what if skull kid killed link's horse and the epona you get from the ranch is the alternate universe version of epona
what if
not that
But how would you ever knowwwwwww
Would you fail to know yourself in the mirror? Would you fail to know your best friend?
You have walked with her across the barrier between worlds, and together you trod the length and breadth of the land of the gods beneath your feet
How could you not know her
I'm glad we've found a replacement Stupid Argument for "What gender is Zelda when she's Sheik?"
You almost got me to talk about how this argument is about sex rather than gender, and how perfomative gender makes the gender question stickier
Almost
Wait
FUCK
It's not a tough question at all. The answer is, "Whatever gender Shiek claims." End of discussion.
I'm literally making jokes about how this argument is a really dark place, not inviting more arguments
Sheik never claims a gender
And the argument was never actually about gender at all
I'm not arguing. I'm just saying, if the question is about gender, there's a de facto answer to gender questions. There's no "debate" to be had there.
Oh, I see
Well, that creates an interesting dynamic for a character who never claims gender, right? Is gender an internal thing? Is it dictated strictly according to our performed adherence to gender roles? If gender itself is a construct, how does the rejection of a construct identify a person? Is it a valid mode to assume gender of a person at all, when someone does not identify a certain way? If not, is it ever valid to assume gender?
the weirdest thing about sheik is why people thought s/he was so cool
boba fett of zelda
Girls disguising themselves as badass warriors are usually pretty cool. They're right behind "girls who are badass warriors without disguises" in coolness. Occasionally equal or greater depending on the particular disguise and reason for wearing it.

The way I see it, gender is mostly a social construct. If you lived in a society that didn't assign appearance and behavior expectations to specific groupings (ostensibly based on genetics), the idea of gender would probably not even make much sense to you. There are tons of people who reject binary genders, or the concept of gender at all. It really isn't ever valid to assume gender (or at the very least, it is quite rude to do so) although our society makes it difficult not to.

Agender
No but for fictional characters maybe
I mean like you can just be ready to correct yourself if you're wrong
Look sheik is wisdom they're not here to be a badass necksnapper
They gather important information and pass it on to you
while it's never really addressed i've always felt that there's a certain amount of overlap between the three triforce holders
sure link may have courage, but he possesses the wisdom to solve all those fucking puzzles and the power necessary to vanquish evil
zelda has wisdom, but must be courageous in the face of evil seeking to subjugate her and her kingdom, and is generally represented as being fairly magically powerful
ganondorf possess the wisdom necessary to manipulate others, and the courage to conquer
their manifestations of the other two aspects are coloured and influenced by their primary, but they possess all of them

Definitely, the Triforce is meant to be whole and the domains of the goddesses (raw matter, laws of nature, life) all complement each other
Skyward link can hold the whole triforce because he has all three in balance
You see this was back in the day before Wind Waker came out and made the Multiple Link Theory explicitly canonical, so even though it was generally understood that the different Zelda games generally involved different Links - it was accepted at the time that there were three, basically one for every two games up through Majora's Mask, and then the Oracle Link was also LttP/LA Link - there were still some people who woudl argue about that
And boy would they get mad about it
I remember this one fella, he had a chip on his shoulder with regards to the whole th

The blood of this thread is on your hands.
Possible genders of Kirby: Amorphous. Pink. Adorable. Kirby.
no when I'm shiek I'm shiek im not zelda
she never asserts that its a different person
and she identifies as female so
I don't really get it
steel-drivin'
OK now we're going to talk about Sheik in the context of Judith Butler's writing on gender performativity
that's like asking what gender Ping from Mulan is.
I mean, he was a dragon-man
or maybe he was just a dragon
Look there's like no canonically explicit genderqueer characters so people will take what they can get
That's why this argument was never really about whether or not Sheik is male or female or genderquer or agender or anything else
It was about whether or not Sheik had a penis
I know this is a joke post, but, why does it have to be a binary choice. I mean, physically he's obviously a combination.
