Is there a way to get extra suppressors beyond calling for a full ammo drop? It's the resource I burn through the fastest, along with balloons obviously (I'm so pumped that taking out a moving tank with a balloon was possible)
Sometimes you'll find suppressor refills in outposts in boxes that look very similar to ammo boxes. Otherwise, you're relegated to frequently calling in drops until you can research suppressor upgrades. It's worth noting that the customize feature will let you put a high tier suppressor on a different gun than the one you first researched it for. I've been using a T3 SMG suppressor for all of my customized pistols for well over a hundred hours.
So, there's no way to replay the game fresh, or even on NG+, is there? I mean I suppose I can play any main mission I want, but in terms of replaying the story, it looks like I'd have to delete my save, or play it on a guest account.
Decoy upgrade to hug an enemy and Fulton itself away
Box that says "Free Hats!" on the side but all the hats have Fulton balloons
Auto-Fultoning toilets
Horizontal Fultons for those indoor Fultonings
Lengths of rope to tie chains of enemies together before Fultoning
Basically I want the Diamond Dogs to join forces with Acme

I played MGS2 a month back but didn't want to necropost.
To be brief, I really enjoyed it! And I wasn't expecting to. That's the game that I'd read MGS4 was most in line with and I did not like MGS4. The impression I had was that MGS2 was going to be similar in terms of needing some serious editing, but you know what? I never really felt impatient with any of the codec calls or cut scenes, unlike with 4.
Also, the game plays really well. I've now gotten through Metal Gears 1 & 2 and MGS1-4 and I think this is the most fun I've had actually playing one of these games. It's peak MGS. I'm hoping to replay MGS3 sometime soon though and maybe that will change.
My one complaint as I finished the game was that the story got way too convoluted at the end. The plot twists got a little out of hand and I honestly couldn't have told you what exactly had happened. But then I read the design doc. I'd known about the whole post-modern thing but only after reading that document did I see exactly what they were going for and that actually left me even more impressed.
MGS4 is my personal favorite because I feel the gameplay jump is as good as MGS1 to MGS2, in addition to it being the most content rich of any of the games to that point.
All Metal Gear games have extensive backtracking, MGS4 is the only one not to have ANY. It fits almost the entirety of MGS1 map into Act 4 alone, you just don't notice the size because it's not as gated behind story segments.
While the B&B unit isn't as good as some of the other units, they're still fun, and Rex vs Ray and Liquid Ocelot are still some of my favorite fights in the whole series.
I think the end of 4, is made better by the endings of Peace Walker and MGSV.
I'll put this in spoilers since we might have new PS+ players
I think the ending of V redeems Zero a bit. His turn from quirky commander to guy trying to control the world always seemed like a leap. And Big Boss' rejection of The Boss in PW makes his final scene in 4 better.
There's also this from Big Boss in 4:
"For all our advances in nanotecnology, information and genetic control, they've never managed to control people at will, let alone turn one person totally into another.
Under certain conditions, someone can be made to play a specific role, act like someone else"
He's talking about Ocelot's self-hypnosis of course, and how that was stronger than what the AIs could do with technology, but it's a cool line after playing V.
In fact, I would now say playing 4 for the first time after PW and V would be better. You'd have to avoid the second timeline scroll at the end of V (it spoils when Big Boss really dies), but otherwise I think it would totally work.

One of these is an actual thing you can unlock. Guess which.

Honestly, you could tell me they were all the right one and I'd nod sagely and go, "Yes, that makes sense for Kojima to have included it."

Now we know the true source of Liquid's hatred.
Otherwise John has the worst cyborg dad and that's just depressing to think about

To be fair this is also a game where someone is possessed by a severed arm so it's not out of the question

Man, even 2 years later this is a very, very pretty game.
Also damn is the gameplay just fun. If the story was up to snuff this would be hands down my favorite MGS.
