Back to the Future writer Bob Gale has revealed that the trilogy’s villain Biff Tannen is based on Donald Trump, putting an end to fan speculation.
In the second film, which was celebrated this week as part of Back to the Future day, Tannen becomes a successful businessman who opens a 27-story casino and, in an oddly prescient touch, uses his money to influence US politics.
“We thought about it when we made the movie! Are you kidding?” Gale said to the Daily Beast. “You watch Part II again and there’s a scene where Marty confronts Biff in his office and there’s a huge portrait of Biff on the wall behind Biff, and there’s one moment where Biff kind of stands up and he takes exactly the same pose as the portrait? Yeah.”

Actually, Brisbane probably had the weirdest professional environment I ever experienced. Two guys and myself alone on a floor... Visited by external people. They would all discuss their sex tourism at length and plans for Thailand in particular.

I did a presentation once for a NASA Neutral Buoyancy Lab. Well two of them. The one for the suit types went fine. But I had a presentation for some guys on the engineering side. And one of them was truly the old school engineering stereotype. An epic beard that would have allowed him to audition for ZZ Top. Pocket protector. Suspenders. Horn rim glasses.
In front of them the demo didn't go as well. It blue screened on me. But that was okay. They then told me about having a robotic arm presentation they did go horribly wrong and wreck a million dollar prototype. And then they took me for cake and introduced me to some astronauts.
i currently use EoPowerline. it gets middling results- around 55 megabits down. in practice this works fine, i'd only notice the shortage when downloading huge files. presumably the electrical cabling isn't perfect.
anyways it's ok. this is good enough for now. when the gigabit arrives i will see about whether drilling is sensible. if not, i can always download huge files downstairs.
