The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The Charlemagne albums are a bit way too symphonic for my tastes normally, but today they feel pretty badass as Sir Christopher Lee rides to the Valhalla of his choosing
I hope I get to make a metal album or three when I'm 80-something
They've got like a work release program. History's greatest shitbags get to come up from Hell for a little while, but only so the Righteous Dead can use them as training dummies to get ready for Armageddon.
Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan
Now I want to find a bunch of his movies and marathon them today.
When Peter O'Toole passed TMC did a wonderful series of programming featuring interviews, major releases such as Laurence and My Favorite Year, and lesser known works. I hope (or rather, expect) that they will do the same for Lee and I cannot wait to see what interviews they pull up and movies they show. Such a prolific man, both in work and in life.

It's strange, when an actor this old and this prolific passes away, because dudes my age are more familiar with roles like Saruman and Count Duku, and are largely unfamiliar with his older work, but he was still such an impactful and powerful screen presence that, even in relatively small parts like Count Duku, he just steals the scene and DEMANDS you give him your full, undivided attention, like a kindly old teacher who's finally lost his patience.
Christopher Lee is one if those actors who more young actors should aspire to be like. The dude was fuckin legit.

I'm kinda the same way, like I'd obviously seen him in The Man with the Golden Gun, but I wasn't aware that was him until today, I would say I probably wasn't properly aware of the man until Lord of the Rings.
I kinda want to go check out his Dracula movies but I imagine those are hard to find by now and not on any digital store.

Horror of Dracula (his first and best) is easily available on DVD or online. The full movie is even up on YouTube. The rest are fun, for the most part, but Horror is a masterpiece.
Less well-known but almost matching Horror of Dracula in quality is Jess Franco's Count Dracula, which is still one of the most faithful adaptations of the story ever put on film.
It's low budget and has its problems, but it's overall a very well done movie, and Lee is brilliant as usual in it. I found it for like $5 at Wal-Mart a couple years back. The DVD also has a special feature with Lee reading from the book itself, which is a hell of a treat.

he's not dead
he went back to Hell to retake his throne from The Usurper, Ronnie James Dio
and any small gaps will likely have interviews and other material rather than their typical throw-back short films I bet. I went ahead and IMDB linked all the films. In particular Curse of Frankenstein looks fun as Peter Cushing plays the lead and Lee the creature. The duo also feature in The Mummy, Horror of Dracula, and Horror Express incidentally.

He had a great life but it's sad to see him go.

Leaving aside the question of why there are Nazis in Heaven...
So he can stab them.

Wake up.
Enjoy a great breakfast while re-reading some Lord of the Rings.
Compose some wicked metal music.
Lunch.
KILL NAZIS.
Perform some scene work with Peter Cushing.
Enjoy a late supper with Birgit Krøncke.
Go to bed.

Imagine these instructions from the SOE's Descriptive Catalogue of Special Devices and Supplies being read out in Christopher Lee's voice:
That depends, how comfortable are you with far-right views?

There's no way Death would take him unwillingly.

Could literally listen to that man read anything.

I could have sworn that was Weird Al he was singing with. Someone just stole his hair.
Oh no oh no
That would have been amazing.
