Elsa was conspicuously absent from the episode even though her sister had gotten captured.
She might have fled.
I'm not sure her sister was so much captured as turned into a paste under the corpse of the "rock piggy" and then burned to ashes incapable of regenerating.
Unless she was there in the shot of the townsfolk at the end and I missed it. But she's not the type you keep alive.

No she was in multiple shots unconscious with the rest of the crew/townsfolk.

Oh. Well. She's definitely gonna keep ripping folks guts out then.
Except this is an anime so maybe she just joins the team who knows

Reading the Slime Reincarnated Webnovel pre Anime was fun but kinda ruined it for me, especially since the translators make it seem like it gets really transphobic at the end. Tho that could just be the result of shitty fan translators, but hard to say. Definitely put me off from finishing more of it. Any of that nonsense pop up in the anime?

JJK’s fights are getting me seriously hyped for MAPPA’s Chainsaw Man
If you haven't watched Mappa's Garou series, they're super good action things too, although do lean a bit heavily into Mappa's janky CGI. You don't have the excessive in-battle exposition that plagues JJK's adaptation though because Mappa (like most anime studios to be honest), is pretty awful at trimming/editing out unneeded fluff.
Well, the first and third Garous were really good. Crimson Moon was aggressively mediocre because it... how to put it... decided to very heavily chase popular trends and so leaned in very hard to having a bitchy magical girlfriend and a Scrappy Doo sidekick.
Oh shit I've been trying to find this anime ever since I saw a clip of that first youtube online. What's the full name?
...Garo (or Garou depending on your romanization): Honou no Kokuin, or Carved Seal of Flame, although upon looking it up, before Funimation realized that there were multiple, they marketed it in English as "Garo The Animation."
The Garos are like Zeldas. There's general setting similarities and a broadly shared universe, but no plot connections of any substance between them, so you can watch them in any order, or skip whichever series you want. Hell, most are live action Kamen Rider type stuff. I like Vanishing Line more than Carved Seal, but on balance, I think Seal is probably the overall stronger show. Vanishing Line has more and better highs, but it spends a long time building up a few things for its endgame which end up being really, really dumb, and doesn't utilize its kid sidekick very well after the opening bits, despite the last episode itself sticking the final landing.
Rage of Bahamut is another Mappa action show in the same vein well worth checking out.
That said, RoB has a super strong start, then flounders to a meh ending, and the sequel/spinoff season of it is a fucking fiasco. Budget and production problems out the ass and the new characters/plot are... uh... well, let's just say that there's a whole lot of slavery and racism apologia.
Thanks! Which series is that first youtube fight from?
Medieval European is Carved Seal of Flame (Honoo no Kokuin). Movie sequel is Divine Flame (in English in all versions).
Why did Shinji try to strangle Asuka again after they were both restored? Things seemed liked they were moving in a more positive direction for him until then, which makes me wonder if it was supposed to undermine Shinji's desire to restore everyone by having her appear first.
Also, why did Shinji suddenly have such a strong desire to have Asuka of all people help him in the first place?
The Evangelion TV run, taken entirely on its own, is the Firewatch/Gone Home of anime.
End of Eva kind of undermines that hot take
I have no idea what you're trying to suggest with that comparison.
Both games set up larger more mysterious stories but they end up being small and personal. In Eva, the conspiracies and eschatological theology is swapped out for a boy self actualising and recovering from depression.

With this metatextual stuff we'll never truly know, but what I surmise is that "restoring" everyone means rejecting the premise of instrumentality, which is dissolving the barriers of our existence and becoming one mind and body. The value of our individuality is intangibly essential, but with that individuality comes barriers, contrasts, conflict, and the ugliness of the human spirit, and we see an unflinching demonstration of that. Asuka accepts this, which is why she's here, why she hates it, but why she is at peace. Shinji is still in the process of acknowledging that suffering is an inescapable part of his decision to exist - something that no human has ever had before, suddenly granted to all humanity. Time will tell if they make that choice.
The elements I describe - individuality vs. synthesis and the prison of existence - are more matured and crystallized in Shin Godzilla, which lends them credence. But ultimately, it's just interpretation.
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

Ok so.

So now that I've finished Evangelion (until I can get Evangelion 1.11 and start the Rebuild series, at least), what should I watch next? I made a list a while back, so I'll just go ahead and post the ones I'm most curious about.

Black Butler
Blue Exorcist
Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken
Magia Record
Mob Psycho 100 II
SSSS.Gridman
Symphogear
Symphogear, because it is ultimately an incredibly dumb show that revels in that fact. It also has some great songs and some real hype fights/scenes.
That's super uncommon for shonen adaptations, I hadn't realized it was much more hardcore...
The Cowboy Bebop movie was also an R, which caught me by surprise cause I'd seen it several times before I purchased it so I didn't bother to check the rating. Then they carded me at the register and I was like whaa? Had to get my roommate to buy it lol.

Bebop is theoretically seinen though, correct? Vs Demon Slayer which sits comfortably in Jump.

Gridman is one of those shows that seems pretty okay for the start, then gets worse and worse when you realize what the show itself is driving at until it ends with a supremely bizarre and godawful last second twist ending.
Light spoilers
Basically, it really, really, REALLY wants you to empathize with and feel sorry for the antagonist, who is a remorseless psychopath. She gets frustrated because the good guys stop her from wantonly murdering everybody who displeases her, creates and then physically abuses slave children, attempts to destroy everything around her in a tantrum, and the show's attitude toward her is "But look how sad and frustrated she is. We've all been there. Isn't she adorable and sympathetic?" She's sad because she's not being allowed to be a genocidal maniac, you fucking lunatics. "She was manipulated!" No, she wasn't. She was given a shitload of power and used it to go on a murder spree, and when it was taken away, grabbed a knife and tried to kill people herself. Stopping her is not a 'character arc' for her, for fuck's sake.
Last second twist ending
Literally in the final closing minutes of the show, the antagonist goes "Anyway, I'm leaving this world" and it smash cuts to a live action version of her waking up. Then it ends. So, uh, apparently it was all just a dream she was having.

Yeah they're different genres, it just caught me way by surprise cause I don't think there were even any fucks in it. No nudity though a couple suggestive scenes. No violence or gore beyond what you'd see in live action PG13. I think it was a case of them over aggressively rating a "cartoon" in the early 2000s just to make sure no children watched it or something.

Ok so.

Basically the polar opposite of Eva in tone.
It's kinda like one punch man, but even better
Eizouken is also absolutely phenomenal.
If you liked Mob season 1, then season 2 is a no brainer.
First season was alright and the first couple eps of the second were not an improvement so I moved on.
For a show about using music and singing to do superpowered combat I didn’t care for the music in the show.

The manga was a spinoff to promote the anime, it didn't originate the work in this case.
If you have open theaters by that point. Sort of doubting it here.
