As the general Cartoon Network thread... Infinity Train was good.
That is all.
Heck yes it was. I waited literal years for it since that first little mini-toon. Since it was a short run special mini-series whatever, they could dive into it getting WAY heavier than I expected it to, and quite quickly.
And since at the end of it, it said
That it's coming back, I can only assume that they're going to be looking at other passengers that we saw noted on the computer in the engine room.
Also, Kate Mulgrew absolutely killed that small part she had.
I think CN is looking into more seasonal miniseries over a full series order. It lets them fill programming gaps and they can reair them as yearly events

no, this steven universe schedule is just the promo for the movie.
they are playing every episode of the show and then debuting the movie.
expect it to go back to TTG on tuesday
and 3days doesn't excuse 5years of near dead space. Sure, the bombs were fine, but the show drought was just aweful. could have at least put it in the afternoon line up once or twice a week.
Without going into spoilers I dont agree with the concept that character would represent for the series
Is it
Steven and Greg?
If so I don't see how thats an problem?
Steven can fuse with Connie, who he has romantic or at the very least deep feelings of friendship for. They are super in step even though they come from different backgrounds. Steven spent his whole life trying to be like his mom but he was raised for a long time by his father and is totally a little Greg sometimes. They are as in step and as close as people could be. Unless you mean the fusion as sex analogy

Pretty are that's what he means and I think that metaphor is good and buried.
Not buried really so much as like any good metaphor fusing is flexible and means what it's useful to mean at any given time.

Yeah, it can mean that, but it certainly doesn't always. Steven already fused with all the gems, individually and as a group in the finale.
Only a little bit more than an hour til the movie. If you don't have cable and haven't activated it YouTube TV has a free 5 day trial. You can activate it then immediately cancel and you'll still have 5 days of free YouTube TV
Still got 2.5 hours before it's on here.
Almost forgot about it before I saw this thread pop up.

I will admit.
That’s not how I pronounce Spinel.

I think that maybe
This miiiiight be the worst thing that Rose/Pink ever did.

Weren't people saying before that there was already another season planned? The combo of change your mind and this feels a lot like a finale to me
?
Movie spoilers
i mean, probably the biggest revelation for Steven in the end is that there is no happily ever after, that there’s always going to be another fight, more work, he’ll have to keep changing and growing, etc.

Yeah, but
There aren't any more antagonists.
Unless they keep diving in the well of "look at what Pink Diamond fucked up THIS TIME"

I think they said a long time ago that “who made the diamonds” was a thing they were going to get to eventually. And the movie still introduced elements that could factor into a new season, what with the timeskip and Steven and Connie going down a more explicitly romantic path now that they’re proper teens.
It’s not like dragonball ended after frieza. The villains don’t have to be prebaked into gem lore, it just needs to fit thematically with wherever they want the show to go.

More importantly,
there's really nowhere else for anyone's character arc to go. Every major tension in every major relationship has been resolved
like, they seeded the whole diamond thing early on obviously, but i dunno, something about that resolution feels too... neat? i really liked what they were doing with Spinel's character, and how she was so traumatized by what happened to her that she wasn't willing to trust Steven even though he was offering her what she needed. When she said that she felt like she's already ruined their relationship, I thought it was gonna sit with the idea that like, yeah, moving past all of this is gonna be hard, but hard isn't impossible.
But then the diamonds show up and oh ok I guess everything is magically perfect?? there's something about the dynamic that they settle into in their song together that i really dislike. i get that the idea is supposed to be, y'know, the diamonds are empty nesters who feel like they need someone to dote on, and Spinel is hurt and traumatized and in need of a lot of attention and care. but the ways they talk to and about each other feels... unhealthy, for everyone involved. The diamonds seem like they're eager to shove someone back into the role pink diamond used to fill, which was... so bad for pink diamond that she started a 5000 year long war. and even if it's exactly what Spinel wants or needs, it feels like the wrong character beat for them, and maybe even a step back from Change Your Mind when they all came to grips with the fact that Pink really was gone and they needed to move on with their lives. And on Spinel's end... she's a different person than she used to be, and it seems to me like she'd want to relate to other people in different ways now. maybe what I wanted to see would've felt too much like a rerun of Lapis, but, I dunno. it felt like a flat note for her arc to end on.
overall though i really liked the movie. the emphasis on reflecting on everyone's growth over time really made it feel to me like a button on the entire series, rather than setting up for something new. I wouldn't object to getting more SU, but I'd also be fine just leaving everything here.
there were a ton of great bits but i think my favorite part was steven and amethyst's song. I think their emotional dynamic is my favorite one in the series.
