I think the fact that only one of my recently played decks was rendered illegal by these bans shows how fun to play I found these cards.

Cat ban is a good ban. Someone mentioned it doesnt go to time but it certainly does in mirrors. It is generally unfun in arena because of the way they handle triggers. I think judging bans today vs in the past isnt actually a good comparison. There are waaaay more tournaments being played through online and in general more games played. I think most of those cards should have been banned a long time ago. Also whoever argued they should fix aggro by printing better creatures is wrong. They would need to print aggressive things with trample and they literally have no way to release more cards into both paper and arena on short notice. They have to address problems with bans.

New State of the Game article is up (highlighting the key stuff):

Amonkhet Remastered is coming to Arena on August 13th.

    Events for Amonkhet Remastered:
    Premier Draft: August 13–September 17
    Sealed: August 13–August 21

    Rotation-focused events:
Starting on August 13, we'll be adding two additional, albeit temporary, queues for players to join: Standard 2021 Play and Standard 2021 Ranked. Both queues are Best-of-One and will only allow decks featuring cards from Throne of Eldraine forward. These queues let you get a preview of what next rotation might look like in case you want a head start on building your new deck or just a break from current Standard.

These queues will be available until September 17, at which point timelines converge, rotation happens, and Standard 2021 and Standard become one and the same. Additionally, players can look forward to a Standard 2021 Artisan event, August 22–27.

Anyone that has logged into Arena prior to September 17th will receive the Renewal gift egg, which will contain "bonus in-game card rewards, Zendikar Rising boosters, and a special card sleeve to commemorate the occasion."

Jumpstart event leaves Arena on August 16th, but will be brought back at some unknown point in the future.

Brawl will see changes to matchmaking that will weigh certain commanders competitiveness. Also Runed Halo is banned in Standard Brawl starting the 13th, and both it and Gideon's Intervention are banned in Historic Brawl.

    Changes to search functionality:
    Players can now search by:

    Mana cost (m: or mana:)
    m:x (all "X" spells)
m:gg (cards with two green mana symbols in the casting cost)
Artist (a: or art: or artist:)
    Flavor text (f: or flavor:)
    Loyalty (loy: or loyalty:)
Loy:>5 (planeswalkers that enter the battlefield with five or less loyalty)
We're also adding the functionality for y'all to search by certain traits using the "?" modifier:

    ?basicland
?commander (can be a Brawl commander)
    ?companion (can be a companion)
    ?booster (is found within boosters)
-?booster (is not found within boosters)
    ?transform
?split (split card, including Aftermath. The rule lawyers want to remind all players that Adventure cards are their own spell type, so use "?adventure" for those!)
    ?spell (everything but lands)
?permanent (everything but instants and sorceries)
    ?styled (has a card style)
And remember—these search options can be combined, so searching "?commander m:g" will return all commander cards with green in the casting cost! For a deeper diver into our advanced text search options, head over to our dedicated article.

Simic Flash is not exactly fun to play against but it's also not exactly the strongest deck. I think that flash is fine as long as you think counterspells are fine, and I do

Not really. Wilderness Rec/Nexus decks were beatable and there was a strong red deck to punish them. It's been a problem for a while but Nexus wasn't really as bad as when the Wilderness decks just realized Explosion was good and Uro+Triomes+Shark was unbeatable.

Sorry if it wasn't clear; I was playing Lurrus companion enchantment and got my Lurrus down through his hand of counters and bounces, at which point the guy just stalled.

    Just as a reminder:
    • Wizard's servers have been dogshit lately, resulting in excessive amounts of dropped games or disconnects that would appear as roping.
    • If a player blows through 2-3 ropes without doing anything and then concedes, they weren't roping you, they were just disconnected.

Like, in my history on Arena, I have seen maybe two cases that were clearly intentional roping, and way, way more things that were just "the opp disconnected."

This guy was setting stops in my upkeep phase.
And conceded before damage the turn he would have lost, after roping me for 4-5 turns and flashing in a blocker.

At least if I'm losing and getting slow-played I can concede.

Turns out you cannot get 2x mythic rare showcase cards in Double Masters VIP boosters, only 1x mythic and 1x rare. The back of the pack literally says you can get 2x mythics.

If you bought any Double Masters VIP boosters prepare to receive your settlement in the inevitable false advertising class action lawsuit.

I went from one of the best jumpstart combos I've had yet, Milling Walls (it was so nasty) to possibly one of my worst.

Archaeology Dragons, and both just terrible pulls of each to boot.

Is there a term for anti-synergy? 1-9 with it might just give up on second card

To clarify things: mythic chance in the mythic slot is double normal at 66%, so pack EV isn,'t wrong. 2x rares or mythics is vague enough that it could mean "2x [rares or mythics]", not 2x rares or 2x mythics (and obviously does yo include 1x rare 1x nythic). It is terrible marketing but also less gambley than usual with more consistent mythics and likely not false advertising.
