I liked the premise of Eden of the East but I felt it was kinda rushed at the end. Seemed like the kind of show that should have gone on for more than one season.

Like, I love local multiplayer, it dying out of videogames is why I got into boardgames and host a weekly night for my friends. And yes, local multiplayer can help form a group of strangers into a community.
But makes us better people? I'm sorry, no, absolutely not. Plenty of local communities are exclusive, hostile, toxic, misogynistic, homophobic, and all the things he leveled at online games. I am not sure if it was just naivety or privilege or what that drove this conclusion but it is way off base.
Local multiplayer just means face to face, it comes with its own perks and its own dangerous flaws.
It's always weird to remember that Gavin and crew are like a legitimate production company and shit nowadays, it blindsided me the other day when I was looking up some Barenaked Ladies tunes, and well I guess Rooster Teeth does their videos and such now? https://youtu.be/uu1_B70pSGo
Oh man, can I still talk about this video? I really want to talk about this video.
I fucking hate this song. When I looked up the translation for the lyrics and realized that it's not even Pop Lyrics level of simple but like shit you'd play for preschool kids before Snack Time, I couldn't take it anymore.
But this was lovely, because it honestly seems like Stephen had this weird idea to not do a camera rehearsal with them and just shot it live. So the Camera guys and the control room are just like "uhhh, wtf is this? Who do we shoot?" Look at how many times they just ignore the girls and their weird ass choreography. Count how many times they cut to the band, who are almost shocked the camera's on them. Close-up on the Guitar Solo!
It's really a perfect representation of how I have to imagine a typical American would view them. "Yea yea, the backup dancers are nice, let's see what the band can do." It's amazing.
Never heard a Baby Metal song but I do recall hearing about the formation of the group from some notable Japanese Metal musicians. Everyone said the same thing; a couple suits were forming a gimmick group and were looking for backing musicians. Spoke to one of the backing musicians and he basically said he dies a little inside every time he plays a note for them. Reminded me of conversations I've had before a few times with musicians in similar positions, an Alestorm member being the most recent.
The music sounded the same as all other Metal songs and I couldn't understand what they were saying.
A lot of people say the same about Opera, which is obviously not true. Just means your ear is not acclimated. I can write a thesis on why this song doesn't "sound the same as all other Metal songs," but I'll spare the thread from that amount of rambling.

Local Multiplayer started a LOT of fights between me and my brothers

I mean, yes, it's because I don't like Metal so I have no incentive to try and parse it. I just went "yup that's Metal with a gimmick" and then shut off the video after a minute. It was mostly a joke and I was being a goose.
It's definitely a weird amalgam, but I don't really get why it rises to the level of "dying inside". Are the songs (apparently bad lyrics excepted) just not that well crafted? Are they not fun to play? Or do they just feel like they sold out or something?

Heck look at Monopoly, one of the original 'local multiplayers' I'm sure we can all think of at least one family gathering that led to monopoly and ended in yelling.

This is my favorite track of theirs but keep in mind I haven't listened to their newer stuff

Monopoly always ends in yelling because it's a board game about the fundamental evils of capitalism and how it turns people into ghoulish money-worshipping monsters.
Games of monopoly breaking down into savage conflagration is a feature, not a bug.
the way Real Metal Fans react to babymetal (i.e. hate it with a passion) gives me strength and energy
Their newest stuff is much less "kawaii" and more mainstream metal too.
A buddy grabbed me for a concert of theirs in Chicago last year. It was a confusing crowd. On one side was your typical metal fans, leather, slayer t-shirts, big old beards, that kind of thing. The other side was all Japanamation fans, cat ears and Cowboy Bebop shirts and suit jackets with Dr.Who shirts underneath. But in the mosh pit? In the mosh pit we were all as 1.

At the concert when the ladies would do costume changes they band would move up front and center and do some amazing riffs. They were a pretty great band and had 4 or so solos without the dancing and pop lyrics.
A quick look at wikipedia is showing two sequel movies!
The movies were... okay. It was an ending, but like a lot of anime endings the second film was mostly people sitting and talking to each other.
Anyway, yeah, big disappointment that they were like "oh we licensed the opening song!" and by that they meant only the first of 11 episodes actually used the oasis song

No doubt in my mind that they are talented individuals. Hell I don't even harbor the typical disdain for the Baby Metal project that many of my contemporaries do, it's a waste of energy. It leaves a lot to be desired as a Metal project but as a "for shits," fun Dethklock-esque product I can see why it appeals to folks.

For that particular member, they thought it would be a flash in the pan paycheck. Ended up being a longer gig than they thought. Dunno if he is still a member as I am not in regular contact... guess I could google it really quick but man am I busy.
Oh so that's where the Blazblue soundtrack came from

It's a real shame the licensing crap prevented the west from getting this opening along with the show

I found this way more interesting than the original video. It's still good, though.
