According to NASA, a vessel with humans on it would take roughly six months to travel to Mars and another six months to travel back from Mars. In addition, astronauts would have to stay 18-20 months on Mars before the planets re-align for a return trip. In all, the mission would take roughly 2 1/2 years.

So, with that stated, what would you bring?

If you had a 50 lb. case for your personal belongings, how would you fill it? One can imagine that the space station itself will cover food, clothing and also have general technology (television screens/computers).

So, what do you bring on your trip to Mars?

Buncha video games and VR stuff to stave off space madness.
    Buncha music for the same.

edit: obviously games and music are the cheat answer, because as digital entities, they are lightweight.

Do we have a functionally unlimited source of electricity?

If so, a 3DS and a laptop loaded up with Unity 3D and Photoshop

If not, just a shitload of books and maybe a board game or two

Aside from obvious distractions meant to fill time between maintaining the means by which we survive on Mars for those months, I'd probably bring one or two things of sentimental value, or something to leave behind as a testament to humanity's achievement of finally becoming, essentially, a two planet species. Like a plaque or some classic rock vinyl record or something that wouldn't negatively impact the environment, such as it is.

I've never left the country, so I got a lot of terrestrial exploring to do before I'd even remotely consider seeing another planet. In theory it'd be amazing, but I just don't think I have enough of an adventurous spirit to do it.

A laptop and/or tablet loaded up with all the media and software I could expect to go through in a three-year period. A controller or two. A drawing tablet. A camera. One or two handhelds. A couple of earphones.

    A Marvin the Martian t-shirt.

Cell phone (for camera, writing, music)
NVidia Shield (I don't own one but it plays some PC games decently I hear)

I mean just with the first two I have functional access to at least fifteen 100+ hour RPG's, a vast library of books, and 50 hours of assorted music. The future is now.

-Obviously loading up the kindle with my huge backlog of books. Probably will need several batteries as well.
    -Ipad for music, notes, etc.
    -A few D&D source books.
-A sketch book for my terrible drawings of mars
-A few board games, but not too many since they can take up the weight pretty quickly. Small footprint games like Love Letter for sure. It would depend on my fellow 'nauts as to which other couple I bring.
-Mars has like, 40% of earth's gravity, so I would probably bring a baseball bat and a few baseballs and just hit the crap out of them.
-That's at least two birthdays of mine, so i'll bring two packs of Oreos and hopefully they keep for that long.
