Here's some weird statistics about Nic Cage; outside of 5 films in his career, he has either starred, or shared top billing with another actor. That's 68 movies after his initial launch in the industry, which means an astounding 94% of his Hollywood lifespan has been spent in leading roles - this is excluding films where he has appeared as himself. And I mean non-ensemble work - Nic Cage does not operate in an ensemble. If he does, as seen in Season of the Witch, he is obstinately the lead of the ensemble.
For a non-action star, this is a substantial figure, considering the amount of roles he's taken. And he's done action roles!
In addition, his films score from 0%-95% on Rotten Tomatoes, making him one of the most critically divisive actors of all time who still gets work as a lead in a considerable number of features that release in theaters. And despite an erratic box office intake, starring in quite a few flops, he still manages at least one major Hollywood production per year, to say nothing of his impressive independent film oeuvre.
I've often wondered why, and I figured it out. Looking over his past releases for the last decade, he's starred in action film blockbusters, independent dramas, comedies, capers, supernatural thrillers...
He isn't confined to one genre.
He is his own genre.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!

I only noticed his weirder, super-intense stuff after Wicker Man came out
before that movie I thought he was just like any other actor, albeit a talented one

and then I started to honestly wonder how he continues to get work
I also wonder how it happens
what I mean by this is, he gets offered a role
and then, is it just like a toss of the dice whether they're going to get Leaving Las Vegas Nic Cage or Bad Lieutenant Nic Cage?
does the director sign him up and just hope that he shows up in the mood to play whatever is most appropriate for the film?

if someone gets nic cage, they direct him to fit the movie
he works well with others
still can't believe he was nearly Neo, Aragorn, and Superman

Sometimes you get the Cage, sometimes the Cage gets you.
I could see him being Neo
aragorn and superman
not so much
i can almost buy it
I could see him as Neo & Superman
the idea of Nic Cage as Aragorn though actually makes me a little mad
here's Nic Cage circa season of the witch
obviously Viggo did a phenomenal job
but what if
now imagine if Nic Cage starred in it instead of zero charisma Jesus McWoodenacting
I hear he was in the running for it, but Mel Gibson ultimately torpedo'd it when he found out Cage liked comic books more than the Bible.
what if Nick Cave was Ghost Rider
there is no k
stop it with the k
i will murder all the ks

it reminded me way too much of when my mom snapped when i was younger.
Luckily she didn't go on to think she was a vampire and so on.
This is the name of my Star Wars fanfic character NOBODY STEAL IT
that's silly
he'd play blade
no, blade fights him because HE'S A VAMPIRE
