Was there a tournament of some kind today?

I can't find results and I wanted to look at that to see the performance of some of these decks in a competitive environment to see what looks bets to run.

I'm just gonna play Esper Stax and see how far I can get, it's not worth getting super hyped over. 50% of players will go 0-2 or 1-2 and the chance of going 11+ wins is close to 1 in a 1000.

So 4 out of my 6 Eldraine sealed decks have been BG, with a good number of rares to support it.

Maybe the 7th time will be differ-

Geez, I don't think you could do better if you were allowed to manually pick six different rares/mythics.

It’s not over yet but there’s an SCG Team Constructed event this weekend.

Well I lost the first game and then went on an 8 win streak until I finally faced down against the nut draw field of the dead deck and RIP

the yolo golo only got me to 2-2. lost to RB aggro decks both times which, ya know seems fair.

but also this deck seems busted against any midrange anything... and i refuse to ever play it in paper

That single Glaive of the Guildpact I slapped into my Ram the Gates deck just did work.

Fuck your 1/1 deathtouch weenies, my 17/8 Gate Colossus with Glaive don't care.

Threw together a deck designed to fulfil all of my three daily quests ASAP, then went into that "Win Every Card" event just to get the sleeve.

Did manage to win one game. Which was one more than I'd been expecting.

This is a total crap deck I just started dicking around with in Play mode, but whenever it wins I just feel special. I present 'Protection At Any Cost'.

I am sad there does not seem to be any more creatures in arena to add to it besides Blightbeetle.

Got two wins with a kinda-janky wolves themed deck so i switched to a knight deck i know better after losing.... hopefully i can get more wins. :) My first game with the deck was against someone who clearly didn't understand Oko, Thief of Crowns.

I had a good combo on the field for, like, 5 turns and won with that. They..... didn't turn any of my creatures into elks, opting to make food instead. Food they tried eating to avoid death. Felt kinda bad to win honestly... but it's not like i can let my opponents know they've won the game, i wanna weeeeeeeen

EDIT: I did not get more wins. I lost immediately after. Thos nissa hydra decks are pretty good.

i was playing the nissa hydra deck and just lost immediately to somebody's jank vampires, which is absolutely what i deserved. and then after two wins i timed out while i was trying to work out how much mana i had for one of the hydras and instantly got all my lands defeaning clarioned. i feel like i would've lost anyway but idk

So I went 2 and 2 with jeskai fires superfriends and it is a super fun deck even if i can never afford it

but my inexperience piloting it did cost me game 4 when I forgot to tick up sarkhan for lethal and they had lethal next turn

I played Stax and while the deck was great against the Oko deck I played it was terrible against the two Golos decks I lost two. Matchup seems impossible in bo1.

Got to 6 wins with RB aggro. I like that deck but there's a lot of rares and mythics for just an aggro deck, so I'm gonna hold off on crafting it. I think I lost to Simic Flash and some Teferi bullshit.

Went 2/2 playing Esper Stax. Both losses were to the same person on Simic Flash, which the deck is really, really bad against.

I haven't tried the event yet, but a friend of mine apparently went 9-2 doing Rakdos Aggro. Says there's a metric fuckton of Golos. It really doesn't sound terribly fun, in all.

The most painful thing to see when casting drawn from dreams in a fires deck:

6 lands and another drawn from dreams.

So I've been tuning an Izzet deck since Throne dropped. Started out as the Phoenix / Drake deck with new editions of Irencrag Pyromancer and Improbable Alliance, moved on to just Phoenix and cutting the drakes to make it more focused. Current revision has now cut the Phoenixes because they honestly felt completely opposite of what Irencrag and Alliance want to do. It's not really an aggro deck anymore. It feels like a midrange deck that's on the verge of controlling.

Last game I played was against Mardu Knights and ended with me winning while stabilizing at 1 life with all 4 Improbable Alliances, 8 Fairy Tokens, and 3 Irencrag Pyromancers on board and 10 cards left in deck. It's been a blast to play! A tip is to actually play pretty slowly. You honestly only really want to draw twice a turn and what to try to set up to do so on your and your opponent's turns. 6 mana is also a good break-point and goal. I may go to 6 Islands and 7 Mountains instead of 5/8

I'm interested. I just lost a tough 3 to a more standard phoenix player and the scions and thrill looked real good... actually i think i can try this out since i have the old phoenix deck crafted. will def try out!

Have fun and play slow (slower than you would with Phoenix)! You *really* only want to use one draw effect a turn. The early game is a bit shaky because you don't really get online and rolling until turn 3 or 4. A lot of streamers and such are still running the lists with Phoenix but I like this a lot more.

I could see replacing Lava Coil with Scorching Dragonfire depending on if that 1 extra damage is needed.
I could also see replacing Winged Words with Risk Factor. But maybe that starts to push back towards Phoenix what with having more Jump-start. I'm definitely going to try this substitute out.

I went 5-2 with mono black aggro. Which was better than I expected to do, and I pulled a Garruk and Once Upon a Time so pretty happy. To be fair, though, one of wins was against someone that timed out and several others were against obviously bad decks. Simic Food ran all over me.

Got 4 wins with Stax. Losses were to a mirror maindecking Unmoored Ego and called Dance of the Manse--no way to really win that game after that. Other was this self-mill deck that used Blood For Bones and the new Adamant revive spell to loop things like Agent of Treachery and Scholar of something (5UU 3/3 M20 uncommon that lets you get two spells from graveyard as it comes in)

    FF XIV - Qih'to Furishu (on Siren), Battle.Net - Ilpala#1975

Mirror match vs esper stax, I lose round 1 and go to my sideboard.

He uses thought erasure on me three times, each time he decides to let me have Ashiok.

Then after I have dealt with his board a bit I drop them and erase three of his doom foretold's from the GY and he realizes his mistake.

Yeah... Narset is pretty much game over if you don't have board presence. Part of why I was considering Scorching Dragonfire. Teferi hasn't caused me any trouble though. Haven't felt any real pressure any time he's come down.

Thankfully I've only run into one Narset post-rotation. One. If she were more popular this deck would be a really bad meta-game choice.

welp. Went 4-0, then proceeded to get slaughtered by a white combo deck that created a shitload of 4/4 angel tokens. Then got mana screwed on my next round.

Ah well. still got 3 free rares, so thats something.

It's cheap as hell, but it's efficient.

I'm trying to decide if I want to cut Shock to add 2 more each of Chandra and Torbran, but I'm not sure.
