I played against Crow online in Rising Thunder for the first time; I didn't realize that his invisibility field special makes him completely invisible on the opponent's screen, not just transparent with an outline. That move is kind of a blowup; no wonder it has such a huge cool down.

That's one of their major reasons there isn't any local play right now
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other

Tremor is pretty interesting
Lava is probably best, but I'm liking aftershock. Delayed full screen low you can pressure off of, low hitting air projectile, overhead rocks setups. Pretty fun.

i think i would like charge characters. I've only tried Chunli though and it didn't go well
I wouldn't sweat it too much, especially if you're still working on fundamentals. I think that charge characters click with some people faster than others, and some people not at all. It took me years of messing with SF4 before I felt the impulse to mess around with charge characters.
It all ties back to what I tell everyone who starts getting character-curious: Don't pay attention to tier lists, don't listen to garbage talk about "so-and-so is garbage and if you pick them you're garbage". Pick a character that you think is cool, and plays the way you think is cool. It will make learning them much more faster and more enjoyable, and then before you know it you'll be winning matches because you're in sync with your character.
I just found out that Vlad is supposed to be a Soviet era robot piloted by a super intelligent dog outfitted with a translation collar, and that's why he randomly says things like "where is my ball?" and "it's time to play!" in a dopey Russian accent.
Rising Thunder 11/10 best game ever.

I messed with him some. Seems like he's supposed to be some kind of zoner hybrid, but I'm not convinced his tools are that good.
Nothing too spectacular about his strings/buttons either. Tbh, I'm a little let down.

If there's a character that's an effete, gay British aristocrat I may be doomed.

I don't think he's gonna make a big splash, but he's got enough unique gimmicks to be pretty fun.

None so far, sorry!
Right now we have generic Chinese swordsman, badass American boxer chick, greek strongman wrestling dude, peppy Latin kicky lady, aloof coolguy ninja man, and the aforementioned Best Character Ever Russian dog mecha.
The designs are generic looking at first, but they all have a good bit of personality. Like Chel's bird theme and Vlad's everything and Dauntless being literally Ronda Rousey but more punchy.
The voice acting in the native language (mostly, some characters have a couple of random English phrases) actually helps flush out the design a lot; it's much better than having everyone just speaking English.

I was playing with aftershock primarily in my testing, I couldn't really figure out if there was a downside to lava stance so I didn't mess with it too much
crystal variation I saw someone putting in a lot of work with @ locals last weekend though
I think the most important thing I've learned recently about SF is that you both can and should be doing two things at once pretty much at all times

Man. Something I've forgotten from not playing online in ages is that you can't train most people online and if you let them they will basically kill themselves.

really need to work on my matchup vs gen
I am pretty hype for birdie to be coming back in sfv
maybe they'll throw in a couple other classic characters?
Steam | Twitter
For years and years and years the second any character had any charge moves, I was all the way out
can't wait for sfv so I can actually do lightning legs
Steam | Twitter
you just do no damage meterless otherwise
also i am available for all xbox fights (marvel, sf2, sf3, sf4)
I still prefer there not to be charge characters
I ain't gonna be playing much Bison in SFV, that's for sure
That's one of their major reasons there isn't any local play right now
Quick someone call Agent Smith so we can have a climactic showdown

I had the same thing when I started working with Vega
Before - charge is stupid I can throw out moves whenever I want why would I give that up
After - OH MAN THIS FITS ME SO MUCH BETTER NOW

tanya is probably the best of the bunch followed by predator
jason is poopy but I love him and wont play anything else, tremor MIGHT be poopy but it is still TBD

it was like some pre nerf johnny cage blockstring bullshit
So she's even more of a snoozefest.
Still perfectly solid.
That's too bad because I think Tanya is entirely boring. Goro too. How's predator?
