krogan version of Nighcrawler or something. You'd be invisible, then show up for just long enough to set off your barrier, then BAMF, gone again.

Before Earth came out I was getting an ultra-rare in like 1 out of 2 or 3 packs. Now all I ever see is rare ammo after rare ammo. And then I remember that there's like 10 ultra-rares or whatever, so even if I finally get one I'm still only at a 1 out of 10 shot of getting a typhoon.
Seriously EA, your RNG has crested the peak from "makes me want to play more to e-gamble" into "fuck it even if I spent 100 dollars on PSPs I STILL have a good chance of not getting what I want, so why bother"
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Welcome to the RNG. Your ultra-rare rate at 30-50% was well above the long term average of somewhere between 15 and 20%.
If I was running at 20% right now I'd be -delighted-

Sure, but what's your long term average? Dollars to donuts it's approaching the 15-20% mark.
Well I'm not sure that's a decent metric, since N7 items really were much easier to get for a while. We had lots of people noticing they were getting them more often.
Even so, I've got 33 ranks in N7 items, counting promotions. Theoretically that'd be around 165-220 premium packs, if the chance is 20% for 1 per pack. But really it's a good bit less, because of promotions.
Honestly I've got no idea how many packs I've really bought, but I've played an awful lot ever since release.
Just the idea that I've got a 15% chance per premium pack, and then a less than 10% chance to then unlock the gun I want to try out... And to buy say, 2 packs is at least an hour of gameplay if you're really, really farming?
Fuuuuck thaaaat
(I'd be a lot less annoyed if I was at least getting the tons of gear I still have to unlock, but they seem bizarrely unlikely to drop as well)

See if they had thrown in a guaranteed ultra-rare weapon into the allied goal I would have spent the 12 hours or so I put into exploring SP with my new guns into MP to help get the goal. But no Bioware, you give us crap and I'll choose to ignore the hours of grinding needed.
I haven't gotten an ultra rare in a while but haven't minded since I've been getting regular gear upgrades. Plus there are only a few ultra rares I'm really interested in anyway.
Little worried they're going to one day release ultra rare gear. That'd be rough.

Up until Rebellion, the long run average was around 10%.
Post-Rebellion, it was bumped up to its current rate of 15-20% (with Spectre Packs bumped up commensurately).
Post-Earth, Gear is dropping in all appropriate slots, not just the middle one. So the odds of getting it are higher than they were before. Before, the Gear drop rate was the same as the UR drop rate (at least according to my records). This is no longer the case.
Honestly, I consider URs rare enough that I don't see the point in trying to get them. If I do, awesome, if I don't, I'm not going to worry about it.
I think I'm almost done with ME3 multiplayer unless they change the RNG.
I'm tired of buying endless PSP's and not getting new characters. Out of the last 12 packs I've bought all I've got is the MQE. I've still got 9 to unlock and I desperately want 7 of them.
Fuck it actually, I'd pay 1.5x the PSP price to get a guaranteed new character pack.
Bought 2 PSP's this weekend, got a Krysae II, a Graal II, a Revenant V and Paladin I. Weapons in all the Rare slots? Fuck that. I WANT A FUCKING BATSOLDIER, BATSENTINEL, GETHGINEER, SMASHGUARD, FURY, VORCHA SENTINEL AND ESPECIALLY A DEMOLISHER FIRST. Knowing my luck it'll give me a MQI or the Shadow. =[
Should definitely give priority to unlocking new stuff at Level I first before giving upgrades in PSP's.
EDIT: I forgot, I bought a regular SP too and what was in the rare slot? A fucking Geth Plasma Shotgun I! Another bloody weapon.
So, it definitely seems like there is some kind of streak mechanic with the pack results; my arc pistol went from 7 to 10 tonight. For those counting at home, this brings my list of X'd silver/gold guns to the following:
Vindicator
Incisor
Arc Pistol
Revenant
Geth Pulse Rifle
Hornet
Claymore (okay this one is actually good, just not super useful for my favorite classes)
Also this supposed 1/5 to 1/6 chance of getting a UR in a PSP definitely does not match my experience
it was the smallest on the list but
Pluto was a planet and I'll never forget

Agreed - guns and characters seem to level up in streaks. I don't know if it would help to buy something other that PSPs but that's generally all I get because it's the best value and chance for URs. But it's just leveling up rare guns that I never use....I wish we could have an understanding of how it officially works.

It definitely skews towards what you already have
which is how I maxxed every rare gun (most I had was 4 on any rare gun, starting rares including)
and every character
except the shadow which I wanted
shadow was the last thing I got, when I had 3 customization cards left for other characters
PSP buying when you have all characters and all rare guns maxxed is not very interesting
since you have at BEST a 33% chance of getting gear
and I'm not even sure it's an even split on weapon/character/gear chances

yep, Rio is a good map and would be very easy to run in groups... if not for the random crashes.
It's bad because it constantly drops people. It straight kicks them out of ME3. Happened to us I think five times today in just one match.

This definitely sheds some light on why we're so far behind on the operation.
a lot of the hack and escort locations are pretty terrible; there's very little cover and a lot of good sight lines for mobs to shoot you from
especially when you have to escort the dumb drone along the whole length of the map
