Got into a discussion with a buddy about what songs produce the best covers, and I'm pretty sure basically every version of "Skulls" ever recorded rules. The original rips. The Lemonheads cover is a classic. I've seen everyone from The Get Up Kids to Ben Folds do covers of it live and they're all great. You can't help but turn in a gem when you set your sights on covering this song.
Huh, Alex Terrible, singer of Slaughter to Prevail, released a vocal cover of BFG Division from the DOOM 2016 soundtrack. Is it a cover if he just added lyrics/vocals over the original song, or is that called something else? Anyways, whatever it's called it's pretty dope imo
A comfortable deviation from Eternal Blue, but still keeping the feel of Spiritbox. Really enjoying the three songs each on their own. Definitely some NIN/Deftones influence in there too.
I've been plucking away on my guitar this morning just in a weird c major progression and it's cool being able to make sounds that are musical sounding even if it isn't very good sounding yet mostly because I'm picking through it really slow on my acoustic right now.
I think if I played it faster and on my electric it might sound cooler. I kinda want to get a looper pedal and put some actual chords behind it to see how that would sound.

I feel like Eternal Blue just came out, or have I lost all track of time.

I'm hearing big early alt vibes from Courtneys vocals. Something straight out of L7 or Garbage.

Had to throw on this heavy EP because fuck today. I still love everything about it and the animation they have for it. Top tier hardcore/metalcore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70cXs8hht_Q

There's Twitter discourse going on that life was better when Alien Ant Farm was popular and it's basically just the various parts of Twitter re-creating the video for These Days.

I got tickets for TDWP, Stray, and Dying Wish. I didn't know much about Dying Wish so I checked them out. Older 2000s Metalcore vibes with melo-death riffs. This is a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjUyvLGPRKs
So I had to postpone more guitar lessons until fall or so for budget reasons
And I'm already practicing way less than I was
I think I need to buckle down and try to learn another thing to keep me motivated. Maybe the minor scales?
That way I don't lose the major scale and new chords I've learned
I also really need to start practicing with a metronome and backing tracks I think
Have you learned the pentatonic scale yet?

Watching some of this guy's TikToks, I'm reduced to a blubbering waste of a drummer, like John Candy trying to take down the old 96er in Great Outdoors:
The new Coheed and Cambria album came out a couple weeks ago and I have been hyper-fixating on the final song of the album. It is a great showcase of the prog space-opera nonsense that they do so well.

Not digging it as much as their first single off their upcoming album:

I know the one shape of it, but don't really remember the formula but know it's made up of whole steps and 1.5 steps

How do blues scales work?
(i don't know)
Start with the pentatonic minor scale and then add the flat fifth. So in A minor its A-C-D-Eb-E-G. Its got that little run of half-steps.
Uh, this album is really good

In traditional Front Bottoms fashion, every line is crammed with slightly too many syllables and feelings.
