Holy fuck that's a good card

Ha ha ha even the score

Soul of Emancipation isn't a story spotlight but does actually explain why the Angels are flitting about. Meeting of the Five is a story spotlight, but literally showcases an event that never happened in the story and couldn't happen given the events of the story.
"Story Spotlight" is supposed to represent a key moment in the set's plotline, not just "a thing that happened within the world of the set."
This cards on this set deviate from the plotline way, way more than they usually do, if they're highlighting a random offscreen prequel moment and not highlighting the literal climax of the story.

Treasures go boom. The Angel is a pile of value too, and won't have much trouble sticking around to attack.
This common is cracked, god damn. Also I love the angel motif of "wings made of building materials"
I've got commander decks I'm considering throwing this in, because that's a great creature to start sacrificing repeatedly (or just throw at people's faces until they kill it and then I replay it for more value)
We lifegain players don't need encouraging when we've got Sanguine Bond.

Look, if you beat the shit out of someone then your combo stops. If you keep gaining life you can keep doing combos! It's win win!

that’s weird. I wonder if a secret pair got scuppered, or he was supposed to be in this one which is suspiciously card-light
As per the Weekly MTG stream, they're just trying something new with The List. You might notice that it has its normal Alara set symbol and not the one used for Secret Lairs.

seems like they're doing one-off experiments a bit more, like when hidegetsu in the last set randomly had 5 different colour variants instead of, say, a card from the set people would play
i'm pretty sure i get that templating but jesus that's a rough one on a first pass

Yeah I'm confused. So it's a go wide oblivion ring and if it happens to hit something somebody stole from you that creature gets a buff when it comes back?

I think it can exile one creature per player, and then when they come back any that enter under your control get some counters? Right?
So you can target one creature for every player, including yourself. If you target one of your own creatures, it comes back with the two counters. Like a really, really slow flicker.

Giada is going to be a popular commander I think, and just helm angel tribal decks. That's a really good ability for having creatures just get completely out of hand.

Good art, good card.

edit: interesting twist
Priest of Ancient Lore GTFO I guess. And that was the best white common in AFR or at least top 3.
if you're willing to play cards that kill the opponent you're not the ones i'm talking about

Straight up better than Containment Construct since that wording doesnt care about normal cast timing. Fun.

that dog has a lot going on for a single mana. Feels not quite as good as Shambling Ghast but in the same ballpark.
