I really don't like the "wink and nod" aspect of the video regarding the racial and gender politics of the disco backlash - the reality was that disco was popular among many marginalized groups, and the rock fandom was pretty white and male.

he also left out the bright idea of the White Sox wearing shorts for a game

Whe The Loop went off the air earlier this year all I could think of was this Kids in the Hall sketch...
I've been waiting for this one. good episode too. very interesting to focus on the fitting.
I've never actually watched their stuff before. Dang, that was cool. All the little touches that went into it was very neat. Also, that guy's shirt choices were on point for the entire episode.
Also, Just want to add: They made cutting that tatami mat at the end look trivial, but it's harder than it seems. They aren't slouches!

Dear god, that episode screams "unfortunate implications". I get that the sakaba-to is one of the Iconic Anime Swords, but given what happened earlier this year, they really should have passed.
The creator of Kenshin got nailed for possession of child porn. It's why they haven't continued the Hokkaido Arc in the US WSJ, even though they did in the Japanese version.
Edit: Mother's Basement talked about it in his video on works with problematic creators:

woof. well.
That's what I get for not following anime news I guess

There are a lot of episodes of this where I watch and I get the sense that they might be interested in the particulars of the build but not really enthusiastic about the weapon itself, but this episode really seemed like a labor of love. It was kind of like an Ilya spotlight episode and even though I don't know dick about Rurouni Kenshin, I can tell his heart went into this one in a big way.

I'm confused over a specific sword having implications of child porn? Or is it like a sword used by an underage character in a show or?

The creator of the show the sword is from was caught with it.

Ohhhhh, I thought it was one of the people who were on the forging show who was caught with the child porn, I now see where I was confused
Earlier this year, Watsuki was fined 200,000 yen ($1,870) for violating the country’s child pornography law for this possession.
Starting June 4, however, Rurouni Kenshin’s “Hokkaido Arc” will return to print. The manga publication Jump Square’s editorial department offered a deep apology for the long hiatus from print and to everyone involved for causing concern and problems.
Continuing, it added, “The author spends his days reflecting and with remorse, and think as though it’s our obligation as a publisher as well as his as an author make a way for us to reply through the work to the various opinions we’ve been getting, and so, from the July issue, which goes on sale June 4, serialization will resume.”
The magazine asked readers for their understanding.

Again, it's worth noting that Shuesha didn't even try to do that in the US, instead just dropping the title completely here.
Not a popular opinion but, it seems like as a society we should be past demonizing someones sexuality by now as it's not a choice. If you liked it before, his sexuality shouldn't influence your enjoyment of it anymore then if he was gay. Obviously pedophilia cannot be accepted because the children become victims, but right now, if you got stuck with the shittiest sexuality you can't get any help other then the old yeller style help that if people are feeling generous would offer. There needs to be serious help for those people.
I get that Rurouni Kenshin is forever tainted by the news of its creator, and I'd be unlikely to ever watch the show again
But man, I adore the idea of a reverse-blade katana, and it's both shocking me and also a shame that Kenshin is still the only anime we associate with the concept
I always figured at least a few later shows would rip it off, but I can't think of any that did

I imagine months. Minimum
How long ago was the news?
Spring of this year, as I recall.
yeah it's possible they were already in production when the news broke I imagine.
Horrible timing.
It became known around November of last year. The manga restarted this June.
