[Xbox One] Come On, Jump in! Over One Million Served! Gamertag List in OP
Posts
My mouth tastes of donner meat and chips, last night was mental, pretty sure my housemate hooked up with a tiny fitty, the dirty stop out.
Hilarious moment down the pub, a couple of dudes I know were like "who the hell would seriously buy the new xbox?" I put my hand up and was like "me! Fuck you dude! It's coming Friday!" Much lolling ensued. Goes to show though, they were still in fixed-mindset E3 mode. I pointed out stuff about the OS and games they weren't aware of, and after a minute they said how the xbox sounds pretty cool actually, but will probably buy PS4, why aren't I buying PS4? I said yeah I'm getting one of those too at some point and again much lolling.
MS have a LOT of work to do still!

Those fights looked awesome.

Can you translate this into American for me

My roommate has it set to the original KI announcer, which is the exact same sound files with a little added reverb to cover how crappy the sound compression was fifteen years ago.
Hearing the old school ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA COMBOOOOOOOO! (COMBOOOOOOOOO! COMBOOOOOOOOO!) when you pull off some swag is pretty great, I'm not going to lie
This is not the real nubfizz. The real nubfizz died in the congo in 2009.

My mouth tastes of [cheap meat... similar to say, hot dogs in concept... where pig/beef/other is lamb/other] and [fries], last night was [crazy], pretty sure my [roommate] hooked up with a tiny [attractive girl], the [bro-slut idk?].
"My mouth tastes of lamb, which I bought from a dubious establishment who shaved it off a rotating stick, I had a crazy evening. My housemate appears to have been successful in courting a small, attractive lady as he didn't come home."
For visual reference here's a picture of a takeaway Kebab, it rotates:
See, you guys get the Xbox One first, whereas we get a stick of sweating, rotating meat.

Oh, we have plenty of joints that offer the giant rotating tower of questionable meat.
Furthermore the Kinect no longer has to be connected to the OP for it to function.

You use a phone maps app as a mini map, that puts a GPS bead on your character... you can call in military strikes via special apps... people will text you.
In many ways it sounds like the phone from Grand Theft Auto 5, but removed from the game, which just makes it seem much more immersive, AND lets you fuck with the phone in one hand while holding the controller in the other, letting you read texts while running away from zombies.
This feeds my ADHD in the most delicious of ways.

yeah, it looks like the shawarma meat from the halal stands we have all over NYC.
Shit is delicious, but possibly the most unhealthy meat you can put in your body.

Trivia: Tacos al pastor are the same thing, but translated to a local preparation!
the Dead Rising stuff does sound interesting, but as a recent PAR article shows, it could also go very wrong very fast. i really hope that it works better in the full game that it seemed to in a controller demo situation, but i'm a bit weary at the moment.
of course, either way i fully expect developers to learn how best to use the tech over time and find interesting and imaginative ways of implementing it into games.
Curiously enough, I don't have this issue.
Well, sort of: no one was getting the new PS4 either at my job (to be fair, I work at a library, with much more down-to-earth types, I suppose). It was not "dude, you're getting the next Xbox? Loser!", but "You want to get the new consoles? God, why?". None of them cared about the PS4 either.
It's easy to forget that we're literally a section of a audience that, in turn, is a fraction of the general electronics-buying population. I don't know if that's something Microsoft (or Sony) can necessarily change, or if that's just the nature of the console-launch game.
I also was in a 360 party with a guy who had preordered an XB1 but had no idea what Titanfall was. I was flabbergasted.
The gaming market is so huge now that massively successful launches can happen with a tiny fraction... Like, 1%, of the current market buying in at launch.

Almost everyone knew about the new PS4/Xbox, some were getting a PS4, some were getting a X1, some were getting both, and some (like myself) were planning on waiting a bit.
Can you even afford an Xbox one? Figured you were skipping this because you are terrible.

If I can afford your mom, then I can afford an xb1 dont you think, son?
P.S i'm your dad.

I hate to be "that guy"--but were these actually sold or shipped? I don't doubt the PS4 could hit a million, and good on Sony for it, but to this day, I don't think we get PS3 sold number, just the shipped number. Are these basically interchangeable? Does Nintendo and MS not calculate sold, just shipped?
Yoshida made a specific point of saying "sold through" which leads me to think they actually are saying "sold to people"
Funny that they can give those numbers when they want to though, considering they never do, lol.
But again, the truth is that if they put a million units into the supply chain right now, they will sell all 1 million of them.
Same for Microsoft. As many as they make, they will sell, at least through the holidays.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
A million isn't too unbelievable.
they're claiming sold not shipped, so a pretty impressive launch. obviously MS's day one sales will be a bit different with them launching in various territories simultaneously. i don't see them matching the 1 million in NA that Sony's managed, but i think they'll have the momentum to close the gap in the run up to Christmas. i don't think either company will be lamenting over their sales figures.
But there are exceptions, I guess. The WiiU was, at least for me, easy to find the week of launch. And I spotted a PS3 for a friend of mine two weeks after launch when I happened to visit Wal-Mart and i knew he wanted one (one he didn't find it first, I don't know). But PS4 (and Xbox One, I assume) are flying off.
Well, you have to consider population destiny and wealth in areas.
I mean when people say stuff is sold out everywhere...I think it moreso translates to, "really hard to find".
Also, I believe the PS3 had a pretty slow start and I know the WiiU did.
If this was true, you figured we would be hearing a lot more about that as we get closer to launch, right?
Either way, I am glad I have my early preorder.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
A very middle-of-the-income-road college town is as good a place as any to gauge this, I suppose. Anecdotally, of course, but this was multiple days in a row. I think the WiiU was the anomaly more than anything because of branding confusion.
That said most of the time you only end up waiting a month at worse and I'm sure they'll have more systems out by Christmas.
Yeah I haven't heard anything about manufacturing problems in a while. So fingers crossed they worked out the kinks.
On one hand, anyone buying these systems day one probably has access to hi-speed internet and by the time the second or third batch comes out those updates should be pre-installed.
On the other hand, I could still see someone without reliable internet getting their hands on one.
I guess it depends on how much functionality is tied up in the patch. I know for the X1 doesn't it need it to be able to operate offline? That seems like an issue to me.
there were also rumours of the new Kinect being unresponsive and the UI being glitchy and nowhere near ready. i'm not putting much stock in any rumours regarding the One right now. only a few more days and we'll all find out.
Also, future games (that weren't pressed before the final update) may very well have system updates on the disc if they are needed for the game to work.
This is stuff they dealt with last gen and handled well enough.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
I want my free Ryse.
I guess I'll just preorder it.
my point was more that everything that's meant to be ready for launch appears to be, even if its not the final build we've been shown. of course there will be patches and updates day one and beyond, but right not it seems MS have everything primed and ready for launch day and i'd imagine that goes for production too.
I will totally watch you play it on twitch if you buy it. I am still super way of that title, but willing to be convinced.
