I love everything about DCAU Question but I think my favorite throwaway gag is when he's going through the refrigerated warehouse and pops open one of the barrels and goes "as I suspected! Thirty-two flavors."
It's kind of hard to make something as good as the DCAU considering how groundbreaking and influential it was to animation on television. I guess the only way to surpass it is if they made a superhero cartoon that could compete with prime time live action shows.
Literally the only minorly disappointing thing about Winter Soldier to me
was that they wimped out at the last minute on actually killing Fury. I like Fury. I think Sam Jackson is a good Fury. But that would have been a good dramatic death for Fury in the MCU.
Given the presentation, it was pretty clear what their intent was.
If we're supposed to find out that he really did die, they wouldn't have believed he was dead, and given the audience reassurance in one form or another that he was most likely still alive.
Then, oh shit, turns out he's really dead, damn.
Instead, we got "FUCK HES DEAD. okay we need to move on and focus on what's happening now, etc"
The fact that they moved on from that event as quickly as they did meant it was guaranteed to be a fake-out, and from his "death" scene onward, it was just a countdown to when we find out he's still alive. At least for me, it was.
Young Justice is great but I can't remember any really amazing episodes or two parters that's on the level of "Heart of Ice," "Almost Got ‘Im," "Two Face," "The Late Mr. Kent," "Apokolips... Now," "Twilight," "Starcrossed," etc. Also, it doesn't have any comedic episodes like "The Man Who Killed Batman," "Mxyzpixilated," "The Greatest Story Never Told," etc.
Does that stuff all the damn time. "Hm, i think skrulls are invading, better fake my death so i can find out." At this point when he really dies, no one will even believe it.
Seriously though, The Green Lantern show was way better than pretty much anyone expected it to be.
Bruce Timm produced it and put the same love into it that he does into all the DCAU stuff, and were it not for the fact that the movie bombed horribly, it'd almost certainly have gotten at least one more season.
After catching it on Netflix I was super bummed that there would never be any more episodes.
Considering how much stuff gets leaked, I wonder if Marvel could even keep the death of a major character under wraps. And Coulson doesn't count since he's not really a major character. Plus they brought him back.
As for Green Lantern: TAS, since it takes mostly in space, it could conceivably be part of the DCAU. It would fit better in the DCAU than Teen Titans and a lot of people consider that to be part of the DCAU.
My favourite Question moment is him singing some terrible pop song as he breaks into a building.
Oops! I done it
Told you how I feeeeel

Aside from that one, a great moment is also when Batman mentions that he's been using him for an investigation, and everyone at the table just groans and rolls their eyes.
looks like that Marvel Pogs Anime at least has the characterizations right
It's a super consistent thing and the best part of the show
part of Tony's plan to beat Loki involves livestreaming their fight on the internet
Cap is partnered with the aloof loner kid and tries to show him he doesn't have to be alone, and they bond while discussing Bucky

I love the DCAU so much
really, the only thing that super-bugs me about it is their version of Superman. Considering how many other DC characters they made the more or less definitive interpretation of, it's a bit of a shame that their Superman waffles around a lot, going from being kind of bland and ineffectual, like a stereotype of a well-meaning but out of touch dad, to being kind of growly and aggro in later seasons. I don't know why nobody at any point couldn't have handed TImm and his writers a stack of Morrison's JLAs and gone "just do this."

winter soldier kinda telegraphs a lot of its plot, on a second viewing

Anywho, I just watched Winter Soldier again and one bit I love is
It was so cool to see they apply the logical extension of what you could get when you really combined all the league's powers like that.
And then his return was just incredible. They just threw everything they had at him, and they couldn't even slow him down. He was basically a God.
Also, Robert Picardo was a fantastic casting choice.

Also a pity he didn't cameo in the finale.
