Man Kayn is a champ I really want to like but I do terribly with him every time. I think I'm trying to force the transform too fast and should just focus on being decent at jungling and letting the transform happen.

@skippydumptruck and @LoserForHireX and I tried it, but we were in normals where our elo is artifically low so the strat got really messed up and we were so far ahead that the enemy got bounties, which is I believe the opposite of what was supposed to happen

I think it's cause I was playing mid and, like, if I can just run back and forth and farm two lanes, I am absolutely going to do that! How fun :D but uh, not how that comp should work given even skill levels. So I still don't know what it actually feels like to play it.

I watched the flyquest game later that night, and it didn't seem like a fun thing to play when done right

it's like MAXIMUM PRESSURE are you providing value as janna constantly ?? and fucking steamrolling everything ??! because jesus christ the top laner who is free farming is going to be a monster

and then when the game goes later, you're an additional starved support (maybe even lower level than the main support!) so you're sure hoping your carries can carry

i swear to fucking god that normal draft needs a don't pair me with 4 stacks mode.

like, i don't want to be a part of your hilarious 4 ad comp or whatever hot trash you're running. every single one of the groups is massively toxic. it's just the legitimately worst league of legends experience on offer and it makes me quit playing constantly.

it feels like a pick that's very much fun for the person doing it, it's just you're shitting on 9 other people because if you want to counterplay it you're going to have to participate in the lane switcheroo nonsense.

It's a viable strat from what I've seen, you're trading a fed enemy top laner for an advantaged mid/bot/jungle.

    Zeri is very annoyingly balanced.

Does she have ult? If no then she is garbage.

Just like, put a bit more power in her laning and less in "the team fight is over but I have literally infinite MS to make Lilia feel entierly useless so you must try to fight me"

I had a great game as Kayn finally where I got one of those "oh that's why this character is awesome" moments. I basically led them on a merry chase through their own jungle as the shadow assassin and they followed me into my team and died. It was a pretty tense and funny 30 seconds or so where I had to keep using the slow to wait out the cd on the E ability and did a loop of the enemy's red side jungle.

Also, for all the toxicity of this game, people really rally around junglers, especially other junglers. I'm relearning a lot of shit, new champions, all that, I'm very rusty and bad, I get it. Basically every time my own team yells "JUNGLE DIFF" I've gotten an opposing jungler say "hey they're doing fine. props to anyone who puts up with this shit role."

It's like a brotherhood. We all realize we're going to get shit on for not winning all lanes simultaneously and taking all objectives.

I reassured him I didn't, and that I start all my games asking everyone what they thought of the latest Olivia Rodrigo song and informing them I dab after every takedown.

That's a dumb slang though, my first thought was that it was short for "difficult" to imply the other player was struggling.

It feels like a HotS playstyle. Pick waveclear for one person and they clear waves and get swole and keep the enemies from pushing too fast while you just 4 stack one lane and hammer it down. Double enchanter has always been good.

Possibly! I am more willing to say he’s just a support main who wasn’t used to CSing while watching the enemy team. I was pretty keen on figuring out his rhythm and matching when he would stop to shoot with an E

Okay so Poppy is a fun jungler. Hitting people with that E feels SO GOOD. Had a Kha'zix try to level 3 gank me as I was warding the mid bush so he leapt onto me. Alright bud, meet the wall. YOU'RE DEAD. Different game, Volibear chased me through the river as I ran into bot tribush. He started to round the corner, oh no are you between me and a wall? HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE WALL. I really enjoy the "nahhhh, you don't need to be a part of this fight. BYEEEEEEE" as well. Her clear is fuckin great too. Super healthy, good speed, what's not to love?

I'm trying to narrow my initial pool to take to ranked to 3 champs. I don't want to repeat anyone from my WR stable since the lack of options is what kind of drove me to PC anyways. I'm down to Kayn, Poppy, Kindred, Ekko, and Zac. Real tough cuts here though.

A large part of my decision matrix might be "skin coolness" and Zac has a rough time there.

Poppy is very good in jungle, her and lilia are my mains these days.

Noping people is the greatest feeling in league of legends. Finally getting to make all those annoying dashy fuckers shut up, sit down, and get punched in the throat.

Of those I’d probably go poppy ekko zac. Tankier engage jungles are generally useful imo because nobody wants to play that sort of role, and ekko let’s you get ap to balance the 3 other ad you probably have on your team. Kindred are good, but imo they’re so feast or famine and kindred can be hard to fit into team comps and needs an insane amount of resources, and Kayn is fine but I feel like ekko does shifty dps jungler better, and zac and poppy are real characters from level 2 not 12 minutes.

Zac is so good--if you can get good at Zac you can be so influential

He does an upsetting amount of damage at full tank, and being able to (like Kayn) gank from weird angles gives you an advantage

Plus in a game where everyone loves to play assassins all the time, it's nice to be reasonably un-assassinateable

I think I'd choose Poppy, Ekko, Kayn and Zac? I don't think Kindred adds something here that you won't get from Ekko/Kayn, and then you end up with these dumb teamcomps where everyone is playing adc. But it must be aknowledged that Kindred looks the coolest of all of those, especially with the spirit blossom skin, and that's important. I'm honestly not sure between Kayn and Ekko who I'd drop--it's nice to be able to provide a source of magic damage, but Kayn is just a better jungler, I think

Kindred definitely is the most feast or famine one. I really like the playstyle but I also understand it's kind of a lot higher complexity level and I'd probably benefit from it when I understand the base jungling a bit more. You really need to know where your opponents are and be able to internalize all that info at a glance. I just like the hop in, counter jungle, hop out playstyle. I also think Kindred is the kind of champ where she'd really need me to commit to a TON of games to get competent with. It's just so fuckin cool.

I think Kayn is pretty locked, he might get the majority of my games. I just like the flexibility of the roles. That's what makes him so great, it feels like he can do EVERYTHING. Do you wanna farm and get fat and counterjungle? Sure you can do that. Do you wanna gank the shit out of people? Go nuts. Wanna be a tanky bruiser? That's an option too. It feels like there isn't anything he can't succeed at.

Zac and Poppy I don't really want to have two tanks so it feels like it's between them for that slot. I am leaning Poppy because again, Astronaut skin is on point, but HONESTLY I think Zac might just be a little better. I just wish the pool party skin didn't look like garbage.

I did also forget about Fiddle, he's my other AP jungle option with Ekko. I've had some rough games as Ekko but he's the kind of champ where you need to really know where the line is. If you push too far you just die and say "oh I never had a chance at that" but if you're not pushing it enough then you're leaving a lot on the table. I think he's the kind of champ where at some point it clicks and you have a good feel of what you're capable of at any given time. I'm not ready to write him off for Fiddle because of his higher execution floor just yet.

if I catch a kayn in my jungle before level 10 he doesn’t get to walk out because he’s going to be having a meeting with the wall. Kayn can barely farm his own jungle without getting murdered by invades haha, he ain’t a character until he gets his passive and skill evolves with form.

idk I feel like there are better scaling junglers than Kayn and Kayn has almost no agency in the early game, and your reward for that is red Kayn who is certainly good but you don’t ever get the flexibility Kayn is supposed to have because blue Kayn sucks. So why not just go with someone similar to red Kayn in the first place so you don’t rely on your team to carry you to the mid game, which is just a total coin flip.

That's interesting because everything I've read said the blue is good as well, it's just situational based on the needs of your team and the enemy comp.

And getting murdered in the enemy jungle theoretically shouldn't happen, you should be invading when you know they aren't there and then you have really fast clears and the ability to slip in and out through unexpected angles.

if you're stealing camps when you know they aren't there, they're probably making plays on the other side of the map getting laners ahead and using that prio to invade your jungle/secure objectives. early game kayn wins almost no 1v1s against good junglers so you can just bully him. obviously he's very good later on, but plenty of better early game junglers are also scary as hell late game.

personally, i'd rather play against 100 kayns before 1 kha'zix or nunu haha. at the end of the day it's just my random silver/gold opinion from playing. i don't mean to dissuade you if you want to play kayn, kayn is viable and pretty good and if you want to play him, ignore everything i'm saying. I play lilia and she's mostly terrible. but she's fun so i don't care.

My go-to junglers are Warwick, Trundle, Diana, Kayn, and Vi.
I know WW isn't what he used to be but his ability to sniff out people, esp stealthed people, gets me so many kills. The only bad thing about WW at low ELO is people don't know how to end games by 20 mins and WW starts to fall off then.

I've been really enjoying playing Kayn and Trundle lately though. You can pull off some crazy shit in team fights with Kayn.

It's funny because what I mostly do is wait for someone to be toxic and then I say something like "maybe instead of being a dick you could be nice and people would listen to your advice." The person who I called a dick probably isn't going to <3 me but the person I defended is. Also I just tell everyone to chill it's fucking normals everyone is here to learn so like don't be an ass. I'm assuming unranked games still have some sort of matchmaking but it's probably looser or something? I'm playing to kind of learn the champs and get comfortable but the level of play seems really uneven sometimes.

Would it be better to just do ranked? Will the quality change much or not really? I'm not saying everyone needs to be so much better, but maybe the skill differentials will be more narrow? Or people won't be trying as many new champs.

Also I can't possibly be expected to actually hit people with Ekko's stun outside of team fights right? I can't imagine anyone competent gets hit with it. It's more of a zoning "don't go here" tool right?
