And the month between the Prologue and Mission 1, V stays in Redgrave city trying to keep Urizen from absorbing blood from people to keep him from getting any stronger.

I need to find a good summary of the prequel novel since I've heard some interesting tidbits in it.
Like Nero, Nico, and Kyrie are running an orphanage in their home, and they have a "no swearing" rule in the house. So that's why Nico uses more juvenile insults with Nero (ie. "Up your butt?").
Plus Lucia is in it, and it explains where Dante got the Balrog weapon (apparently Balrog was the new King of the Fire Hell after Dante had killed Berial in DMC4, then Dante defeats Balrog and turns him into the weapon).
On another note, I didn't notice until last night that if you have all three of V's pets out, then all his tattoos disappear. Apparently each pet correspond to certain tattoos and those tattoos will disappear when the pet is summoned.
Finally S ranked missions 8 and 10. Only took 10 and 12 tries, respectively.
With Nero I started actually using the Break Age moves, though I'm not entirely sure if that's actually what made the difference.
With Dante, in the first few fights I used Royal Guard to get my style rank up before killing anything. That got me about 5500 points in the first fight.
I found some of the still images of Claire in RE2 to be weirdly offputting, but she looked good in motion and I didn’t have any problems with any of the faces in this. V in particular is a real cutey
Also I feel like Nico is obviously dressed provocatively, but I REALLY don’t get the impression the game is horny for her at all. She’s a fun character and I enjoyed her interactions with Nero. I usually have a visceral reaction to fanservice and didn’t here so idk
everyone talking about strategy and tips for this game makes it sound like homework
It is, at it's weird little heart, a fighting game for one. You can mash and still feel super awesome and fuck it there's nothing wrong with that, but if you wanna hop into the lab and get stylish as fuck, the option is there.
I'd like to crib off someone else's notes if they can explain how those buzzsaw lizards work, specifically if there's actually any counter to that saw move other than jumping around like an idiot and hope that they don't hit you?
On the occasions where I can avoid them, I generally end up dodging right into something else that's attacking me.

They slow down if you shoot them. You can attack them when they aren't glowing red to knock them out of the spin, but you still get hurt if you touch them so it's a little dangerous. You can also knock them out of the spin by shooting them a lot. Twosome Time is pretty good for that.
So the other day I was looking at those photos you get for clearing missions on your second go around. You always get two, usually one showing the boss and another showing something vaguely related. You can view them in the Gallery by going to the boss tab of the Enemy Reports, though they're kind of small.
So here's something I noticed with them...
(Character/Boss Spoilers)
Beating the boss of Chapter 11 has Trish in the second picture as you'd expect as that's the boss you "rescue" her from. Except in the picture she's wearing a red jacket over her outfit and has a pair of sunglasses. I don't think they would have modeled these things for a photo you only see at the end of a level on your second run, so that could be more evidence they intend to make her playable. From the linked translation of the novel I also saw it mentioned her using Artemis during her fight against Urizen, but that may just have been the setup for him turning the gun into a demon.
The weird one though, is beating mission 16 showed Lady fighting several of the game's enemies. I decided I wanted to beat mission 16 again so I could get a larger screenshot of it (from when it pops up on the mission results screen instead of in the gallery), except when I beat that mission tonight...only one photo popped up (the one of the boss). So I went back to the Gallery and it had disappeared from there as well. It's the only entry in the whole boss gallery that now has only one photo instead of two (not counting the Urizen entries that don't have photos). I don't know what happened to it.
Still, it does make me a little more likely to believe the rumor that they'll be playable.

Mission 19:
God this is just kicking my ass. Are there any worthwhile openings while he’s in his DT form? I feel like if I do catch one I get like two hits in before he’s done deciding to get hit and fucks off to do whatever.
Also I ended up having a good run, and said fuck it and in the end used both gold and red orbs to finish. But at least I’m past it.

I kited, air taunted, and occasionally shot at him while he DT'd
still gotta S-rank that one, but I really need to be patient and wait for that crack
also don't forget you can grab him with devil bringer on the right trigger when he's staggered
gets you a cool grapple animation and a decent chunk of damage to boot
I had WAY more trouble with the mission before that
of course, I suck with dante
and that boss has defenses against my gunslinging, which is my primary style so far
Miss me? Find me on:

About that...
if you get the opportunity, he's apparently super weak to the Double KaliAnn Gunslinger mega laser attack. Think it's just forward style, where you combine em and shoot a beam? Interrupts, breaks his parry and juggles him for massive damage.
Oh brilliant

Sorry, my original spoiler title might have thrown you off:
End game:
19 is the fight with Dante which kicked both our asses.
20 is the Nero one which was comparatively a cakewalk.
On the Dante fight I stuck with Balrog in punch mode with Trickster for all the dashes. I wouldn’t bother switching to kick mode at all, I’m sure the damage is better but it was just too slow. I’d wait for my opening, dash in, heavy jolt into the follow up, something dragon, to get the air juggle and then just go to town on regular punches to build flame. It feels so good to air juggle him, just doofy looking as hell.
For the most part I could do the first half up to the first DT activation pretty flawlessly it just gets hairy after that.
Other stuff now that I have seen the ending: I’m curious what Nero’s devil trigger means as I read it as neither brother thinking it was demonic. I need to go back and read the thread I’m sure there’s speculation.
Also that epilogue of Dante and Vergil fighting in hell was cute. I love how they seem to have moved past their shit but still keep fighting then the demons show up and Vergil is already anticipating the cheesy line.
the only stagger into Buster I managed to land is the first one it tells you how to do
I don't think I managed to stagger him again for the rest of the fight? I'm not even sure what does it
Is there an easy way to figure out which blue/purple orb fragments I'm missing? I was hoping they would add stuff like that to the Total Results screen.

I just evaded him in Devil Trigger, it's not super worth attacking him for the most part since he doesn't stagger, seems to take reduced damage, and can hit you for huge damage if you fuck up. He's also not super hard to evade once you know what shit he can throw at you, as long as that's all you're focused on. That being said, I did find I staggered him with my own devil trigger in the very last stretch of my winning attempt against him, so that might be an option too.

I believe the second photo depends on you getting S rank. Weird that the gallery would show whatever you got the last time and not just always show both after having gotten the S.
Bring Buster Breakers. DO NOT use Nero's new grab to Buster Vergil. Charge up and use the Devil Breaker instead. It does wwwaaaaaaayyyyy more damage to him.

Also
When Vergil staggers, he stays like that for quite a while. You can do a Showdown (DT only move with long windup) and still buster him afterwards.
I think they said somewhere that they gave her a similar skin tone, occasional stuttering, and that one hair strand that hangs down in front of her face as references to him.
But it's really weird that they kind of tapdance around saying who her father is in the game itself while the prequel novel just outright says it as soon as she meets Nero.
Also, according to the novel, Nico's mom met Agnus while they were both working at the evil corporation from Devil May Cry 2, before he got called back to Fortuna for cult business.

I like Nico when she isn't doing really, really, really bad line reads.
