I just want to make sure...no one has heard of any new rules for Cosplays this year at PAX East? If my husband and I get it together we are going to do a Witcher III Cosplay. Some cons do not allow chain mail and I don't want to put all the work into making it and my husband not be able to wear it.
There are no rule changes to the Cosplay weapons rules this year. There is no reason chain mail would not be allowed.

Not to be rude or anything but how do you now this for PAX East this year? I really would like to hear from an official source.
With the new city ordinance in Boston banning any replica handguns in public I think people will want to be 100% positive with this new ordinance and how it may effect those that are planning on bringing any sort of cosplay item that may remotely look like a gun.
While I don't think there is going to be any issues you never know with the way the world is now a days.
Just so people know all they do is take the "gun" away and you will need to pick it up at the police station.

AaronC is the security manager for PAX, iirc. If I am wrong, he's at minimum the forum liaison for PAX security. I am sure if a change is made to official policy, it will be communicated.

I am the Enforcer who is the liaison for the forum regarding these issues. I formerly was the Security Chief at PAX East and am now a Lieutenant withing the Enforcers. As of now there are no changes to PAX's policy. Chain mail has never been banned and it isn't banned now.
City of Boston rules and how you might interact with the Boston PD regarding a replica firearm is not something I can speak to. We never know what the BCEC security will do, frankly I can't speak to how BPD will react either. Last year I had to tell them that we (PAX) were fine with replica guns and got them to give back some they were going to confiscate. How will that play out this year, I have no way of knowing.

Thanks for the clarification on who you are and what role you play. I do appreciate that.
Hopefully this new city ordinance will not have any major effect on what goes on inside the BCEC.

I'm an avid cosplayer at anime conventions, and even though this will be my fourth time at PAX East, it will be my first time cosplaying (I tried cosplaying Pyrrha from RWBY last year, but it was too cold and my shoes were too uncomfortable so I changed in the car).
This year I'm thinking Callie from Splatoon. I'm a little worried about the cold, but it should be fun, as long as that wig is done on time...

Make the coat check your friend!
I have a very low tolerance for cold, so even though my costumes were built for cold weather in mind, I still wore a warm jacket last year and just checked it when I got to the convention. I think it is well worth the line not to freeze my butt off.
i really really want to cosplay as a heavy weapons guy from team fortress 2, if there are any other tf2 cosplayers please send me a pm i really want to run around as a melee heavy with a sanvich
First time cosplaying.
Going for Tony from Hotline Miami 2.
Anybody have a reccomendation for fake blood on the latex mask that won't be a big mess?
I did 3 variants over the past 2 years from the first game (Aubrey, Richard and Dennis). I used a product called Perma-blood. I used a 16oz bottle of it (With at least 3/4 of the bottle remaining) and an old crayola marker to try and do my slashing splatter on one jacket, 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of sneaker, a knife and an axe. I never used it on the masks but I'm pretty confident it'll work nicely on them since it's essentially a paint. I would suggest doing the blood close to the show, though. I don't know how quickly it does so but it tends to age similar to blood, getting darker almost to a brown color with time. I covered the clothes in blood on the Wednesday evening going into that PAX weekend.
If it'll help, here's the photos I took of my fabric tests (the daylight photos), and the process on the costume itself when I bloodied it up. http://imgur.com/a/mXgVK
And here's the finished product. I wish I had more detail shots to highlight the blood for you. http://imgur.com/a/3Cuvg
If you have any other questions, let me know, I'll try to help however I can.
i need your guys' help!
deciding between Yuffie (FF7) and the Annihilator specialist class (Black Ops 3) .. what do you guys think? i can look like either of them haha

Only in planning stages right now but I'm thinking I'm going to do the Hotline Miami 2 version of Biker. Anyone have experience with bleaching/dying facial hair? Not at all sure what to expect.
I dyed my beard for Max Payne a coupla years back (He's got dark brown, bordering on black hair...mine is reddish-brown).
The rule of thumb is go a tinch lighter than you might expect, though I used store-bought just for men dye. For that bluish grey...dunno where you'd get it.
I am so excited to finally be going to Pax east. I'll be cosplaying Aveil from Majora Mask, Symmetra from Overwatch and Illaoi from League of Legends. Hope to meet people from the same games and can't wait to for this convention.

I'm following my normal schedule for cosplays again for Pax and only cosplaying friday and saturday. I like to keep sunday open to look at all the other things I didn't get to see the other two days.
Friday I'll be Neo and have a lovely yang who already posted in here. ;D
Saturday I'll be wearing my Rajang Armor set from Monster Hunter 4 Ulitmate. Still working on it, but I think it's coming out great. ;3 Though right now I'm trying to figure out the best way to make the Demon Rod weapon. It's pretty big and I want to break it down at least a little. x:
I'm very excited to finally pull off a dota cosplay! I'm going as Drow Ranger, and I'm searching to see if there are any fellow Dota cosplayers that I should attempt to meet up with at PAX east

I was considering Symmetra or Pharah, but I wasn't really interested in the game, I just liked having more than one option in my skin tone. I'm excited to see your rendition.

I would love to meet up with you in your Aveil cosplay and get pictures! I'm making my own version of a Fierce Deity for Princess Zelda. c:
This year I'm doing Lulu from FFX...God willing, she will be EPIC!!! So stoked, roughly 2.5 years in the planning/material collecting, construction since August...almost done..can not wait!!! 80 more days?
This year we'll have an Odin Sphere group (I'll be Mercedes) and I will also be cosplaying as Princess Agitha (Twilight Princess), potentially with a group but that is TBD. Super excited!
Unfortunately the extent of my costume will have to be determined by whether or not I manage to get a close hotel. There is no way Mercedes' crossbow is making it anywhere on the T.
I just remembered that I could cosplay at PAX. Have the Kevin Owens idea coming back to the top of my ideas. I need to sit down and think about what I am gonna do. I don't want to get crazy with it, but definitely be recognized as X person.
My costume calls for studded boots, I got the boots but they are a thick leather. So I'm not to sure about being able to use the studs with the screw backs - partly because I'm not sure I can punch through the leather or even if I do if the backs will cause unwanted rubbing on my ankles.
Anyone have any suggestions about how best to OR reasons not to glue the studs on? I was thinking of using Gorilla glue or some sort of clear epoxy...I'm worried about it looking glued on and or possibility of studs just falling off as the day progresses.

As long as your leather isn't coated in anything that might peel off (some paints, weird sealants, etc.) an epoxy would definitely do the job.

I don't think it is. I found something on Amazon, E6000? It supposedly can bond leather and metal with a clear finish, which is what I need. I will give this a shot
...and if its a no go, I'm breaking out the drill!
I cosplayed Princess Daisy last year (Fri and Sat). This year I will be missing Saturday due to a family memorial I have to attend, but I will be cosplaying Friday as the female constructor from Fortnite!
This is gonna be my first Pax East and i'm really excited.
I'll be cosplaying Eris Morn from Destiny on Fri and probably a Splicer from Bioshock on Sun.

Going to go with Yuffie, as she's way more recognizable, also probably more con-friendly.

As far as rubbing line the inside with some fabric like strips from and old pair of jeans. Cut it up and glue it to the inside.
