The PODCAST THREAD has sinned against both Man and God.
It's called Sentient
It's a 1997 PS1/PC title that is an adventure game in Bethesda-esque clockwork world.
They are on a spacestation that is falling into the sun.
They have not gotten very far in 1h30mins
holy crap, Psygnosis made this
I haven't thought about them since Colony Wars
Man Colony Wars was a shitty RTS.
eh? wasn't it a space fighter game?
e: apparently there is an obscure RTS that also has that name, that seems to be unrelated to the colony wars games psygnosis made
Fun Hannukah fact:
Because I went to high school in a small town that didn't get a lot of movies, and because all of my friends when I was 15 were idiots (it's cool, I was an idiot too), I somehow got suckered into seeing 8 Crazy Nights in the theater like three fucking times
did the nights get more or less crazy as you rewatched
The nights retained their original levels of craziness, but I began to lose my goddamn mind
Sounds like you should have tried it 362 more times or so. Or maybe watching the same bad movie every day for a year is a really bad idea. We'll never know unless someone tries it!
We're partway there. I stopped listening after a while but even at one viewing a week they started to lose it.

I mean, they made it through one experiment and decided to do another one, so clearly they did lose their minds. Either that or they're actually trapped on a spaceship by some mildly competent mad scientists.
Party of One is a tabletop RPG podcast, not a boardgame podcast
I specify this only because I discovered recently there's a long-running podcast I had never heard of that is 2-player BOARDGAME focused, and I don't want people thinking I'm stepping on their toes!

I think I was thinking of Dark Colony!
Space fighter games do make for shitty RTS gameplay, so you weren't exactly wrong.
I have met fewer than 10 Jewish people in my entire life
That is crazy to me
A good 50% of my college friends were at very least ethnically Jewish
well I'm from the middle of nowhere in Kentucky. When I was in college the closest synagogue was 50 miles away. The Jewish student organization had maybe half a dozen members
the seminary where I live now is right across the street from a reformed synagogue, but I've never gone over there except for when they let use their parking lot when our campus is hosting large events
I have met fewer than 10 Jewish people in my entire life
That is crazy to me
A good 50% of my college friends were at very least ethnically Jewish
There are very few Jewish people outside of coastal United States and Israel
like, almost anywhere else in the world
(there's also a decently sized community in Montreal for what it's worth)
Yeah, I mean, I grew up in Connecticut
I recognize that I'm from a pretty Jewish area, all told
But to that extent, it's still a bit shocking to me
Like, it's like saying you've never met a black person
I mean, honestly in high school we probably had a good twenty times as many Jewish people as we did black people, at least
So in some ways it is even more unbelievable to me
I probably didn't see any non-Caucasians in person until I was in at least Junior High. Maybe through church? Certainly hadn't met any until my teens. If it weren't for the numerous reservations, my state would be about 95% white and our minority population has grown significantly since I was a kid.

it depends on where you live but it's also often visually obvious that someone is black vs. usually having to be aware of [parts of a person's private life to be aware they are Jewish
You know that scene in the Simpsons/Critic crossover episode where Homer and Jay's stomachs are fighting for the last pork chop? I imagine that but with big ol' DoA-physics boobs.

I didn't regularly interact with black people until I was in college
I had no black classmates while I was in elementary, middle, and high school
in fact the only non-white people I ever went to school with before college were two latino guys who were a couple of years younger than me when I was in high school
The difference is that there are large amounts of black people in every part of the western world.
Well except in small-town midwest communities and such.
Also you can tell on sight when someone is black.
My hometown is so ethnically homogeneous that one of the biggest distinctions among people in the community is what dialect of German their ancestors spoke.
I as a black person, never met any jewish people until high school
and then i had to figure out it was a thing
like as a ethnicity and subset of white people, with stereotypes and such attached to them.
It's a thing in all three ways people are discriminatory. Ethnicity, race, and religion. And you can be Jewish in one without necessarily being the others.
All the Jewish people I've known have been awesome. So, that's my stereotype idea of them.
and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say

This is a little generous for the American midwest
My wife told me once that she remembered when the first Hispanic family moved to town and everyone flipped. This was shocking to me being from near Detroit, where a significant amount of my classmates were black, hispanic, or middle eastern. A couple of my best friends growing up were Rico and Aizaz.
So yep, it is white as hell out here in the Midwest, especially in small towns.

also sex, gender, sexual orientation, wealth, age, beauty, language, literacy, dialect, education, social status, political opinions, art opinions, video game opinions, favorite color... the list probably includes every thing that can be different in a human being.

You're right, everyone hates everyone for everything.
Those were just the biggest three that immediately came to mind.

Posts
Like, I ain't Jewish at all, but my cousin is
And then my stepmom is
And then I went to a very Jewish college in a rather Jewish city
So I've just picked up a lot of Hannukah stuff, like, incidentally

When will we quit giving in to the anti-Hanukkah crowd? There is a reason for the season!

I can't say for sure I've met anyone who's Jewish.
Fixed!
Don't! We are allowed to discuss good things on the show.

They also made Sixth Best Game Of All Time (as of the last posted episode of Let's Place) Wiz 'n' Liz

Dreidel Tournament.
Bring it on.

But yeah, it is a bit different there
My hometown is so ethnically homogeneous that one of the biggest distinctions among people in the community is what dialect of German their ancestors spoke.
yeah, that's a thing
like, as far as racists are concerned, it's not even enough to be white
you have to be the right kind of white
It's a thing in all three ways people are discriminatory. Ethnicity, race, and religion. And you can be Jewish in one without necessarily being the others.

subs or dubs, motherfucker

Neither.
I would like to point out not all Jewish people are white
My grandmas best friend is a Japanese Jewish woman
Like, it's pretty widely considered that now
But that is definitely a more modern connotation
You're right, everyone hates everyone for everything.
Those were just the biggest three that immediately came to mind.
but they're listening to every word I say
9375 white people
13 black people
40 native americans
3 asians
1 pacific islander
60 biracial people
71 latin@ or hispanic people
so... yeah
