Welcome to the Nintendo 3DS thread!
MCJjd.jpg

Behold the New Nintendo 3D!

XOqSzL0l.jpg

The "New Nintendo 3DS" has been announced. Short, but sweet details below:

Slimmer design

Faster CPU

Wider field of view for 3D

Micro SD Card slot

Better quality screens
new Nintendo 3DS has custom faceplates (the XL does not)

And here's a quick video to prove it.

This is the thread for general 3DS discussion. To keep the conversation from getting too busy, try to look for other threads before posting about something in here. For example, the eShop Thread is a good place to talk about Nintendo digital store. Big game releases like Mario Kart or Zelda also tend to have their own threads. There's no hard rule against discussing those games in here, but this is a nice place to talk about smaller titles that would be unable to sustain their own threads, and obviously those larger games can easily crowd everyone else out. Finally, don't be discouraged from making game-specific threads if you feel it warrants attention. This is sort of a catch-all thread.

Free games via Club Nintendo:

Nintendo is now allowing players to buy download games for their Wii, DSi, and 3DS via the Club Nintendo website. All first party games, and some third party titles, offer codes that you can enter on the official Nintendo website. Fill out a survey and earn coins (and an additional follow-up survey for extra coins). The coins can buy a variety of posters, cases, and various neat stuff. But the games are where it's at. Every month, Nintendo is offering up four games to download.

Featured Applications:

Nintendo Video: A free download app that randomly adds short 3D movies to watch. Blue Man Group, College Humor, and Dreamworks have all contributed.
Netflix: Link your account to your 3DS to watch (2d) movies on the small screen.
Hulu Plus: Just like Netflix, link your account to watch TV shows on the go.
3D movie recording: Record up to 10 minutes of 3D footage and upload it to youtube.
Game demos: Download demos of upcoming 3DS releases.
System Transfer: Transfer information from an existing DS, DSi, or 3DS to a 3DS. Great for when the inevitable redesign hits the scene.
A full list of additional built-in software can be found on Nintendo's 3DS site.

Other final things to do/know as a 3DS owner:

Sir Ultimos has created a friend code matching system for us to easily connect with each other. Check it out: Sir Ultimos web site and friend code matcher.

So, unraveled the secrets of the Azran Legacy yesterday.

...Y'know, I still love the Layton series with all my heard. But my god, that last 45 minutes... I'd almost think they were doing a parody of Futurama's "All my Circuits", which was itself a parody of "All my Children". Good gravy.

My copy of Layton is in as well but I still need to finish off Bravely Default and start Lightning Returns at some point...

I need like a 2 week extended holiday so I can just cut down my backlog...

Yeah, I saw the first twist coming a mile away, and it worked. The second one I was OK with. The other two, though...

I've mentioned it a few times. I only have a few hours in it, though. I haven't been able to play anything consistently for...months, really.

I like it! I just want to play it more, which I consider a compliment.

Well, it's certainly got songs. Usually sung by either some enthusiastic Japanese dude or some rather bland English guy who nevertheless has to sing along to the enthusiastic Japanese dude's music.

Tokyo, Japan – March 6, 2014 - Today, Genius Sonority, publisher of interactive software, is proud to announce the downloadable title, THE 'DENPA' MEN 3: THE RISE OF DIGITOLL, for the Nintendo 3DS platform for release in the summer of 2014.

About The 'Denpa' Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll

THE 'DENPA' MEN 3 is the third game in the expansive RPG series where players catch and form parties with Denpa Men to conquer dungeons and explore a vast world. In the third iteration, the Denpa Men you are trying to capture can now fight back by throwing colored balls at you, but players have new weapons at their disposal such as an antenna to capture Denpa Men.

    Who are the "Denpa" Men?

The Denpa Men are mysterious creatures who appear around radio waves. Find Wi-Fi signals or scan QR codes to find Denpa Men, and use the AR “Catch” feature of the Nintendo 3DS to make them part of your team.

Each Denpa Man is unique in its appearance, stats, and abilities. The possibilities of their variations are limitless. It is also said that among them exists a very rare kind of Denpa Man.

    Key Features:

    Continuing the adventure
THE 'DENPA' MEN 3: The Rise of Digitoll can inherit data from the previous two games THE 'DENPA' MEN: They Came By Wave and THE 'DENPA' MEN 2: Beyond the Waves, allowing players to start a new adventure with characters they’ve captured previously.
    Personalize to your hearts content
Once the Denpa Men join your party, they come with their own highly customizable houses, where the interiors can be decorated to their liking. Decorative items can be exchanged with other players.
    Share your Denpa Men
Deploy the Denpa Men not currently in your party to other players around the world. Or, if you need a little help on your adventure, borrow a Denpa Man from someone else. If your Denpa Man is high in demand, you might just earn a little cash on the side.
    Go shopping
Connect your 3DS to the internet and shop with players from around the world. You might be able to trade better items for better prices than the in-game shop.
    Battle over the Network
Enter the coliseum to pit your Denpa Men against other players around the globe.
    Make some memories
While on your quest, hold down the L / R buttons (simultaneously) anytime to snap a shot of your characters. These are stored on the SD card, so they can be transferred and shared anytime!
Official THE 'DENPA' MEN 3 Trailer:
    http://youtu.be/Dwd-8rt6kuA

THE 'DENPA' MEN 2: Beyond the Waves eShop sale
In celebration of THE 'DENPA' MEN 3 coming to North America, we are proud to announce that THE 'DENPA' MEN 2: Beyond the Waves is going on sale for a limited time in North America & Europe: 3/6 ~ 3/13

    Demo
A demo for THE 'DENPA' MEN 3 will be available in May. In addition to giving players a sneak peek of the game, it will allow them to transfer their progress to the full version upon release. Note that the demo version can only be booted up thirty times.

For those who, like me, have come to lament the passing of the Megaman Zero and ZX franchises, here's something to get you pumped. The Director of the Zero games seems to have struck out on his own and decided to do what he does best with Inti Creates.

After I beat Bravely Default I'm looking to pick a new game up and I have a three way tie at the moment between A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. I haven't played a Mario game solo in years and I haven't played Zelda since Phantom Hourglass (which I wasn't too fond off).

Help? (I already own Fire Emblem, M&L Dream Team and Pokemon X as well)

    Truth.

I hated Phantom Hourglass, and haven't liked a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time (on the N64). I loved ALBW, it's a ton of fun.

I'd like to offer a counterpoint and mention that I really enjoyed Phantom Hourglass.

Okay, but we're making recommendations for a guy who didn't like it.

    Get ALBW.

I liked Phantom Hourglass as well, but A Link Between Worlds was just better. That isn't really a knock against PH, ALBW is better than 99% of video games.

You didn't even update the OP! Gettin' slack, Dover.

Hmmm....good point. Obligatory request for new games to be added to the OP so I don't have to hunt for all of the amazeballs titles that came out last year.

I was really hoping we'd get Happy Kirby since Japan got Angry Kirby this time, but I guess he's just an angsty pink puffball internationally this time.

Hm, maybe Europe will get Happy Kirby.

    Or Sad Kirby.

    Or Confused Kirby.

    Or Thirsty Kirby.

    Or Sleepy Kirby.

    Or Peckish Kirby.

    Or Indifferent Kirby.
