So Update: First off, thanks to you guys for the gifts and well wishes over the last couple days. It actually made the weekend a bit more bearable. I just love PA and the community we have around here. Also because of the sale and a few bucks I had set aside within Steam I was able to take part in the gifting at least a tiny bit which also made me feel great.

With that said, it's nothing certain yet, but I had a friend of mine call me with a possible job. A company is looking for someone with accounting experience (which I have a lot of) and wants to meet me after hearing of my experience. Like I said, nothing certain, but at least it's a place to start.

Thanks for being awesome guys and hopefully this turns into something. :)

Yay, more jobs for the job throne! I got that email I was waiting for this morning about a second interview. Hopefully @DoctorArch got that good news he was waiting on, as well?

Anyone going to be picking up Technomancer? I've been eyeballing that one during its development. Maybe a snack to hold me over until the new Mass Effect.

I wishlisted it as soon as I saw it but it was pointed out to me that the devs, Spider, have a bit of a checkered history (Mars: War Logs and Bound By Flame) so take it with a grain of salt. If you do take the plunge, I would be very interested in your thoughts.

I think Mars was generally very poorly received whereas Bound By Flame was more divisive (I know there was a certain pixie that really enjoyed it).

Bound By Flame was awesome. Faery: Legends of Avalon was awesome.

Both were also a bit euro-janky. But I'm okay with that. They were still enough fun for me to play through both of them twice.

They also did Gray Matter (a great point-n-click) and Of Orcs and Men (I didn't play it but my kid loved it).

I'd say they have a pretty solid history of turning out genuinely fun games that maybe aren't perfect AAA gems.

Thank you for your recommendation. 7 Days to Die is incredibly addictive and I stayed up WAY later than I should have last night because of it. The game is awesome and can't wait until it hits 1.0!

Glad you're enjoying it! Even with some of the bugs (mini-bikes x2 down due to falling through the world, not making another one for awhile for my sanity) it really is a fun game! Our little 3 man team survived the 35 day blood moon last night. That was definitely an experience that I'm sure will get worse at day 42.

Must build up more defense and set the battlefield in our favor quickly...

Any feedback on this, Mr Viking?

I didn't like Bound in Flame but I am a fan of Orcs and Men (though much more of a fan of the spin-off, Styx, which is apparently a different developer).

I'm counting down the seconds until it does

What pretty much swung it for me was @Dashui (I think) mentioning in chat that he'd read reviews for it - the key one being along the lines of "if you've finished Witcher 3 and are looking for something to fill that void, this may be the game for you." There was also an observation that this will be a solid B-list entry to tide people over until ME:Andromeda comes out.

Cool! Ya I am at a point where I just need to explore more for those scannable fragments. I hit the end of your beginners guide f3rret and then realized I cannot yet reach the thermal vent I'm perched above. So just transitioning from "start and survive" into more long term exploration and build goals.

Speaking of, can you recharge the seaglide? I'd love to carry spare batteries for it. There's a deal on the subnautica site about recharging stuff but hard to tell if it's in the base game or experimental version.

Yup! You need to get the fragments for the battery recharger. If you have more than one battery in your inventory, you can equip the seaglide and hold R. Then you can swap out the depleted battery for a full one. Then you put the dead (or just low) battery into the battery charger, and you're good to go! This is a major improvement from the early game, where you had to scrounge and scrounge for copper just to make things keep going.

So, uhh, tips on fragment location? :-)

Not really. They're random, just look around for wreckage and concentrate a search near that. Though there will be fragments more far flung than that, they seem to be more thickly seeded near wreckage than they were before, which is pretty nice.

The big chunks of the Aurora are the best areas to look around. You can check on the Subnautica Wiki which biomes have which fragements, if you want to make a targeted search for something.

The Battery and Power Cell Recharger machines are so nice. Way better than one-use Batteries/Cells.

And f3rret, one very nice side-effect of the change to battery function: The busted Flood lights in the large Aurora Wrecks have batteries you can remove. Free Battery!

I'm reasonably certain that the recharger fragments are in the same area as the Seamoth fragments. The red grassy area...

A moderately exasperating experience with Steam:

The summer sale helped me get my level to a nice round multiple of 10, so I sold off my remaining card inventory, a few hundred cards. Enhanced Steam has Quick Sell and Instant Sell buttons, which help a lot, but selling them one at a time was still pretty slow going. A search showed that there’s a Chrome extension, Steam Inventory Helper, which should automate a lot of this. It did, eventually, but not as well as I’d hoped.

In theory all you just go to your inventory, hit Select All, go to the next screen, repeat, repeat, repeat, then hit Sell XXX items, hit OK a few times and let it run. In practice, whatever script this extension runs is extremely finicky; it fails often, and once it does fail it keeps on failing , and once your remove everything from the queue it fails them all ten or eleven more times for good measure. Doing one screen of 25 items at a time seemed to be easiest – once an error is thrown, remove all the offending items from the queue and wait for it to finish failing them all for two or three minutes. Repeat a few dozen times, babysitting it the whole time to get it out of the inevitable error loops. But this is a huge improvement over clicking Quick Sell for each one, which itself is already an enhanced experience over the default of looking up the market information one at a time.

After 300 or 400 cards, Steam errored out with a message that I’ve hit my limit of “-1” sales in a year, and that I had to submit additional data. Clicking through, it said my data was up to date. According to the original error message, this might mean that they have to verify the tax data. Maybe that happened, I don’t know. In the usual fashion of such errors, a Google search mostly turned up other people with the same problem 4 years ago, and no resolution. But after an hour the error went away.

All these transactions have to be authenticated. Steam doesn’t have a “Create All Listings” button, so the workflow is 1) tap transaction, 2) wait 1-2 seconds for transaction to come up, 3) tap “Create Listing”, 4) wait ~4 seconds for it to process. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If you tap “create listing” twice, you get an error, because of course you do, and of course it’s a modal window that requires you to click ok. And about one in ten attempts it just fails because, I don’t know, maybe the servers are busy. It’s kind of troubling that the error message says that it can’t cancel the transaction, rather than create it. And about one in every forty attempts, the app loses it and fails every time until you close and restart the app.

As a user interface for selling cards, Steam (or, rather, the Steam website, which at least has third party browsers extensions) is kind of garbage. The app is garbage. The same mentality that throws thousands and thousands of items on sale and then only lets you view them 25 at a time is at work here, too. It’s so bad and I don’t understand how they could make something this bad and leave it this way for years.

I'd forgotten how addictive the Audiosurf formula can be. And I have a lot more music to play it with now than I did with the first one.

Last night I wanted to get in a quick bit of Rocksmith before watching the Game of Thrones finale. Instead of pressing the A button to pick my profile, I must have rolled from the X to the A button. X is delete profile and then A is confirm. So that's a 160 hour profile gone and forgotten.

On the upside, it's not like losing an Elder Scrolls character with all the weapons, armour, spells, enchantments, and progress. Something that would take fifty hours to get back to your current quest. Still, it's all the customization and saved progress where I Peter Principled out of each song. Oh well, at least it's an incentive to take a fresh look at the track list and get working on some old favourites again.

The good thing about Rocksmith, at least for me, is the fun is in playing the songs. I would hate to lose my custom tones, though. Not sure if those are saved to the profile. It would be a major bummer to lose those high completion percentages, too, but I couldn't tell you what mine are.

Golf with (your) friends is a total blast. It's pretty fun if you're winning and I guess it's pretty fun if you're in the middle of an utterly soul-crushing level of defeat, falling further and further behind in strokes while the three other players offer words of consolation over discord that are lined with wracks of laughter as your ball hits something, bounces wrong, and flies into the stratosphere in the exact opposite direction from the hole (but you'd have to ask @CorriganX to be sure).

No but really though, it's a really fun game. There aren't many locations yet because it's still in the oven but there are a ton of options for switching up the experience (you can change gravity, friction levels, stroke counts, change the balls to a bunch of other shapes, etc). One of the rounds we played was with minimum bounciness, reduced friction, and the flat puck, so it was basically miniature air hockey and it was awesome.

It's a great party game, and if you can get three other people together to play it with you it's well worth whatever it's on sale for right now.

Thanks you very much. Hendrix was definitely an incredible and unique guitarist. A lot of his stuff is a ways beyond me, but I'm sure I'll learn a lot playing his songs. Looking forward to giving this a try later today. Thanks!
