I actually rather liked the Lady B fight, once I figured out to just run from her summoned minions. It's a fairly dynamic fight which and, unlike the bullshit Purple Ninja, doesn't involve insanely OP single attacks.

What OP attacks does the purple ninja have? IIRC the ninjas have a rare sweep, a common thrust kick, a leaping kick combo, and a big hanging axe kick
Most of those are pretty regular but the damage output is higher than most enemies. Spear counter vs the kick is pretty great though.

He also has a jumping hook kick that he'll use after a parry sometimes that you can shuriken him out of
Big difference in lady b and purple ninja is that I'm fighting the camera in this tiny ass pit with purple ninja, just makes it much harder for me to learn moves and what to do, or at least feel like I'm making progress run to run
i don't think the camera was that bad except that he breaks lock on in the tiny ass room so you can't back off and reorient. i was expecting worse tho from the complaints

Purple dude reminds me of Tito the Swift from Gigantic RIP
Tip for people looking for more basic upgrade materials.
If you spared the looter you can talk to in the
hirata estates
you find he moves to the gate before you get to the ogre under the chicken on the ledge.
He has a bit of a quest chain that starts by asking for a small donation, do that and come back later and you'll find his stock has expanded and he asks you to gather info about what the ashina castle soldiers want. YOu can find two guys chit-chatting at the Ashina approach to the serpent shrine/sunken valley. They tell you they need salt. Relay that info and go somewhere/rest. His inventory has expanded again and he sells basic iron and black gunpowder at 150 sen a pop
You don't have to spare him.
I assume because it's a memory, but he doesn't actually go away permanently if you kill him. You also don't lose out on the quest chain.

Here goes. I’ve ordered this. I haven’t been remarkably into the prior FROM games but the world design and thwipping mechanic, coupled with a tighter narrative, are drawing me in to see what I get out of this.
I just got the game a few days ago and am still pretty early into it but I am really enjoying the Batman style stealth from above gameplay. The counter move driven combat will still have to grow on me.
I've long enjoyed an idea about satisfaction in action games, and that is the concept of The Wham. The Wham is a crunchy, satisfying move - an overhead slam with a greatsword in Dark Souls/Bloodborne, the Stinger in Devil May Cry, the Helm Splitter in Devil May Cry - you get the idea. Something that when it connects feels big and inside you go "a-YAYUH!"
In this game you get it again and again, in totally different ways.
He lunges with that terrible spear - WHAM you stomp it into the dirt.
He throws you off and comes in with a mighty swing and WHAM you brush it aside and send him reeling.
Tap R1 and L1, focus your energies in the mighty Ichimonji technique as he gathers himself. WHAM.

Oh, didn't realize you could get to 7 spears that way.
That is uh...better than my clumsy duck dive dodge. Watching people play is so much cooler than watching myself play this game, because I always know what I'm gonna do :?

Here's the entirety of my fight against Lady B. I used every cheap trick I had at my disposal because honor is for sucker ass samurai and still barely won. I did finish this fight in what I felt was the best way possible

Beat the bull after wrestling with the camera. Dunno why it was fucking up so bad in that fight.
And pro-tip for Seven Spears: MIST RAVEN! That shit is OP as fk.
Every attack of his has a wind-up so it's crazy easy to time. Def my favorite tool so far. Can't wait to see how the upgrades work.
You can also spam jump and slash since he does unblockables a lot, but if he does the AOE swing you're screwed.

You learn to love spear guys because you Akiri counter them and feel like
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Beat this last night, on the most basic ending path. Final Boss was a real struggle and I pretty much hate the fight: way too many stages, inconsistent cues and hit boxes, wonky arena. But at least it's an appealing spectacle!
Immediately started NG+ and whooped on Genichiro at the start. Kinda hoped the game would make a bigger deal about that. Still, very satisfying.

Do you get any bonus for it, or does the Dragon God show up and falcon punch you into the stratosphere?

No bonus, but the cutscene changes a little bit:
Gen curses you out and clutches his bloody stomach, at which point the Nightjar (that carries Kuro normally) intervenes as you go for killing blow, throwing shuriken at your arm which is then cut off. Gen then remarks "a Shinobi should know the difference between honor and victory."

That's a pretty good diss.

I have two thoughts so far (I'm very much at the beginning).
- I preordered this but due to various things, I wasn't able to play until yesterday. I was actually a little hesitant because based on what the game's own director was saying, it was starting to sound less and less like a Dark Souls game and more like some game I never played before (Tenchu). I have no idea how much it resembles Tenchu, but, all-in-all, this is very much a Soulslike game and my fears were unfounded. At least, it's Soulslike enough that the core elements I love are still there.

- I forgot my second thought.
A game being like Tenchu isn't a bad thing at all.

Yeah, it's Tenchu in all but name, lol.
I'm neck deep in places to go now. The castle, the valley, the dungeon, yeesh.
Apropos of not much, I wish they had made it so positively progressing NPC questlines raised your Unseen Aid value. Having it be this value that could only decline, underscoring your lack of success, makes it feel extra bad. And it'd be nice if there were more meaningful rewards from the questlines.
On the whole, the Dragonrot/Unseen Aid dynamic feels a bit underdeveloped.
And similarly underdeveloped, nothing ever appeared in the Offering box by Hanbei. Is that something that only comes into play if you kill an NPC?

How do I Tenchu in a modern age? (Aside from Sekiro.)
