I've got the Tobin's Spirit Guide video up in 4k and I'm tracking through it to read the text. It doesn't have the cadence of an algorithm to me. I'm softening up on my rabid skepticism. It's somebody's fanfiction, but someone who at least is not coming off to me as cynical. Some passages may also be from demonology books that are now in the public domain, which I also do not have a problem with.
I'd prefer some transparency but the book actually looks good! Real work seems to have been put into it! I did not have time to analyze it before and it wouldn't have been the first time someone sold an unauthorized Tobins filled with low-effort pulp so I kinda defaulted to pessimism. I'm now much more optimistic.
I the front of the book it will mention all those who helped on the project, there is quite few fans that added to the articles but the majority of the book has been written / put together by Indy Magnoli.
I think they meant In, not I at the beginning.
I'll keep my preorder for now, though I'm not even in the first wave.
EDIT: I thought that was just their cute name for their India branch, but Indy Magnoli is a person?!?!
I hope the bulk of that guide is filled with ghosts and things from all across Ghostbusters multimedia. Like every one to appear in Real Ghostbusters, Extreme, the comics, the video games... oh, and the movies, of course.

There's a really good, official-but-short guide that Erik Burnham wrote years ago when he was still doing the IDW comic series.
It has a lot of reimaginings of the RGB monsters.
I just gave Microsoft ClipChamp a try for the first time. I haven't edited video since high school.

Watching Ghostbusters as a kid, did all the "business" aspects of what they do fly right over anyone else's head?
Especially while watching Real Ghostbusters, they always felt more like heroes than businessmen to me, even with the occasional billing and stuff that occurred. It wasn't until I was older that I think I really "got" some of those intricacies more.

The original movie especially is many different things at once and what parts you pick out to pay attention to differs from person to person. It's the main reason IMO that it has aged as well as it has compared to its contemporaries.
The going-into-business story is a major part of the film. The guys not being heroes but blue-collar, working stiffs for whom banishing demons from the physical plane is as mundane a job as cleaning out a restaurant grease-trap. It's my favorite part, to be honest. It's the thing that allows the comedy, the horror, and the special effects to all work without running each-other over.
As a kid I saw them like Police or Firemen (the way a kid sees those two professions through a heroic lens). They're someone you call when you have a problem. They weren't super heroes though, and that was pretty novel.
Hasbro has a video up showing of more of PKE meter and trap, including showing off an early version of EMF functionality.
Sadly, no confirmation on when the release date is, other than Fall. I imagine if they were confident in getting it out before halloween, they'd say so.
I got to handle the PKE meter and talk to Zack Spina who did the electrical engineering. It doesn't feel as dense or high-impact as my Matty PKE and the prototypes at least seem like they'll need some weathering to not look so much like toys. Definitely not as nice to handle as the Mattel, but at least the sounds are more accurate. It's also chunkier, but Zack was adamant it was the best he could do to get all the mechanisms into it.

I'm sure you know this but just to call it out, I have no doubt that the choice to give them a firehouse as their HQ and an old-school ambulance as their response vehicle was 100% intentional. These are first responders that just so happen to be responding to some new kind of crazy shit, but the general idea is the same.
Kind of unrelated but @TankHammer are you familiar with anything Ghostbusters related that was like...a children's book-on-tape from the late 80s or early 90s? I feel like I remember having something like that as a kid, that had an illustrated book that went along with a narrated cassette or something like that. I have an extremely vivid memory of listening to it in my mom's room late at night and it having a super spooky soundtrack that I can kind of reimagine now, but I've never been able to track down anything online that seems to fit.
so that's what I found when I was suddenly struck by the memory a few years ago, and it's entirely possible that that's it and my dumb child brain just turned it into something else, but the voice doesn't sound right (I remember a much deeper and spookier narrator) and it doesn't have any of the story beats or musical cues that my (again, young dumb child) brain remembers
which just means, I can't say no but I'm really hoping there's something else out there that the Internet missed that proves I'm not fully crazy

I guess it doesn't matter since it comes with its own holster, but that new PKE meter sure isn't going to fit in any of our existing holders what with that trigger on the back of the handle.

It might fit in mine? At least it does have a flip-cover to protect it. I'm using the standard tape-measure holder on my belt that has the cutout on the bottom to let the handle fall through.
Like Zack said, though, there's a threaded screw in the bottom to attach a D-ring if you wanna just hang it too.
Nah, that was Venkman in the commercial. Egon always had it in his hand.
Using a tape measure belt-holster was something fans came up with and it's pretty elegant.

My holster is leather and made to match the style of the other leather bits like the trap, belt gizmo, and radio holster. In Frozen Empire we get the upside down holster, which is actually super convenient to get the meter out and protects it a bit better. Is there a non upside down holster in Frozen Empire?
Though that isn’t a good metric as they probably just looked at fan designs.

Replaced the hose on my nephew's Haslab pack with a way better one. It is significantly more flexible. Was very easy. Had to cut apart the old hose to get at the wires to the wand connector but it came with solder-less connectors.
Next will be to replace the v-hook on the wand and the pack with proper real ones because the ones it comes with suck. Got to open up the wand to do that though so not today.

V-Hook replacement went very easy. Didn't even need to open up the wand the hook holes just lined up with the old ones. Next I cracked the cyclotron lid. Wanted to do something with the real obvious LED lights in there. Thought about truing to install the old red frosted lenses that I had in my pack before I installed the color changing video game lights but the old lenses are too thick to fit so I went low tech and taped two layers of parchment paper over the back of each lens which adds enough light diffusion to make the lights not seem so LED like.
Got my copy of Frozen Empire and watched it again. Still really like the movie. Started paying attention to props and details. My elbow pads are from a run of custom grey fabric pads with straps made of a specific width. Very professional looking. In Frozen Empire I am nearly 100% sure they are just using volleyball knee pads with the straps cut down and spray painted grey, which is what we all did before the custom made pads. You can tell because of the texture and how the edges of the straps curl up just like my old ones did. I think that is hilarious.
Trying to figure out if my nephew wants to Frozen Empire out his pack with the new ion arm, and bumper and other small details.
I work in a warehouse.
When it's hot like it has been lately, it's like working in an oven, the cement slab acting like a pizza stone.
Our employers, concerned with our safety, offer us cooling towels. Today, for the first time, I took them up on that offer and wrapped a wet cloth around my neck. I messed around with how to perch it, looking for maximum cool, in every sense of the word.
I eventually settled on draping it over my bald pate and tied it in the back. My impression was that it leaned pretty gangsta, but coworkers decided I looked a lot like a pirate.
I also happened to wear a Ghostbusters shirt today.
Late in my day, one of the inventory guys walked up and asked "Who arr ya gonna call?"
I felt tremendous shame at not thinking of that first, and can only blame the heat for frying my brains like so many eggs.
Also the Buffalo Ghostbusters shattered their $10k charity goal from Ghostbusters day this year with over $43+k going to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation charity for New York Firefighters.
Decided to take the plunge and modify my haslab pack for a talentcell. Except it's apparently kind of hard to ship a talentcell to Alaska. Amazon won't even do it.
I bought a 1984 HasLab wand for my pack, thinking it was the connections inside the pack that were giving me issues.
Turns out that isn't the case. The thing still powers off when I hit the "activate" switch instead of fully powering the wand.
This will take some consulting with the engineers of the group.
So you had the issue before you did any modifications at all? Even keepalive stuff?
I notice mine will do that super infrequently, but I figured it was due to the wand issue.
EDIT: Also I'm hearing that maybe doing a straight 5vs off of the battery might cause issues and a 5v to 6v booster might help, but that's basicaly just going off of this esty listing.
Elliott Kalan is writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
Kalan is best known for his time as the head writer of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” During his time with the show, he was part of the team that received seven consecutive Emmy nominations for best writing for a variety series, winning four. After that, Kalan was the head writer of the Netflix revival of the cult hit series “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” He is also known for co-hosting “The Flop House” podcast and for writing the comic book series “Spider-Man and the X-Men.”
Might turn out pretty good. At least until it gets to the third season and netflix kills it.

Extreme Ghostbusters only got one season so as long as they put the quality into this I'll be happy with one.
We all remember what happened when The Real Ghostbusters kept going.
I am just bracing for the backlash when a particular subset of adult fan finds out the thing they liked a lot when they were 5-10 years old has been revived and is aimed at 5-10 or 10-14 year olds.
That looks like a good fit and I look forward to an uneven, but genuinely okay first season, a fantastic second season, brilliant third season, and then summarily canceled fourth season.

My copy came with a cassette with no tape inside, so I've never actually heard it.
It was a colouring book, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to colour the illustrations in my perfectly good black and white storybook...
