Also. I'm slightly annoyed by the lack of Diablo villain support characters. Because I would really like to see a HOTS Diablo Universe Heroes vs Villains fight.
D3 is loaded with warriors, and then there are two assassins (Butcher and Valla), two specialists (Abathur and witch doctor) and one Support (Monk).
Is there any Diablo villain that would make an interesting support character?
Somebody in this thread suggested Adria earlier, she's a notable character and has a good iconic demon appearance.
Enchantress, Auriel, Deckard Cain...

Edit: Oh, Templar too. Of course. He's like the very definition of "support" in D3, all dem healz

Man when Aba totally wins a game it feels sooooooooo good.
But man as strong as symbiote is its fucking obnoxious how small an area that is and how people are completely unaware they need to not dance way out of each others area. I think it should have at least a 1 second delay on breaking so they can slightly wander out of its barely more than melee range and not break it.
It's more that I don't feel like he's that effective at what he does. I don't like chugging for the 2 second shield, standing still, etc. Granted I only got him to level 2, which--remind me again why talents are fucking gated?--means I only got the rolly thing, but when I play another warrior I don't mind diving in: I just use my escape to get out but I don't feel like I have that with chen.
You mean Hivemind? Maybe they haven't played Abathur, type it out for them.

Oh yeah hivemind, the 20 talent that makes the hat work on two players. Only if they remain suggestively close.
By that point the fighting was too fierce to do so, but considering it was one of like 4 games today where every single thing I have typed falls on deaf ears and chat is dead silent, it would have been a bad use of my time anyway. I had already reminded them that they can be a little braver when I hat them because every time I switched to someone they were running from an even fight. Though at least Valla finally started to notice late game and won a 1v2 with it.

I think the original comment was about evil supports for a full on demonic team.

I've been very disappointed by Hivemind when I try it. The distance the two people need to stay from one another is far too small to be useful.

Disagree.
It's not too hard to stay within reach if you know what you're doing (and if something happens and they spread, it's only a ~4 second cooldown).
And in return for constricting their movement a bit, you do twice as much damage and healing. Literally, the level 20 talent is basically "double all your numbers". It's great.
as someone who just hit level 40, the idea that people who are level 40 should know what they are doing is not at all accurate
Compare what you know now that you are level 40 to what you knew when you were level 1. Contemplate.
Oh, I knew plenty coming in, the amount of research I did into DotA meant I got a grasp of what was going on very quickly
that said, I'm still not good
Also, after getting frustrated at enemy Abathurs constantly ruining my day as dive-heavy burst heroes (been playing lots of Zeratul and Sonya lately and his hats just completely nullify them), I went ahead and rage bought Abathur for gold. He was pretty fun in vs. AI.
But holy hell how do people have such good map awareness in QM when no-one is communicating? Should I legitimately be watching the map more than screen if the thing I'm hatting isn't on the brink of death?
When I'm on Aba, I spend a huge amount of time watching the map... keeping an eye on the map means that you can QB for the rest of the team and ping warning/direct traffic when people are running into a gank or haven't noticed solo enemy players in need of a ganking.
I actually have a really hard time keeping my map awareness up when playing non-aba toons, because I actually have to pay attention to what I'm doing in lane/teamfights.
Edit - I also didn't turn on that new click through mini map setting they put in... being able to click no the map to check on your teammates health and positioning is pretty big for emergency hatting.
I got in a few matches today and I think a good fix for poor teammates is just a bit of positivity and direction.... had two matches today that had really bad comp balance and some players that were obviously kinda new, but manage a couple of really big comebacks just by giving some advice and trying to coordinate everyone... had a typical 5 minute GG from a really bad zeratul and it started a cascade of GG, game over already nonsense... I fired off "too early for a GG. Couple of teamfight wins and we can easily pull this back in for a win. Type less/play more and try not to die."
We ended up winning that match on gardens because of some aggressive positioning, winning a couple of teamfights and letting people know things like "no, we don't need mercs right now. push the core and we'll win it before they're up". Stuff like that.
I totally understand that we're all gonna play with that 9-year old who facedives an entire match because we're all noobs and his illidan is the fucking awesome, but with all the new players in the game I think a little direction and some positivity will go MILES towards improving a shitty game.

The click through the map only applies to right clicking, you can still left click with that setting on it just prevents you from accidentally casting somewhere else if you need to hit something on the bottom right.
I think HoTS bugged and cleared my daily. Also no card mount yet. Not sure I will use it on anyone but Zag though maybe Anub. And Azmo if he does the arm thing he does on the carpet that is amazing.
But I did get 3 decent games in.
First the brightwing with randos.
Then the ever lasting game on Kerrigan because Dragonshire. The map where team fights are more 2v2s because of the Shrines. I almost soloed a Chen+Kael on Kerrigan. Chen killed me at the last moment as his ult came off cooldown. I was sad.
Then a Nova game. I should try to get her to 10 this week. I am half way through 9 and having at least one master skin would be nice.

The cooldown is 4 seconds if you spam the hat, but most of the time you are sitting on someone trying to at least save them or get some damage in.
And before you can even drop all your spikes, they'll have moved far enough apart to remove the second hat.
The only way to get decent uptime is to drop the hat and reply ferquently and that's just not efficient.
Chen is beginning to give me hives. Decided to knock out my "play warrior 3 times daily" in vs AI. Ended up losing all 3 and AFKing the last half of the last one just because every time there was a team fight, the friendly AI would disengage and run while at full health when I was surrounded. Almost to 5 with him, think I'm going to get him to 5 and forget he exists.

Never do dailies with AI teammates. While there are some human players that will get stomped by the AI, they are thankfully not the majority.

Not saying the bolded quote is wrong... just that another view of it is that the hat cooldown resets the ability cooldowns when removed/applied so it's actually more efficient to swap hats for the spike burst and heal/shield. The stab cooldown is the only one that's faster than the hat cooldown, so you lose stab uptime by re-hatting but gain uptime on the other two abilities by doing so.
If you've taken the spike radius at one and the spike heal or slow talents, re-hatting adds utility (heals/slows) at the cost of stab throughput.
Depending on what's happening late game, I like re-hatting with the tandem hat as it can refresh hats that have gone out of range and means more shields and spines flying around. Once you've dropped the charges on stab it and have everything else on cooldown you can create more opportunities for clinch shields or slows by swapping hats.
Oh hey, this game finally works with my graphics card. I guess I should start playing it.
From skimming a bit of the thread, I hear Anub'arak is considered good again? He was my most anticipated character for a while, but after all his cooldowns got nerfed I started to worry that Muradin might be better at, like...everything. How do they compare to each other in terms of niche?
Had a warrior daily today, so I figured I'd try and get Chen to lvl 9 with the XP boost.
No wonder people are in here bitching. Free Chen + Brightwing/Kael/Kerrigan means you can't drink which means Chen is shit. Chen can't do dick all in games with this much low cooldown CC.

Anubarak is more disruption, Muradin generally more survivability and damage.

This is kind of Chen in a nutshell. A lot of his utility and viability plays around chugging his brew, and if he can't do that, he suffers. Pretty much all of the most commonly picked HL characters can prevent him doing it (Anub'arak and Muradin are stun machines, Brightwing can polymorph, etc). You can play off of that a bit, actually, by using him as cover for other high priority interrupts. Like Li Li, for example; she can much more safely use her healing ultimate when Chen's on the team because enemy players are likely to blow their CC on him, rather than her.

As Steel just said, oh god yeah please never play with ally AIs.
Though odds are one of your human allies will not be better than an underwater toaster, the other mates will be there to pick up the slack.
AIs are almost as bad as random pubs in QM when soloqueuing.

Ok it's probably hidden away in this thread somewhere (maybe even on the front page) but since I'm lazy;
So I'm still newish to the game. Just hit rank 10. Malfurion is only like level 8 maybe? I have illidan at 4 or 5
Free rotation includes Kael'thaFABULOUS but I can't pick him? Do I have to do something to unlock him during free rotation? Wanted to try him out.

For a few days there we were on a roll, winning more than we lost. Then like 2 days ago, the losses just kept pouring in. It's still fun to play, but damn folks can get salty and even bros start tilting while playing with buddies.
Frankly, they should only do the free rotation lock-out for QM and HL, not for vs AI.
I can understand trying to minimize the impact of "difficult" heroes on newer players since it can make the experience frustrating for both the player and their team mates (which can exacerbate the impact), but not for VS AI.
Anyway, get yo account level up!
