It's dull as hell watching a high level Olimar getting to finals pretty much only using side b and upsmash out of shield. At least Links and Richters need to think about mixing up their projectiles.
I'm yet to go online but am having a blast trying out people. I wish I was better with Duck Hunt but it just ain't happening.
My best are Snake and Isabell.
I feel like Simon is getting there (is there any real difference between him and Richter? I see everyone here uses Richter). I also like Olimar and Dr. Mario a lot.
No Smash game has ever kept my interest this long. Every day still I think Ill do a little World of Light for like 15 minutes and then whoops an hour is gone.

Simon’s Holy Water is Fire damage and will ignite bomb boxes and not hurt red pikmin. Richter’s Holy Water is physical damage that is coded as the same type of damage as Lucario’s aura. That’s literally the extent of their mechanical differences.
The most moral Smash Bros. characters are from the Pokémon games and, especially, Animal Crossing. They never canonically kill anyone in their games, right?
Least moral is Olimar, who enslaves a local population and has them fight and die for his own personal gain.
Olimar is... more complicated than that. I mean you aren't totally wrong but...
Pokémon are on a sliding scale of sapience and Mewtwo and Lucario are very definitely at the top of that scale. Inceneroar is probably up there too considering it has enough social knowledge to know how to play a crowd.
Pikachu/Pichu/Greninja/the Kanto starters are probably nothing special.

Er, kinda.
Each pikmin has a health value and a priority value and each pikmin is generally good at doing specific things. I think Blue might have the longest grab range (it’s been a while since I played a pro Olimar).
You generally want to keep Red and Yellow ones as they have the longest reach and highest damage. You also need to just be aware of your pikmin order so you know when it’s best to grab or just toss them or go for a kill. Olimar also has a couple of moves that don’t use his Pikmin. Pikmin also don’t have an active hurtbox until you throw or swing them, so they are safe unless you do that.
Olimar is insanely complicated and not at all newbie friendly.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Oh God Olimars are doing so much shit when they are picking up and throwing their Pikmin, they aren’t doing it indiscriminately.

I know but even if they do have sapience there's no reason to expect them to intrinsically understand or care about human based morals.

I haven't heard much talk about yellow pikmin in this game. Reds and purples are as powerful as ever (purple moreso but with less range and not as good for just tossing, barring when you are trying to protect yourself on the way back to the stage). White pikmin have always been good for grab range too, but don't have the throw power that blues and purples have. Honestly not too sure on the grab side of things, since all the pikmin grab together in Ultimate. Not sure how that affects grab range and power, or if that's just a visual thing and they just use your first pikmin like any other attack.

I mean yeah, I know he's the RTS character of Smash, but it's still boring to watch. Even if they're carefully managing the order it still plays out as tossing them over and over and over and over and over and over

Being boring and not having to think about it are two different things! I find the Belmont’s to be way more boring since it’s basically a flowchart on which part of the stage they wanna cover with their projectiles, it’s way easier.

Lucario's unique ability is literally being an empath and the first movie was all about Mewtwo waxing poetic about the nature of life and what about the human condition sparked his existence, they've definitely got a grasp on human morals.

Yeah, I shouldn't have phrased it like that--I moreso just meant that they have to vary up their projectiles, not that that necessarily requires more thought.

I mean my least favorite characters for how they play are Marth/Lucina, Roy/Chrom, Sonic.
Projectile characters are only truly aggravating with lots of lag, which come to think of it explains why Munkus dislikes the belmont boys so much.
It’s annoying because they are so stupidly easy to beat and read their projectiles. I never lost a smash game to pure projectile spam in person. The closest ever was against Brawl Olimars but that wasn’t even pure projectile spam as I said, it took a shitton of effort on both sides to keep that even.
You play a dude with high aerial mobility and see how many fucks you give about the Belmonts

The funniest thing about this is that it was just a few pages ago that basically everyone was extolling how Chrom is the most boring protagonist in all of Fire Emblem.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Chrom's a pleasant conversationalist who likes talking to people, has interesting stories to tell, and is good at getting people to talk about themselves
He'd probably be genuinely great to have a beer with

Plus you know Samus is one of those gets really deep, opens up about some past trauma, laughs it off, drinks nine shots cold, then something flips and a body is getting a bottle to the back of their head.
My conception of off-duty Samus is more of a noir mysterious stranger loner type nursing her drink than a raucous drunk
definitely not the type to open up when drunk

I feel like literally everyone’s own personal imagined Samus is more interesting than anything we’ve ever been shown in-game. She’s actually pretty fascinating study in character design that way.
also as much as we all want Samus to be ripped it's pretty clear nintendo doesn't care about that old art and doesn't consider it canon anymore, if they ever did

Each pikmin has different properties for his attacks his whistle reorders them so you can choose which ones to attack or throw
That's kinda cool and weird. I like the characters that have weird mechanics

she is, but the people who taught her the way of the world were not and that cultural imprint left its mark
(disclaimer: I know jack shit about Metroid lore beyond the very basics)
