AMC probably getting desperate
Just got an email with an offer to upgrade back to A-List for $5
Jumped through a bunch of hoops back in like... June? To cancel it because they were planning to start charging all accounts again this month, and I knew I wasn't gonna be back in a theater yet
incidentally I was about to poke around through my video game collection and see what I don't want anymore, should I drop you a line when I do? you can have first pick of anything I'm re-homing
it's been awhile since I've dug through it, I suspect I'm gonna get rid of a lot of PS3 games

Still deeply regret when I had to move like... two or three moves back? When I didn't have room for all of my media, so I had to ditch all the cases and put the discs in a few huge binders.
Left the cases with my parents, to find out that they junked them all

Holy shit, how the fuck are you worst than Apple at this?
I mean, at least, for the time being , purchased movies on Apple means you digitally own them.
Can't wait to see Amazon drop like a rock In the next few years pissing customers off.
I would be shocked if Apple doesn't have nearly identical language baked in to all digital purchases, whether you're aware of it or not.
The bad news is that by legal precedent you haven't owned the media on your DVDs for the past two decades, it's just harder for them to control what you do with it. It's certainly a big distinction, but the difference is purely practical, not legal.

I just watched Hereditary.
The movie that I got was definitely not the one I was expecting! At all! This is not a complaint in the slightest, as what I got was really good!
Big ol Hereditary spoilers below
I absolutely did not predict Toni Collette becoming a Deadite
Just started Spiral on Shudder (this is a different movie than the Saw spin-off). No idea if it's good yet, but the protagonists are a gay couple and their daughter, which I've just now realized I've never seen before in a horror movie.
EDIT: Turns out it's a horror movie about homophobia.
EDIT 2: Oh wow, this turned out to be a total mindfuck of a movie.

So I’ve been going through my rotation of horror movies and I’ve noticed a lack of found footage despite my appreciation of the aesthetic
Looking up recent stuff it doesn’t seem like the genre has had a ton of entries after Paranormal Activity kind of saturated it, does anyone have any recent recs from the last few years?

Hell House LLC is one I've heard recommended a lot lately, that's on Shudder I think
I don't know if it really counts as found footage, but there is also the new subgenre of "computer movies" like Unfriended and Host

I was gonna recommend The Last Exorcism, but then I discovered that's ten fuckin' years old and I have no idea how time works anymore
tonight I watched The Thing, which I had never seen despite loving John Carpenter and Kurt Russell and Keith David
it's obviously extremely good but BOY was I enjoying my dogs coming into the room and wanting to sit on the couch with me when I was extremely not in a Spending Time With Dogs mood

I think I’ve seen Hell House too, but I don’t remember much so that’s probably worth another watch

Found Footage 3D on Shudder. It would benefit from 3D glasses if you can manage it, even the red/blue cheapo kind. If not, don't worry about it. Shudder has it listed in 2D and 3D, or at least it used to.
I saw it at the Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival and it was a huge hit with the audience there. Went over so well that the fest invented a prize to award it.

Found footage stuff:
Noroi: The Curse
Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum
The Poughkeepsie Tapes
The Houses October Built
Creep
Trollhunter
WNUF Halloween Special
Hell House 1 is good, the sequels...not so much...
tonight I watched The Thing, which I had never seen despite loving John Carpenter and Kurt Russell and Keith David
it's obviously extremely good but BOY was I enjoying my dogs coming into the room and wanting to sit on the couch with me when I was extremely not in a Spending Time With Dogs mood
The dog in The Thing does one of the most impressive acting jobs I think I've ever seen a dog do. It's very rare that a dog can actually play sus, but that dog pulled it off.
Noroi: The Curse

Trollhunter
WNUF Halloween Special

Edit: oh yeah, Host.
The sequel to Houses October Built is also terrible but I do recommend the first.
Other recs:
- Grave Encounters 1 & 2.
- The Taking of Deborah Logan (I can't remember if this is all found footage but it's an awesome movie)
- Unfriended 1 & 2
- Afflicted (kind of a neat take on vampirism)
- The Tunnel
- As Above, So Below
- REC
- Quarantine (american remake of REC)
- Digging Up the Marrow
- The Sacrement
- Lake Mungo
- Willow Creek
- The Conspiracy
- The Banshee Chapter
To create the impression that Ed was having a conversation, Hilton initially used a thread technique he had employed for Lubin's earlier Mule films; in time, though, this became unnecessary. As actor Alan Young recounted: "It was initially done by putting a piece of nylon thread in his mouth. But Ed actually learned to move his lips on cue when the trainer touched his hoof. In fact, he soon learned to do it when I stopped talking during a scene! Ed was very smart."

still one of the decisions I'm happiest with re: physical media
this is what I *should* do but my little rat brain likes to look at the wall of boxes and would be sad if it was gone

A joke in that movie convinced 7 year old me that Mr. Ed was made to talk by inserting a carrot in his butthole.
Peanut butter on the gums, unfortunately.
