Oh man multiple paths... some of the stuff seems cool. Like the classes and the look of the game. But I'm really not that into multiple paths. Especially if that's like required to really see all the story? Unless they are all separate and self contained.
How does that all work?
Each path is its own story, pretty much. There's a neutral, lawful, and chaotic path. You'll see various characters from different angles on each, so doing all three gets you the most complete view of everything, but it is not required at all.

Ok this may work. So whatever path you pick is a complete story from that perspective and there's not like some special "true ending" after doing all 3?
Also weird question, the character that you name at the beginning, is that Denam? Or is the PC separate from the main protag?

No secret special do all the other endings first ending.
And yeah, Denam is the MC.

Alright. I may be able to work with that.

I played Final Fantasy Tactics as a kid, and didn't play TO: LUCT until I was an adult on the PSP, so that definitely colors my perspective, but Final Fantasy is the superior game, from a game perspective. I can see why people say TO has the better story, but its gameplay was tedious as hell.
Leveling up anyone besides your initial units was awful, random battles scaled the difficulty way up, skill points accumulated super slow, and I only got to the end because of Archery. To say nothing of crafting, with a huge number of steps to make one piece, with a fail chance to lose the item at every step. You had to save scum to make anything.
Final Fantasy Tactics had the much better class system, even if it's possible to break it in half and make super strong units.
Overall I had a LOT more fun playing FFT over TO, though TO was acceptably good.

Hmm.. maybe I'll start with FFT just because I already know I like that from having played before.
I was a dumb kid and got trapped by poorly planning save spots at THAT part and that's as far as a I ever got. But up to that point I did enjoy it.
Gonna stream some more Tokyo Mirage Sessions, if anyone' s interested in watching. In today's adventure we're going to watch a concert and learn how to move people with our singing (also fight lots of mirages and almost die/die a lot).
If there's anyone who wants to be notified when I do this, let me know.

Tactics Ogre for the PS1 is one of the most miserable experiences you can have in a game that is ostensibly good. The loading times are atrocious, and at any moment you might lose a character permanently because they died and turned into a tarot card.
The PSP version fixes most of the problems with the game and then some. The ability to play all 3 routes with any amount of variation was a God-send. But it also kills any desire for me to replay it. Oh, and it gives you a lot of bonus areas to actually level your guys up instead of forcing you to fight insanely stressful/powerful mooks all the time.
Also, the FFT PSP remake is extremely good, as the new translation makes the story much better than it was.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
... Why in the world would you ever fight mooks to level in the original TO when you could make two AI parties of your own troops and let them murder hobo each other for exp while you watched the Disney afternoon?
i did not like tactics ogre at all and quit playing it not very far in. it is a miserable game, mechanically.
i did not see the story, it's probably really good, maybe i should watch someone play it.
i loved final fantasy tactics, FFTA, and FFTA2.
also also, Legend of Mana is definitely in my top 1 games.
despite none of the subsystems in the entire game being good or transparent in any way.

The forging guide for Legend of Mana was a masterpiece of GameFAQs.
i have made two fully-forged max element 2h swords, a pair of knives, and a spear in that game.
all on different characters.

The PSOne version is a miserable slog.
But the PSP version is fantastic.
And one of the things that makes the story great is that you have three different story routes. Law, Chaos, and Neutral (Neutral only is achieved via going Chaos and making a second decision later)
Now I did not say good, evil, and neutral. Law, Chaos, and Neutral. Hell, the Law route starts with one of the most horrific acts an ostensibly good guy does in a vidja game.
Oh, and the characters are all fantastic. And if you play Tactics: Ogre for the GBA and get the secret ending, you appreciate the characters even more.

I tried so hard to find a Knights of Lodis back in the day. That game does not exist anymore, near as I can tell.
E: At reasonable prices, at least. Plus tons of fakes.

I owned a huge assortment of GBA games, many of which were rare (including Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis)
But I cannot find them. I have no idea where they are, which is really weird because I always kept them in a noticable box. I have an inkling that someone stole that shit.
Lodis also breaks from storytelling norms, in that to get the super secret deluxe ending you have to be an asshole.

Weeab thread, if you're interested, I am continuing my Lunatic run of Tokyo Mirage Sessions. We are about halfway through the first dungeon and it's time for our heroine to try to sing a really bad song to her sister to free her from the bad guys. Also this is lunatic, I will likely die, but we shall see.
I'm also aiming to stream Trails of Cold Steel at some point in the next week, so if you're interested in seeing that game, but don't wanna pay to see it, this'll be a good chance.
If anyone wants me to @ then when I do this, let me know.

It's such a good game. You're really missing out. You do get the hear the lyrics to the song once you beat the boss.
I want there to be constant singing during battles and for them to be singing while fighting and everything.
Instead it's just a lot of Fire Emblem words thrown around during a generic anime set in Tokyo that sometimes mentions music.
Eh, I wouldn't call it generic. It does some interesting stuff, but thematically if an anime with some performance focus with the SMT game play isn't your bag, then you will not enjoy it.

Basically people said it focused too much on the goofy anime singing stuff, and I got really excited and found out they had exaggerated a lot.
The gameplay is fine, but it wasn't going nearly as far with the idea as I'd hoped and was led to believe from the trailers and info.

Some interesting Granblue stuff coming down the line
New class, DRUM MASTER! Finally an appropriate class to pair with Eugen, Soriz, and Jin
SOIYA
They're also going to be unlocking every team slot, and refunding anyone who bought additional team slots. This is nice because I was thinking about buying a third set.
Lyria looks so proud and that will never stop being adorable.
New gbf banner. Pulled racistcat. So that's cool.
About a third of the way through dragon quest heroes 2. The game is far and away better than the original. Though some of the fights can kind of spike into bullshit levels of difficulty. It's still real fun to turn into monsters and stomp around and they also picked some real charming characters.

Free Colossus Cane in the time limit crate in GBF, looks like they must have finished Valtz
Likely can expect a free Leviathan Dagger when they get through August and then a Ygg Sword when they finish Lumacie
I'm near done with Persona5 and I'll be moving on to Tales of Besaria.
It occurs to me that I did play but never finish Tales of Symphonia. Is it worth revisiting?
Edit: Actually nevermind... a quick look at Amazon tells me I played a different game. It was kind of a lighter breezier fair that revolved around classical music and light/dark. Wish I could remember its real name.

nope nope
Nah.
SD3 is better in almost every way, and so is Legend of Mana apart from the combat being just horrendously easy.
But Secret of Mana is available in English and less esoteric and more challenging than Legend
