Radio used to be pretty cool, what with the serials and news reports and variety shows
but then we got TV and we got to look at something instead of our dumb stupid friends and family while we enjoyed our programming
But then the internet came along and now that we can reduce our dumb stupid friends and family to text on a screen which we can more easily interpret in the context of our own personal biases and predispositions, we'd rather look at the internet instead of a tv screen
so now that our eyes our taken care of we need to independently stimulate our ears again and so radio is back in the form of podcasts!
podcasts are fun things where people tell jokes or talk about history or get undue critical acclaim for scoring their routine cold case crime reporting with snappy music or pretend like some stupid kids' show from the 1990s is worth ever thinking about let alone discussing!
here are some well known proffesionally produced podcasts. i don't really feel like linking them up but i believe in you to google them:
The Giant Bombcast - Some Californian folks talk about things and occasionally video games.
The Giant Beastcast - Some New York folks talk about things and also occasionally video games.
Hello from the Magic Tavern - A podcast hosted by an earth realm expat in a magical land. He is joined by two Foonian cohosts and explores the culture and customs of the world around him.
MBMBaM - Three brothers answer all your burning questions and provide awesome advice.
The Adventure Zone - MBMBaM cast (and dad!) play an awesome 5th edition campaign. Rich with goofs.
Comedy Bang Bang - Comedians come on and play characters. Often with humorous results!
Spontaneanation - Hosted by Paul F. Tompkins. Totally improvised
Sailor Business - Like Teens With Attitude, but about Sailor Moon? I think?
Match 3 - Exploring the cultural context of video games with Kotaku reporter Patrick Klepek, freelance writer Gita Jackson, and middle school teacher Sam Phillips
28 Plays Later - Kris Straub and Paul Verhoeven talk about video games and stuff!
The Flop House - Three guys talk about movies that are either commercial or critical flops and break down all the crazy shit about those movies.
U Talkin' U2 to Me? - Adam Scott and Scott Aukerman talk about things and eventually sometimes also talk about U2
The Message - Follow a team of cryptographers as they try to decipher an alien broadcast sent in the 1940s
Friends at the Table - Giant Bomb's Austin Walker DMs some engaging campaigns for his players in various game systems
Worst Idea of all Time - Some Australian dudes watch a movie. Over. And over. And over. And record their thoughts after!
We Hate Movies - Dudes talkin' about movies!
and here are some podcasts made by people here in their futile effort to find meaning in their short pointless existence:
Roll for Your Lives- a bunch of doofuses take turns DMing RPGs for each other using a variety of different systems. Horse dicks and sexy Doctor Who lesbian demons ahoy in this crazy and unpredictable adventure.
That DnD Podcast - Liveplay RPG stuff
Teens With Attitude - An episode by episode run-through of MMPR
Party of One - An RPG podcast centered on games that are played 1-on-1
Tales From the Spacepod - Described as "X-files meets South Park" by the creators
Trek Trudge - A Star Trek: TNG podcast
Let's Place - Speed Racer and guests rank games. All the games. Every one of them. Ever.
In summary, we are all going to die and the number of people who will care when expressed as a percentage of the world population rounds down to 0%. But at least we have some dumb things to listen to before that happens!

I was invited to a friend's birthday party and I for a present got him a pretty sweet Tyrannosaurus Dinozord flashlight and he was super psyched. He was only allowed to have one friend stay the night, and he picked me and while we were laying in a big bed in his basement watching some Power Rangers, he told me that he loved his present and he was super happy that he had picked me to sleepover.
And then I barfed all over our bedding.
He started shouting and crying and his sister ran in, stared at the barf and exclaimed, "EWWW! THERE'S GUM IN IT!"
My mom came and took me home.
if you were listening to a podcast, say, an actual play rpg podcast focused on 2-player rpgs, and two characters were on the phone
how would you react if one of the two voices sounded like it was a phone call?
doing sfx work on an upcoming episode and there are several phone calls, and i'm debating playing with the voice track of the npc i'm playing to give it the cell phone effect
but when i was about 5 i wanted to be the gold zeo ranger for halloween
but seeing as we lived in ohio my mom made me wear a jacket over the costume
and about 10 minutes into the night i sneezed really hard and my plastic mask got just flooded with snot so i had to take it off
i distinctly remember bumping into a friend who asked me what I as supposed to be and just sort of sniffing and saying "gold ranger..."

Dan "It's like Codename Steam if that game were 2D and good."
Dead to me Dan.
DEAD TO ME
Edit: That said, I think I want to play SteamWorld Heist.
He's kind of right about it being a 2D Codename STEAM though.
Oh he is totally right, and that makes it seem totally rad.
Just like Codename Steam was TOTALLY RAD.
I didn't think his review was harsh, so much as I think he didn't really get or enjoy the game, but was forced to play it because it was his job, and thus hated it because he got stuck on a level and was unable to beat it. And, to be fair, if that was my job, I think it would cause me to hate a game too.
Personally however its my GOTY.
I forget if you have steam, if so you should play with me
Or are you on ps4
When we went over the list of how few Hannukah specials there were I got genuinely upset
It's really dire.
I'm going home for the holidays and want to play until dawn with my friends, but I have the game digitally
If they have a ps4 is there any way to play the game there?
alas
wherever she wants, it's 2015
and despite the numerous issues I have with that game
it's still pretty fun to just walk around and take photos in-game
