I have tickets for April 1st here in munich. Really looking forward to it. A few years ago I watched gladiator with live orchestra and that was incredible.
TLJ finally showed up in the dollar theatre, so now I get to see it (finally) for the first time on the big screen

Finished reading all the stories in From a Certain Point of View.
I actually found it refreshing. Sure, there are some gems, and some filler, but overall I get a different sense from reading this collection of glorified fan fic than I did other EU collections in the past. Usually, stories seem written for the fans, pulpy uneven tales that feel like a form of commercial, if respectful, fanservice.
Reading this, I felt more like the authors were writing for themselves, genuine labours of love and gratitude for this fandom we all share in. There was a level of meta to the stories, an authenticity of happiness to get to share with other fans. Reading it felt like being inside the tree house, sharing stories around a campfire with old friends. I have no idea if this is true or not, whether it was just some idealistic romanticism I projected onto my experience, but it felt new and familiar and personal in a way I don't often get from anything that isn't an autobiography. The stories told were fictional, but imbued with more of the author's voice and a part of themselves that felt more real, if that makes sense. It wasn't overt, but at one stage my wife asked how it was, and my answer, after thinking about it, was "sincere", and I think that's true.
The stories themselves were ordinary to good. Getting to share in them with the authors was the value of the price on the cover. And I'm left slightly melancholy I'll never get to read it again for the first time.
So I guess that's my point of view on From A Certain Point of View.
it looks like those are single disc releases. why would you buy those when there are excellent 2 disc versions of the OT and phantom menace? I think you can even buy them as FLACs on some websites.

Reshoots mean nothing really , but gee, I'd be excited if Disney wanted to promote this, but the fact that the first trailer came out like, three? months before its release date for a franchise this big is a huge red flag.
It's a movie that the producers do not have faith in.
Is this the one where they brought in an acting technician to fix the leads acting or is that something else
Apparently that's actually not uncommon in the moviemaking process, but it's just something we, the public, don't hear about so it came off as worse than it probably was.

Finally got to watch TLJ last night. I've avoided pretty much every spoiler (other than a shot of Phasma vs Finn, which is barely a spoiler), and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I had some issues with the pacing, and although I really love Rose, and appreciate what they were trying to do with the casino scene, I felt it was a little much.

I mean any director can make bad movies. And good movies. The fact that there were seemingly massive reshoots does not make me have lots of confidence in the film they were creating. Not that I think the massive reshoots will turn the final product into a good film either.

I am of the opinion that the central problem is that either needed to keep Rose and Finn on the ship, while still giving them the same plot, or they needed to cut the whole ticking clock aspect and let it be more freewheeling and come up with a less character destroying flaw for Poe to have.

I feel like the ticking clock wasn't nesc the issue as it was just the amount of time you can get away with in a movie. Granted, I would have been down for a 3 hour movie with a less cuts and more character moments, but if you have to start cutting things, maybe start with the "I live on a desolate island, where I drink green milk and spear big fish" montage.

The ticking clock makes Finn and Rose's plot weird where they are in a tight scary chase but oh wait everyone we care about can pretty much leave whenever they like. People join or leave that chase like its no big deal three or so times. If you keep the chase you should keep people engaged with it as much as possible.
Also that would mean the time spent setting up casino world and all the subplots there actually feed into the central conflict so hopefully we give Poe vs the admiral enough time that she comes off more reasonably and he comes off as doing what he does out of desperation instead of immediately deciding she is wrong because she is a women wearing a comfortable dress.
I mean this is a joke but yes you need to devote some time to seeing how Luke is living and having some fun. You can't just cut everything that isn't a plot point.

Slight catch: CDs only; no announced or planned digital download yet
I like that a new physical remaster set is being made available, just not sure if making it only physical is the best move here.
...looks at CD collection..with the OSTs, the OT box set, the SE re-releases, and the TPM complete score, I think I’m good.
Howard apparently reshot the whole film from scratch

It certainly won't be as good as a film directed by Lord and Miller.

Honestly every report that comes out of it makes it look like lord and Miller were just not ready for this.
also i had to make this after i watched it

Huh.
I really like fanboys, although the last time I saw it I did get taken out by the gay panic stuff. No wonder it felt so left field
