I think those are a fox and a tanooki respectively which are pretty big mythical beings in Japan. I don't have any idea why they're on top of those buildings though.

Alright, that Splatoon direct got me more interested in the game. Probably going to focus on countering the snipers in whatever way possible.

Really every non-hero in the Mario universe is loaded with dramatically more character traits and style than the shitshow of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toad, Toad, and Yoshi. Compare Wario's animations in the Wario Land games with anything Mario's done ever.

During the setup the game pad lost connection to the console at the slightest thing though, like setting the game pad on my lap

The Gamepad apparently uses a modified version of 5 Ghz band wireless and is supposed to have a 27-foot range
It's in a little wood entertainment center thing but it's got a pretty roomy pocket it is sitting in so I don't imagine that'd be fucking things up

If they're in the gameplay in some fashion, they can't be their own character in that game
