Turntables are pretty cheap, you can get them for a lot less than you paid for your speakers or your receiver or maybe even the wires connecting it all together.
But setting it up for good sound? Best be handy with your google searching.
I spend way too much money on records every year, though I also take advantage of things like the occasional Relapse grab bag. I also have planned one or two vacations around record stores, because it's something my wife and I like to do together. There is also something special about getting an album that you love signed on vinyl. I have both of my Circle Takes the Square records signed, and it make me smile every time I open the gatefold and see the signatures. Reminds me of the night I spent hanging out with them.
In metal news, the new Ghost is actually really good. Jeez.

I need to pick up ATRU and the split to have a whole physical collection (have ATRU on CD, but that doesn't count).
My first time seeing La Dispute was in a tiny venue in a different country and I brought my three albums along to be signed. Their reaction was "holy shit, we're not selling these here. This is amazing" and then spent ages chilling. Caught them the next night in a much bigger venue and Jordan gave me a setlist, which I need to get framed because it's fucking cool.

That rules! I'm not even sure CTtS had a setlist either of the times I've seen them. Going to see them again next month, though, which I'm beyond excited about.

For whatever reason, I checked out the new Armored Saint album Win Hands Down., and it seems pretty good. I've only gotten into them over the last two years or so, but Symbol of Salvation is definitely their high point for me. Gave La Raza a few listens, but it didn't really do anything for me. Most of the reviews of Win Hands Down seem to be pretty positive, especially compared to their previous album.

I saw them opening for Kylesa before Decompositions. 40ish min set
Enter by the Narrow Gates
Spirit Narrative
Way of Ever-Branching Paths
Same Shade as Concrete
Crowquill
In the Nervous Light of Sunday
Non Objective Portrait of Karma
A Crater to Cough In
Would have loved to hear Interview At The Ruins or something off the EP but I'm still glad I got to see them since I genuinely never thought they'd play Ireland. Can't imagine they'll be back within travelling distance anytime soon, either.

Actually, might as well post this here too. It's not krieg but my hobby is standup comedy and next month I get to travel to the States to perform at the same festival as Andrew WK. The idea that my dumb hobby is bringing me to another continent is something I'm still having problems wrapping my head around and I figure anyone who's ever been in a band will get why this is so ridiculous to me.

It's kind of crazy to me that I've been into that band for 21 years now. Circle, for whatever reason, didn't really hook me like the others with their current vocalist. I'm hoping the new one is good.
You're not alone, I thought it was a pretty bland record, though I have friends that seemed to think it was the best thing to come along since the wheel was invented.

On another doomy note, Ahab have teased out one of their tracks for the new album; and I must say I am liking it a lot on the first listen. Their sound is bigger than ever and the clean vocals are strong as fook this time round.
Found a youtube video for it, but the sound quality doesn't do it justice. Still worth a gander though.
So errrr, video may be definitely NSFW, scenes of dudes waterboarding ladies...
Pretty interesting Romanian album, has some members from more obscure black metal bands, but these guys play a sort of progressive, folk-tinged avantgarde black metal with even a little spoken word feel in verses. This was from 2013.
This might be blasphemy, but could we change the title from Hesher?
I know for myself I must have looked past this thread hundreds and hundreds of times before curiosity got me to take a look and I found out it was actually about metal.
Could be that there's a bunch of other metalheads on the forums that don't know about it yet too.
Effigy of the Forgotten is great, my favorite. A lot of folks do love Pierced from Within, but I'd also say that the last two, Blood Oath and Pinnacle of Bedlam were really good, and even would be impressive as starting points since they've got the better production.

On the contrary
It is krieg

The slow dirge of [Hesher] rumbles eternal
This is more of a doom thread than a thrash thread, tempo-wise
Some real good sludge shit here

We can, and then they'll probably change it right back.
Actually it's quite nice having another term for it. Now we need one to replace use instead of "gamer".

neo-pagan hesherites?
A bit too elitist but it made me chuckle.
Or just another amazing song title. I propose:
[hesher] Unsilent Storms in the North Abyss
Steam | XBL
Also, the new Nightfell is streaming, and it's good: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/nightfell-album-stream
[Hesher] Killed By Death
[Hesher] Deaf Forever
[Hesher] Back At the Funny Farm
edit: I've been listening to Dark Angel today so I also toss "Darkness Descends" and "Death is Certain (Life is Not)" into the ring
I vote this as well. Any filthy dissenters not want to use a Motorhead title?
Also:
[hesher] Die You Bastard
[hesher] Keep Your Powder Dry
[hesher] I'll Be Your Sister
[hesher] (We Are) The Road Crew
Or an album title, of course:
[hesher] No Sleep 'til Hammersmith

edit: leaning towards the latter

Yep.
