    Kickstarters are essentially a donation

Please do not treat them like an investment. They have crowdfunding platforms where you can actually invest. KS is not one of them

They are an investment in a future product, not an investment in something you're going to make any money off of. So in that way, exactly like a donation.

I like to think that I have a rule that I won't buy games in Early Access but I find myself breaking that twice a year or so. I don't like rewarding companies for putting out incomplete products, especially if there is no guarantee of that product ever getting finished and some projects just seem to languish in EA for years longer than projected.

Kickstarters are even rarer, I've only backed the Tides of Numera (sp) game since Planescape Torment was one of my favorite games of all time. I guess it is selective reading, but I seem to really notice the crowdfunding projects that don't complete when those are more the exceptions than the rules.

Anybody have any extra Steam Awards cards? I'm looking for one #3 'Test of Time'.

    I have extra #1 (1) #2 (4) #4 (4) #6 (2) #8 (5). I'm going make one more badge and then probably sell the rest.

Another game off the backlog, this has been a productive year so far.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is a good fun game and a nice follow up to War of Cybertron. For anyone familiar with the G1 series (I was too young and grew up with Beast Wars) this finishes up the setup with the final confrontation of Autobots and Decepticons before their war comes to Earth. You'll play a full roster of characters from both factions as you find a way off Cybertron. Lots of fun and robot smashing times though it only clocked in at about 6 hours long. The co-op is no longer available in the campaign (the source of unfortunate frustration as anyone dying = reset to checkpoint) instead having a (I presume dead) multiplayer and an escalation mode, checkpoints are plenty, and there are only a few rough patches. Teletraan 1 stations are scattered throughout the game allowing you to buy consumables, perks and modify and equip your favorite guns making you less reliable on found guns throughout the level though they were often to your benefit for upcoming encounters.

My only complaint is despite being a cover shooter there isn't any real cover mechanic or real effective cover in general. Even on normal difficulty I could get mowed down real fast by enemies I shouldn't have had much trouble with--not counting some jerk shotgunners. This problem was eventually solved when I bought the shield recharge delay reduction perk but then I felt a bit too strong for the rest of the game.

Thanks again to @Antoshka for gifting me this, it was a bunch of fun.

So im playing RE7. Getting Scared Shitless. Take a break for a bit. Close the game. Up pops a gift message from @Antoshka with the Resident Evil 7 season pass! Thank you so much Antoshka. You're amazing, and your timing couldn't have been better. I had to take a break from the stress and tension, and this was an awesome thing to receive. <3

Are the Binding of Isaac expansions actually any good? I don't have the game so none of the expansions, but I have been watching some playthroughs recently, and there's one with a mod called Antibirth that seems far and away better than anything the actual game does.

Afterbirth is an excellent expansion, IMO.

Afterbirth+ is a bit hit-or-miss. It's definitely better than it was on release. I'm enjoying it, but it's really difficult at times. It also requires Afterbirth.

I've personally not tried that Antibirth mod, so I can't compare it to that.

edit: just to clarify, I am talking about The Binding of Isaac Rebirth and its expansions here. I mean, that's what Antibirth is a mod for as well, but I wanted to make sure that was clear. The original Binding of Isaac is a little hard to go back to at this point.

I thought I was going to be able to finish Chef Solitaire USA for the backlog battle. Not only was I out all day Saturday but I was sick Sunday (and it continues but I'm better enough to game now). Even if I'd been going both days when I typically play I would not have completed this one.

    At least I enjoy solitaire!

They didn't self destruct at the end of the sale?

I sold all of mine the last morning of the sale since I thought they would expire like the last few sets of sale cards.

This is... not a product I would have expected from the developers of Forward to the Sky.

This strikes me as an idea slapped together as a joke to test other assets/systems, but then it became so fun and funny they decide to roll with it.

I gave up on Ronin at the end because the maker decided not to fix the setting that made a low angle leap not always go through floors despite the indicator showing it did so. When your game is all about precision and the best they could do was make a joke about it in one of the loading screens it was the final straw for me. Too bad since it was an intriguing concept.

But enough ranting. If you're looking for more games like it, you might enjoy (edit:whoops my bad) Gunpoint (need to try it myself) or Deadbolt though the latter lacks a pause mechanic.

Instead of taking cover, you can turn into a more mobile vehicle. It's basically a reverse-cover shooter.

I was still blasted to bits by the bots due to their rather pinpoint accuracy, especially when I was a flyer and had almost no cover to begin with.

Thankfully the checkpoints were really frequent so I never lost that much progress.

Im still playing both Disgaea games available on Steam, and im surprised about how much i like them.

Phrase "numbers porn" is very true here, and i shouldn't care about having bigger numbers on my characters, but forgive me God, i do, i do care very much.

I can already see myself investing at least 100 hours into each game.

I got earlier access for reviewing purposes few days ago, so i could start a little earlier.

@DarkPrimus Yeah, I already had some fun with Item World, and so far the best thing that come out from that was a secret shop, where i spent almost all of my money on better items.

Ys: Memories of Celceta was on sale on PSN, so I bought it since it's compatible with my PS TV.

I really wish they would have made this game and Ys 7 for PC, though. Why the hell wouldn't they do that? The Ys games have a history of getting PC releases. I want to play these games on Steam, not on my PSP's small screen (for Ys 7). Playing Celceta on the PS TV is OK, but the game uses the PS Vita's touch controls, which are emulated on the PS TV in a way that works, but is also very clumsy.

I finished RE7! It was AWESOME. I really love the RE series, and this game was an amazing take on them. I really really enjoyed it, got scared a LOT. It has the same thing with most horror games with combat, where after about 80% of the game you're not as scared because you're well armed and accustomed to the kind of oppressive atmosphere, but I still really really really really really enjoyed it.

Thanks so much to @EvmaAlsar for the gift of this. I was excited when it was gifted, and even more excited when I actually played it. Now to just sit and wait for the dlc to come out and play that thanks to @Antoshka gifting me the season pass. Thanks to you both so much, this game is amazing and I urge everyone else that likes being scared to play it!

9h11m to finish it on Normal Difficulty, and its all up on twitch Vods if anyone wants to watch me play through it.

I don't understand the contention with the way US and UK dates are described.

Some people say the European method makes more sense because it goes day/month/year in an escalatory order, but if someone asks you for a date* in English most people I know use month/day/year when they say it out loud, the way it is written in America.

Ask a rando on the street what the date is and they're more likely to say "it's January twenty fifth", not "it's the twenty fifth of January". I dunno, maybe you guys don't say it like that over there, but that's why it's done the way it is in America.

*edit: unless I ask them for a date and they usually tell me they're busy that night
