I dunno. They both seem like issues to me, but it often feels like (as a monogamous, long-term-paired not-straight) a lot of people barely think about STIs, even when considering safe sex.
Hormornal IUD. Highly effective and usually made out of plastic so not sharp pointy ends. Actually can completely stop menstration in some women.

IUD's are civilization, btw. I am kinda horrified at the idea of calling them "the coil". I also don't really understand why it's consider sexist for women to be responsible for their birth control, especially in non-monogamous relationships. I've also been lead to believe most forms of FDA approved birth control in the States have health benefits as side effects for many women.

Pretty much all IUD's are that time frame. Some can go up to 7, but the big qualification is always signing the thing about not wanting children for 5 years or w/e.
