    It's best not to speculate when they don't say, wild speculation is the reason there was drama in the first place. I'd be shocked if that was it though, because covering that out of her own funds doesn't really make sense.

    So....from an outsiders perspective we never really see the girls actually feeling competative about there sub counts... But i have to think its there at some level. I noticed that Pekora is 10k subs right behind fubuki and likely to pass her up.

    Pekora might be competitive enough to actually want to be #1, but it seems a bunch of the others near the top are somewhat uncomfortable. Notably Gura, who people were begging to do celebration streams for her big numbers and she skipped all of them.

    I can't see Pekora wanting it in a competitive way. Everything we have heard about her real personality suggests a humble person with a lack of self-confidence. People like her can thrive online because the 'filter' that keeps introverted tendencies active in real live doesn't really kick in when they are in what is essentially a fantasy online life. I think shes just that good at what she does. Shes still a ways from #1 anyway.

    Marine, Aqua and Calli are also neck and neck.

    Current standings of the 1m or better club:

    I will say in the first month or so Kiara talked a bit about her insecurities due to having the lowest sub count of the EN girls and feeling like she didn't have a "niche". She seems to have gotten over that some by realizing that her being fully fluently trilingual could be leveraged to do stuff like her concert watchalong stream and Holotalk.
