I want my corpse flung over the walls of the compounds the rich build as they flee climate collapse

I'd rather someone feed me through a wood chipper first. A corpse is easy to get rid of, but at least I can make a real fucking mess for them.

When the base of an entire political party has been fed lies about how anything functions it's no surprise. Any media that tries to point out how the high inflation is worldwide or how a president can't influence gas prices is screamed down as fake news.

I mean I hate higher prices while record profits are talked about in the same breath, but like ain't shit anyone can do about it they already aren't. The companies are literally making money on us blaming the wrong people.

I literally brought it up in passing conversation that the oil companies were using the Ukraine war as an excuse to raise prices and my father told me to stop bringing up politics

Like, pointing out a fundamental aspect of reality is fuckin political to some people. And by some people, I mean conservatives.

So his reality is that Biden is intentionally and personally raising prices just to trigger the cons?

My complaint today is that the predominant style in men's dress shirts seems to have become these ultra fitted, v-shaped things that I'm sure look great if you have that build but even when I was a varsity athlete with a 32" waist I was shaped like a fridge, and that's only gotten more true as I've hit my 30's and my shoulders have really filled out.

My dress shirts I got at dxl and my issue with them is the upper arms are way too big and billow around my underarms like a tent but most dress shirts don't fit my neck or chest.

What with my 22.5 inch collar

All of those pie charts about GHGs by sector that aren't defining the military as a contributing sector tell a pretty bias story. It makes it look like "transport" at 16% could be mostly civilian use. Which, lol, lmao, it's not.

You mean the problem we largely cause by feeding them cheap, rich food that also results in more methane production?

That's part of the carbon neutral beef production practice is stopping doing that.

Some dude at rehab got really upset when I offhandedly mentioned that cows were a bigger problem for the environment than cars.

    That's not true, though.

    https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/sources-greenhouse-gas-emissions

Fossil fuels are the single biggest issue.

At a glance that shows transport vs agriculture (and which is interesting because agriculture includes transport).

Also in the original statement it wasn’t about all of fossil fuels, it was about cows vs cars specifically.

A cursory Google produced this: https://climatefeedback.org/claimreview/claim-about-climate-impacts-of-cows-vs-cars-needs-a-little-explanation-financial-times/ which shows cow burps as more pronounced than cars specifically short term, but cars overtake in the long term. Though I have no idea of the rigor behind this website and this claim.

Something they focuses specifically on cows vs cars with established rigor would be interesting to read.

    https://ourworldindata.org/ghg-emissions-by-sector

This goes into more detail and specifically breaks down to Livestock & Manture at 5.8%, Road Transport at 11.9%. We'd have to from that take as a given that road transport carbon comes from >50% trucks, which I would be uncomfortable assuming given the ratio of cars:trucks on the road (a quick google suggests there are ~2 million semi trucks registered in the US, compared to 284 million cars).

It's a combination of deforestation for grazing land and methane production.

If we're going to count deforestation for grazing land for cows, we also need to count the carbon from the ships and trucks shipping cars to and from dealerships as well as the carbon produced by the plants that manufacture cars and the enormous amount of electricity they consume. If we want to be really thorough, we probably need to also consider the deforestation and removal of plant life that occurs as part of building highways and parking lots.

Which, I'm fine with an accounting looking at the sum of a thing instead of just one component, but we need to apply that to cars and cows, not just cows.

I disagree! I feel like that would be akin to adding in the carbon footprint of transporting meat, which I am not doing. The deforestation for grazing land is part and parcel to cow farming in a direct way that I don’t particularly find compelling to include shipping with in the same way.

You haven't provided any. You were given two sources, both of which disagree with your assertion, and your rebuttal was "what we if we include deforestation for cows and don't include anything else for cars," which is a thought experiment, not data.

This has gone on already longer than it's productive for. Again, you're entitled to your opinion. Just don't be surprised when people refute your opinion since the available data disagree with it.

    https://news.un.org/en/story/2006/11/201222-rearing-cattle-produces-more-greenhouse-gases-driving-cars-un-report-warns
Cattle-rearing generates more global warming greenhouse gases, as measured in CO2 equivalent, than transportation, and smarter production methods, including improved animal diets to reduce enteric fermentation and consequent methane emissions, are urgently needed, according to a new United Nations report released today.

There are a lot of articles and things like this, I have skimmed them because I am not invested enough in a casual conversation to do a deep dive.

Shit, the very first thing you linked is about US usage which is not what I was saying. At all. If you wanna move the goalposts to this just being about the US, then yes, your data is relevant. The second study has a lot of data points, but I am not seeing some of the particulars expounded on. Deforestation, manure, and cattle/livestock are included but separate terms. I cannot parse from that data exactly the comparable carbon footprint of raising livestock to cars (I use livestock here because it’s what that second link used).

EDIT: Not gonna lie, eclipse, I found your sudden tone shift in the casual conversation to be rather insulting. I didn't provide data because we were having a casual conversation about a non-sequitor of my time in rehab that I posted in my bed on my ipad.
