Guys I finally get to wear a suit tonight for a party. You have no idea how happy I am, hopefully I'll get pics up before I head out.

    So, OPINIONS

I think I might hate ties. Just, like, in general. I tried to incorporate more ties in my recent wardrobe overhaul, and I've just found that by the time it doesn't feel too boring, it's too busy. I have a plain black tie that tones down some of my busier plaid shirts all right, but that's about it. I've thought about maybe trying a subtle plaid or a knit tie in more muted color- the pattern or texture should provide enough interest without being all "whoah, color!".

I'm not jumping onto the whole bowtie thing. I have a short torso and I don't know how to get around their tendency to exaggerate that. The desk workers at work have to wear them, and there's a dude built about like I am and he looks kinda ridiculous.

If you are wearing a plaid shirt you can't really throw a tie with multiple colours on it. Your best best is going with a single tone, play with texture or maybe a two tone tie of similar colours.

Usually when I want to wear a tie it's with a solid shirt. The only tie I wear with my plaid shirts is solid black. Most other solids or near-solids are too bright for my taste. Muted ties are hard enough to find, muted solids aren't much of a thing. Black works, though.

    holy smokes @Gatsby.

teach ecco how to wear a suit.

there is nothing sexier than a well dressed man (in my opinion). Although a well dressed woman is quite nice, but there is just something about a suit....

bbl gonna go put a tie on ecco.

@Grey Ghost it's a Topman suit, they have a great selection on their online store. If I had enough cash I'd also buy one of their navy blue suits.

Topman has some nice styles, but last time I was in all their suiting was way too skinny a fit for me.

When I'm out of shape (like now) it looks too unflattering around the gut. When I'm in shape, it's from biking so I can't fit them over my quads.

Slim fits I can usually pull of (just not right now- I got faaaaaat this winter), but not usually skinny, especially not by their definition.

  • GatsbyGatsby Registered User regular
That particular suit is a slim fit, but then again I have abnormally skinny legs so I'm able to fit most of their styles.

  • laughingfuzzballlaughingfuzzball Registered User regular
So I was at work earlier and couldn't get the pics to load on my phone. I assumed you looked good cuz, ya know, Gatsby.

Got home just now and damn son

The fit is slim enough to be flattering on your physique without being too trendy, the shoulders just constructed enough to do what they're supposed to do without unbalancing the fit. You could say it suits you.

No such thing as a bad build when it comes to a suit, just a poor fit.
