It took me way to long to figure that out and I felt super dumb when I figured it out. Still though. Nothing will take away my smile that dog gave me

For real though, this game is incredible. I've laughed so much!
Early-ish story mission
Also, air dash is a game changer. Holy shit!
Also, question. The version i picked up was a day-one copy from Gamestop, so i got the dlc meele hammer weapon. but I cant figure out how to actually equip a new meele weapon. Do different meele weapons even matter when it comes to damage or is it purely a skin change?
Also, I feel that the first Buck National challenge is meant to stay Silver until I level some more amps/weapons/etc...

I felt that this challenge was supposed to stay Bronze...until I looked up at the Leaderboard and saw the ridiculous score that @nicopernicus came up with. :P
Its amazing.
I'm not exactly feeling the bommerang gun, I mean its amazeballs at robots but kind of middling against OD, but I think I'm spoiled by the amazon hotty shotty.
Also this morning I unlocked a fedora, finally I can tip my hat "m'lady!" Hilariously it was on a mission where the main character complained about the music and so it changed.

Mind, I'm not the biggest fan of sandbox games. I play a lot of them, but finish few. However, over in Sunset Overdrive, I've put a solid 17 hours already and I don't want the story to end and I don't want them to stop giving me challenges, either.
I think my enjoyment is related to the tightness of the game. It's not paced out like a 100 hour plus game world in which you can be anything, climb every rock and pick every flower. The actual gameplay is leagues better than you get in other sandbox games and it looks better, too.
The attention to detail is great, too. Stuff like when the revolver is out of ammo, a flag pops out with "BANG!" on it. I'm also seeing new respawn animations even after all this time. Just in time for Halloween, the last time my character died, she came out of a TV all creepy, Ringu style.
I'm playing this like I expected to be play Bayonetta 2 and I'm surprised at just how good this game is in just about every aspect.
A tip for kill challenges like for Buck National or for weapons:

The blowers spawn from and go to the same places each time. Enough of them should come out of the dumpsters on the high platforms to satisfy the first couple rounds of kills. When you have to kill more of them, they jump down to the dumpsters on the ground and hop back and forth. Just pop them with the flaming compensator and keep moving. It should only take one shot each, if you have the overdrives for OD damage and fire damage active and upgraded, plus single shot damage.
They do, but I was trying to do it without the air dash, now that I have that it'll probably be easier to navigate. That plus the lightning epic power will probably make it my bitch next time.
I swear its so easy in this game to get lost in doing challenges, picking up collectibles and side missions, thats why again I advise people skip all that shit until you get air dash!

But then the reviews started to hit and I read a couple and thought... okay, sounds like the traversal wasn't quite executed perfectly, sounds like the "humour" gets a bit tedious.
Well, I'm only up to the propellor-finding mission, but it seems like the complaints I've read are garbage. This game is perfection. The humour, the gameplay, the controls, the gorgeous robust whenever-the-hell-you-want character customisation, the everything... Flawless. My GOTY for sure. And a few days ago I wouldn't have believed that was possible in a Borderlands year. I'm pretty sure SunsOver will end up being one of my favourite games of all time.
If you've been thinking about buying a One but haven't pulled the trigger yet, watch a few trailers and gameplay clips... if they appeal to you, I think this game is a worthy console seller. Rarely do experiences so packed with pure, effortless fun come along.
also, i'm not normally bothered about character customization, but damn it if this game doesn't make me want to play pretty princess dress up more than any other game ever has. i've changed my outfit more times in this game than i have in pretty much every other open world game combined.
so yeah, loving this game!!
i honestly cannot fathom how anyone would complain about this games sense of humour, it's been spot on for me so far. oh well, no accounting for taste i guess.
Follow-up Edit:
I was dressing my dude up with the feather boa for halloween.
The game barely acknowledges it! Did they pop off during the rescue? Did he eat them to survive? What happened?
Also the best humor in this game is in one of the side quests you'll know which one so do them.
there's also the total lack of loading when entering any of the (admittedly few)interior areas. In fact i don't think i've seen a loading screen in-game at all. Not even any stuttering or pausing when traversing the city.
You'll have to be more specific.
Most of the quests are funny. I've laughed at loads of gags in this game, even on replay.
Sunset Overdrive is easily one of the funniest games I've played.
I usually cringe at most games' attempts at humor. But I'm not surprised that Sunset is funny to me, since there are plenty of genuinely funny moments in the R&C games.
