If you've been on the PA forums for any length of time, you know who Zeboyd Games are- the development house behind such games as Cthulu Saves the World, Breath of Death VII, and the latter two Penny Arcade Adventures (is Gabe still punching Dr. Blood, even now, by the way?). This is another one of their projects- and honestly, I think it's just as good as everything else they've ever put out.
I really like Alyssa- then again, I do like strong female lead characters; they're just refreshing instead of having to deal with a generic guy for the 845,392nd time as MC- and I really like her attitude and everything else. I've been having a lot of fun learning the battle system, and seeing what everyone's strengths and weaknesses are as far as fighting. Granted, I don't think I'm very far, but what I've played is a whole lot of fun. It's also really nice that you don't have to worry about MP or anything- if you want to cast all your big abilities again, all you have to do is rest a turn and suddenly you can go busting all over again and again and again- I also really like the mortal-damage system- if someone goes to negative HP, you still get a chance to heal up or go out with a huge bang and do extra damage- though honestly, I'm already seeing a lot of possibilities in how the characters are built as to just how much I could do with them. I already have one built as a red-mage of sorts, able to start out with a full team heal or nuke, depending on what's needed when it comes up with her turn.
The abilities are so much fun to mix and match and play with, but I haven't found any of these combo moves yet, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing them or if they're not until later in the game?
The story is actually pretty solid- and I also love the animations. They look just as good as some of the early stuff you saw on things like the TG-16, Super Nintendo, Genesis, etc.- but the digitized song in the nightclub was also really nice, because yeah, it could have been nice and clear, but it sounds like an actual 16-bit voice clip (I think the only other voiced song I can point to as evidence on this is the Power Rangers theme song from their game), and I -love- little things like that.
I also love the cameos by other characters from some of their other games- I'm sure I've seen Cthulu on a weapons shop sign, and Paws walking around the nightclub neighborhood talking about how felines are the superior beings to humans.
Are there any bad things...? Well... a lot of the battles just feel really sloggy to me- I imagine it's because of all the options and how often you can use them, all the enemies seem to have had their HPs buffed up the wazoo to compensate, and it just makes battles drag on and on and on- it's like... it shouldn't be a slog just beating up a bunch of trash enemies! If I'm of higher level, let me just roflstomp them and be on my way, like Earthbound did it...
But that's really only a minor quibble. I'll be keeping this installed, and it'll get finished at some point.
Anyways... what did we learn about eating kibble near the nav...?
...no, not 'bring some for everyone'- it's that one little fishy can cause that much in damage and downtime while we try to clean it out... and Bob almost got his tongue stuck because he had to try to eat it.

There's no interaction between Microsoft downloads vs Steam downloads correct? So my copy of Two Points Hospital on gamepass doesn't have anyway to access the Sega free items I assume?
I think they're given out in the TPH update that I downloaded yesterday. I tried to download the free objects and it just launched the game with nothing mentioned on the main menu. I didn't load a map so I don't know for sure, but if you have them they should appear in whatever object menu in-game.
As a followup, check that there isn't a title update. I downloaded the update and then tried to download the free items and as I said it just launched the game.
Well, I just now started the game, created and sandbox hospital and all four were there in the items list. When I manage my DLC it says they were installed in March of 2019. And that's when I first played TPH.

Battles starting feel like a slog at times is probably why I put Cosmic Star Heroine down. I do want to pick it up again but there were only so many battles I could do in a row and since there are no random encounters or respawning enemies you kind of do need to find every fight you can.

I want to say the entire game has a HLTB of around 8 hrs so overall it shouldn't be too much of a bear to finish
People in this thread get new hot gaming rigs and then play little puzzle games that could run on a toaster.
When I get a new rig I always play Unreal Tournament '99 on it. Always. It's tradition now. Such a fantastic game.
My last PC was right on the edge of being able to run The Witcher 3 playably, in 720p and low settings. It could get close to 30fps, usually around 27 or so. Going to this one that could run it with everything cranked at 1440p and at about 80-90fps was... a bit of a change!
The most demanding game I have is Ghost Recon Wildlands, which I think is just badly optimised. So that would probably be my go-to on a new rig. Even with my GTX 1080 it's usually around the 45fps mark. Crazy. Love the game, though.
Horizon Zero Dawn is a stunner that can push a PC too, despite its PS4 origins.
Anyway, when I upgraded my video card a few months ago, I booted up Control just to spin the camera around and have the game chug less. Still bottlenecked by the CPU, but it's better.

I dunno, I didn't have any problems with it.
Anyway, what I'm doing with my new PC is actually get around to playing Mirror's Edge Catalyst, because for some reason, despite my old PC being actually decently beefy (I didn't NEED this new one, it was more a present to myself), it was a slideshow.
For the record: Making a Mirror's Edge game open world was incredibly fucking dumb, but the movement is still great, and I am just ignoring all the ubisoft open world pickupables and beelining for the quests, and am having quite a bit of fun. For the five bucks it cost me back then, it's entirely worth it!

No, it's fine. I played it to completion with few issues. It had a rough start and needed some patching, but they've got it pretty well nailed down now.
Horizon Zero Dawn is a stunner that can push a PC too, despite its PS4 origins.
It can push a PC because you can push the settings wayyyyyyy beyond what a PS4 can do. The default "medium" settings in the PC version are the PS4 settings.

Yeah, you can push it far harder than even a PS4 Pro can, and obviously at higher framerates - even a Pro still only does 30fps in that game.
Crosscode news.
tl;dr is that they're working on getting the console versions up to the current patch, and that's taking a minute, and it's slowing down the postgame's development a bit. New release window for it is early 2021, as opposed to late 2020. They're still making progress though, and they posted a few new screenshots from it.
Also, there's limited run collectors editions and steelbook editions up for preorder for the PS4, Switch, and PC.

Guys this game went under a lot of radars. If you like move combos from Dad Of War in 8-bit style, with a decent plot, you'll dig this!
It's got a MMO feel to it since the plot basically revolves around a character becoming self-aware (kind of).
I still need to go back and finish the game. Highly recommend!
