Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking. [Beauty/Fashion Thread]
Welcome to the SE ++ Beauty Thread/Lookin' Fine Thread/Your Mother Would Kill You If She Saw You Walking Out of the House Like That Thread/etc.
Discuss all things makeup, hair, clothes, anything that you put on your person that makes you look in the mirror and go "yes this is acceptable for outside my house." Humans are vain creatures and if you've ever walked past a parked car and fixed your hair in their mirror then YOU BELONG WITH US. This thread is for ladies, dudes, and everyone in between. Don't feel weird about posting here, we're all very nice and we all want everyone to look super hot. Let us help you look super hot, SE++.

I got lock-blocked on the last page of the old thread.
So my second favorite collared shirt shredded when I pulled it out of the washer, and my 1st favorite shirt is on its way out, too. I mean, I got them both from Target like 6-7 years ago, but damn it, I like them. Just really simple, dark colors with subtle vertical stripes, and collars that remain flat after multiple washes without the aid of collar stays.
I went out to Target to replace them last night, and holy jesus fuck
I cannot complain hard enough about how much I dislike plaid, and pockets on shirts. And they were all pastels and such.
Anyway, I've never bought clothes online before. I'm not a fashion hound, I just want some dark collared button down shirts that aren't too expensive. Nothing you'd wear a tie with, I don't need dress shirts. Where should I look?
they started as makeup threads and became beauty/fashion threads
I don't know why I am getting all pedantic up in here but it's probably because apart from posting a couple photos of dresses I just really can't get into the fashion side of it and I really want to talk more about makeup but no one talks about it anymore :c
[EDIT] never mind the threads are not in order which is how I missed them, I see this now

I uh, would talk about makeup if I knew anything.
So I guess I can't talk about it, but I will watch you monologue about makeup >.>
MakeupGeek has gone quite a bit downhill in recent months
her tutorials are still great and all, and I still love their products
but she's gotten all weird into this weight loss thing but it's actually clear she has no idea what she's talking about
she recently lost a lot of weight and got a tummy tuck and all that, and now she has a few videos of her cooking, and she did up a recipe episode for "healthy pasta"
but she says idiotic things like rice noodles are better for you than pasta because they're gluten-free, and she's trying to be gluten-free because it's "healthier" and I'm just like what no it's not where the fuck did you hear that
but yeah apparently this is "healthy" pasta because it's rice noodles instead!
on top of putting both jarrred pasta sauce and a can of crushed tomatoes into the sauce, which is like whaaaaaaaaa
I hope she goes back to just doing the makeup stuff, because she's good at it and the food/healthy living stuff is actually making her lose a lot of credibility
That isn't modern fashion, that is the art side of fashion.
oh I'm not disagreeing with that
I'm just saying it is a thing I don't get because the extent of my fashion knowledge is how to wear the stuff and style you like without looking like Kmart and Myer just vomitted all over you
I wish I could wear old poofy southern dresses or even some victorian dresses without people looking at me like I was crazy. Just going around in public doing my thing.
so yesterday was a really hard and weird day for me (today still kinda too) and by the end of it, I was pretty mentally beat. So i gave in and went into one of the cigarette and magazine stores in my area and picked up some fashunz.
that POP has that Stoya shoot that I posted a picture from, last thread. I wish I could post some pictures from it here because some of the photos and styling positively floored me
definitely going to find a way to budget for monthly pickups once i start spending money again because man oh man, i missed this. hadn't done it in forever now and also thought it would give me some good reference work to get back into drawing, which i've been missing a lot recently for whatever reason

and not a good wow
My reasoning is that it is on TV often enough that I don't need to buy it.
welcome to modern fashion

blurgh
I think I still struggle with fashion as high- or designer-fashion as opposed to individual fashion
now that I have read and typed it too many times, the word "fashion" is beginning to look weird to me
that thread title put "I bet you think this song is about you, don't you" in my head every single goddamn time I clicked on it
it was amazing

yep
it's the couture line for Alexander McQueen this season, as envisioned by Sarah Burton
i really like it, it's very Victorian and almost ecclesiastical

and definitely a good cry
Negative, Ghost Rider
try no-show socks instead?

BUT I CAN'T SEE IT BEHIND ALL THE FASHION
because I definitely did notice some of what's going on under there and I just want the head thing to get out of the way so that I can look at it
ya that would work too
still need new sneakers though
Do you like art?
Pretend it's art.
With people underneath.
Satans..... hints.....
wait
wait wait wait
Victorian, yes, because of the hair behind it and the pearl detail
but almost ecclesiastical?
in what way? like a monk or some such? in the shape or in the detail?

I just realised my new work shirt kind of looks somewhat pyjama-ish.

and it'd be normal to prefer one artform over another, right
or even one medium over another
or to straight out think that something is kinda ugly to my taste, right
because of all the artistic fashion that has popped up in recent threads, that picture is the only thing that has made me wrinkle my nose
silhouetting and details, mostly
the collection is based off hyperstylized renditions of religious regalia
the robes of cardinals, of popes
communion gowns
etc.
