I just started playing GTA V. I had it since November and thought I should finally try it.
Design wise it's almost impeccable. Can't say too much about characters and story, yet.
The fact the republicans use "The Democratic party used to be terrible in the distant past, so it's ok for us to be terrible now" as a defense of their terribleness is quite baffling.
Worse is the fact that they appear to get away with it.
my ability to get hyped over video games is dead and that's very sad
no its good
hype is bad
coldly calculate your fun/$ ratio 6 months after release
that's no fuuuuuuun
i'm watching the angry interview for the Mad Max devs and they're showing great gameplay footage and all i'm thinking is
movie game = bad
probably bullshots
bet it'll be full of bugs
bet the PC port is crap
may pick it up a year from now in sales if it isn't terrible
it's like wow
the games industry has me so jaded that when i felt myself building the tiniest amount of enthusiasm for something i was being shown, my mind immediately rebelled and shut it down because disappointment is inevitable

Fun is not a constant. 8 hours of amazing fun can be worth forty hours of okayish fun.
Counterpoint: no one here is ever going to buy an 8 hour game at full price.
Counter-counterpoint: I bought Octodad at full price
But then I've also bought Cel Damage twice, so I'm not an accurate portrayal of a savvy gamer

If you play it once and then put it away, DMC4 is what, like a 4 hour game? I've put at least 10 into the rerelease so far, no signs of stopping.
Metal Gear Rising was about that length too, must've played it for mooooonths.
I guess that time factor always dings a character action game when it comes to reviews. They're never considered "substantial" when in actuality, they're the deepest kinda game you can get, they just have fluff narratives.

Octodad was a fun little indie game. By full price I mean 60 bucks or 50 quid or 200 trillion Zimbabwean dollars.
Oh OK, full price as in "standard for a game release".
Then I agree.
I've resolved to stop buying games until I a) move to Yorkshire in September or b) I finish the main plot of all the ones I have. I'm missing out on Batman talk in G&T, but on the plus side if I can hold out that long, I might just hold out for the GOTY edition and not bother with a Season Pass.

I still enjoy loading up the original Force Unleashed and just calmly wrecking shit.

You need to start fresh and relearn the basics.

i know it's silly but
i have a vague feeling of being ripped off if i don't get at least an hour of play per £ spent
it's a lousy and arbitrary metric for judging a game but i know i'm not alone
Think cold thoughts.
Slap on some sunglasses.
Sing songs from Frozen.
and yet I am spending a hundred bucks on a preorder and re-watching the gameplay demos of Metal Gear Solid V because I am hype as fuck
Still going to wait for reviews and a sale.
Do you never go to the cinema?
Play some board games.
last game i played that wasn't fifa was...uh, The Wolf Among Us?
only game I am waiting on playing is Life Is Strange cus that looks baller but I don't wanna play something episodic before all the episodes are out
Oh shit, it's those guys?
*hype intensifies*

It didn't look stupid or like a typical movie game
Depends on what the full price is. 50 quid? Probably not.

I am pretty sure I have, and will probably do so again when I reduce this backlog to something in the single digits
