Samurai, Harvest, and I heard one of the sunglasses items was available as layered armour, too?
I'm not sure the shades are available as a layered version yet.
At least the Harvest armor has some nice pieces that recolor well even when used separately from the whole set. My character still looks like he's dressed to perform in a pirate theme porn video but at least his pants now fit better.
i've been back in a switch axe renaissance throwing together all these empress gamma builds
found a guide on youtube from a guy with a couple of speed runs on there and the main difference in playstyle, aside from more general competence at not getting hit, seems to be a higher emphasis on switching between forms even in reaction to individual attacks, especially with the downward fade slash out of sword mode which is a move i don't use regularly. it pops you backwards further than a sidestep, has a big motion value if it lands, and can be immediately comboed back into sword mode to recover about half the distance you move back
one of my empress builds is nutz, but can't squeeze in evade extender, so i may try running that build for a while to see if i can get into the habit of using morph attacks for positioning and not chasing with sword mode rolls and shit

I'm feeling cross with whoever at Capcom decided MH3U, MH4U, MHGen, and MHGU should endlessly recycle MH Portable 3rd HD's muddy textures for 3rd gen equipment, rather than upscaling from Tri's higher-resolution textures.
I'm really quite bothered by my favorite gear all looking like crap in 1080p when I know it looked better in the oldest version of the game on the least powerful hardware, in 480p. I've done the comparison to be sure. It's no miracle, but there is more clarity and detail.
Amateurs fooling around have been able to dump MHTri's complete models and textures. They've shown up in Smash Bros. hacks and even Garry's Mod. Capcom still has their MT Framework tools. There's really no excuse for such laziness.
MHGU has a lot less people playing it than is normal for a MH title and it is making me sad.
I keep putting up Deviant turns rooms and either people leave when they don't like the Deviant someone put up on their turn or someone choose a 5 and the group looses and then everyone leaves.
It is getting frustrating.
All I want to do is get my rust razor armor useable. Will probably have to farm rust razor alone.
Mostly just huntin' monsters.

Built up some zorah pieces last night to get the mastery effect, but I really miss some of the stamina skills (mainly constitution) that I had on my LR stuff. Not sure if I am going to keep that.

Paid Nintendo Online probably had a big effect on the number of people playing, not to mention MHW. I am going to want rustrazor armour eventually but I'm not confident enough to fight Deviants. I did try the redhelm arzuros on my own and even the first level was tough although perfectly doable.

I think it's more MHW, and this being the expansion sequel and such.

I really want to play a ton, and I do check online when I play. I don't seem to be syncing up with everyone very well this time.
If you see me on, even playing solo, I'm down for multi.

Yeah, still being in HR and doing most of my stuff solo stops me from joining most of y'all right now in G rank. While it was nice to get carried through some of those hunts a few weeks back, it didn't do much to help me with just how much I just suck in this game while I felt like I was pretty decent in World. It's really tempting to just drop GU and pick up World on PC while it's on sale.

There's no new MH game on the horizon, so I think GU is going to have a pretty long tail, at least in terms of MH PAers. Don't worry! We'll still be around for you when you hit G-rank.
So my GS has a negative affinity, but I've geared myself up to get extra affinity when hitting weak spots, which in theory should always give me positive (or no) crits on weak spots. And hitting the training area post seems to confirm it.
However, when fighting monsters, I'll still see yellow numbers with blue crits. Is it an issue with seeing yellow numbers where I should not, or do monsters have something that lowers affinity on hit?
After several months off.. I made a new character for the harvest festival. Great Sword exclusive. It's fun to rush the story in the harvest armor. Also cutscenes with the handler in her costume were weird because she would pull down the flower over her eye and pretend it's a lens.
Also playing around with some alternative GS moves. A L3 tackle into the L3 leaping slash is pretty good when the situation warrants!

@MonkeyConQueso I could see you online in MHGU, but can't join you even though we're Switch friends. Are you really not in the PA Monster Hunter Discord?
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

So she'll be the actual hero by the end of the first movie and have superpowers by the third.
She's playing someone named Artemis. Not sure if that's a reference to a character from an older game. While Tony Jaa is playing "The Hunter". I'm just excited we get Ron Pearlman as The Admiral.
Spray liberally with Axe for the authentic experience.

Oh no, I found a website where you can order those while living in not japan. I wonder how bad the shipping is gonna be, they don't give estimates on preorders.

Is it Ami Ami? The shipping is actually pretty great, it's just that they're usually so back ordered on everything, it takes them a while to actually ship their things. I've ordered 2 times from them, both times it took less than 21 days to get my stuff once shipped.

Playing through the campaign for MH:W for the first time. I currently am on the stage where you kill Rathalos and Diablos. Rathalos was actually easy, once I figured out that he made his nest near a water dam.
Diablos.... well he’s a bit harder. I’ve failed numerous attempts, but this game is so good, instead of throwing the mouse in disgust and walking away, I spent a few more hours harvesting/killing stuff and improving my armour.

If you're using a weapon set that can block I suggest focusing on doing so. There are some moves with Diablos where dodging is just impractical (unless you have improved dodge) and with the stun one mistake can lead to a cart. Paying a small health/stamina/sharpness cost for being safe is totally worth it.

@NEO|Phyte You wouldn't care to share that link, would you? Asking for reasons of assembling a Dodogama army.

some spots are softer than others. yellow is more normally effective/weak, vs. white which is out and out resistance
Well, huh.
Maybe it'll be as good as the first Resident Evil flick.
