tinder has been pretty good to me. i think i like it more than okcupid, because all i want to do is meet people and have a good time and maybe smooch if it comes up, and people on OKC all seem pretty obsessed with details and whether or not you use twitter the same way they do or like to take showers instead of micropore sponge "power bathes" and the messages are such time sinks for abysmal reply rates because guys outnumber girls on it a zillion to one and uggggh
with tinder at a glance i can see how you choose to present yourself in your pictures and have a pretty high success rate of seeing who i will vibe with based on that and if we match blammo, let's get drinks or get coffee and it's as easy as that
i do not know how it's come to be that i'm more comfortable with the platform that has a reputation for casual hookups. i'm a big slut??
I know I missed commercial chat, but I REALLY hate negative commercials. If you have to spend tons talking about your competitors products then it probably means that just showing off your products doesn't work because people don't want them.
i feel hipsters are pretty benign across the board, but i've never considered them particularly well dressed
there is for sure a certain 'style'
but it's pretty neutral. some people look good in it but others do not
i guess my thoughts are more accurately reflected by 'better looking'. they take some care with fashion which helps- tho yes, plenty of times the clothes don't look great. but they're also generally not wearing baggy khakis and sporting middle manager goatees. they are fairly good looking people (at least vs a lot of the chubby, angry 30 somethings who constantly mutter 'fucking hipsters')
huh i always assumed it was silly young nerds on the internet that always made hipster jokes, you're telling me that everyone is getting in on the fun?

douche bag is probably the insult i disagree with most often. it largely seems indiscriminate.
How do you mean indiscriminate?
not applied rigorously or with any consistency, not measured, not considered- just sort of thrown at the wall with the hopes it will stick
(pretentious is a good analog. that word is overused as fk- it's often used without discernment)
To me, douchebag is reserved for someone who appears better than average, earns more money than average, puffed up and on a high horse while still acting low. You hear 'rich douchebag' more than you hear 'broke douchebag'.
i'm not really saying that our generation has failed to arrive at a definition for douchebag- just that we use the word unevenly. without a specific example, sure- i know what a dog is and what a cat is. i can tell you what they are, definitionally. but when shown a cat you'll get all these people saying 'jesus look at this fucking canine sitting here'
(here tho the cat is a human male and the canine is the word douchebag, used whether or not it's accurate)
There is a gay hookup app? As distinct from dating?
Regardless, the design is just terrible. They should redo it to not be hideous.
i love you skfm
I love me too.
But seriously, it's ugly old ios6 iChat but with a gold interface and, for some reason, a black background. Why would someone do such a thing? Does the creator hate the gay community?
i'm just surprised you've never heard of grindr
I have not heard of many things. Here is what I think is hot online now:
Reddit - people post increasingly esoteric pornography. If you think your sub reddit isn't porn, it just isn't your fetish. Site designer is literally Hitler.
Instagram - people post pictures, I guess? I don't really know what this is.
Pinterest - people click on arts and crafts for some reason. No really sure what clicking on them gets you.
Facebook - endless drama and intrusions into your personal life.
Tumblr - people just repost other peoples content forever. Only one person ever created something original on tumblr and the rest is all just reblogs of reblogs.
Twitter - people text message the whole world at once.
Then from chat I understand that there is a thing called tinder which is basically hot or not but you talk to the people you think are hot?

My favorite definition of hipster is "someone who judges others for enjoying something 'incorrectly'".
It's great because then if you call someone a hipster that makes you a hipster.
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb

I guess people also like spotify, which means they must hate albums because it doesn't support playing an album. I shared spotify. I loved MOG. Stupid beats replacing it with something worse. Maybe apple will fix everything.

this ad emphasizes ostentatious consumption but notice that all the neighbours (representing the viewer) have the same white picket fence and lawn - that is, a douchebag here is acting above his class and gets karmically humiliated for it

Just installed Yosemite. Hey, Apple realized that literally everyone who knows the shortcut holds shift in OS X to silence the quacks when adjusting the volume with the keyboard. Now the behavior is inverted! Volume adjust is silent with a new little pip pip pip sound only if you hold shift. Also the interface is pretty.

Reddit - people post increasingly esoteric pornography. If you think your sub reddit isn't porn, it just isn't your fetish. Site designer is literally Hitler.
Reddit is a website for a variety of subjects. It isn't uncommon for famous people to answer questions from fans on threads there.
Pinterest - people click on arts and crafts for some reason. No really sure what clicking on them gets you.
To admire art online.
Facebook - endless drama and intrusions into your personal life.
The drama relies on which posters you speak to on it. Yes, it can have toxic sub-communities but you'll get that from any online forum, some which are worse about it than others. FB is run by rich assholes that want to accumulate data for their own purposes, like any other corporation. They're just bad at hiding it.
Tumblr - people just repost other peoples content forever. Only one person ever created something original on tumblr and the rest is all just reblogs of reblogs.
They don't simply repost, which is the equivalent of an "agree", it's short form blogging - like formspring.
Twitter - people text message the whole world at once.

fascinating. i can't think of any racial stereotypes relating to how people deal with ex girlfriends
everyone is probably too sad to think of them whenever it would come up

I have been told that Japanese people treat breakups like a divorce. So your ex girlfriend is simply dead to you.
Not sure if stereotype. We we have any Japanese to confirm?

Usually when you are dating a Japanese lady, friend time with the opposite sex is frowned upon.
Breaking up basically means cutting all communication.
It can happen suddenly.
It is a bit disconcerting.
