There are power/utility discrepancies between stave types that need to be addressed, and many perks either don't synergize well with the rest of the Psyker's kit or are flatly useless (e.g. soulblaze stacks).
Recent dev notes have suggested that there are some more buffs incoming for Ogryn and Psyker by end of March.
Will be interesting to see what they decide to do.
I am working on getting my psyker up to 30. I have 2 Other 30's.
I do only play on level 3's but he seems to rip and tear. Not sure a buff is in order.
Its mostly to balance the risk / reward / effort ratio.
The psyker is always risking perils and having to manage that, along with a lot of weaving attacks from melee, ranged, and brain burst just to get to the performance of a Veteran that is pointing and clicking or tossing a regenning frag grenade.

So are they fixing it so Veteran isn't just better than everyone else at everything?--bar blowing people up with their brains cause they just use a gun for that

i mean broadly u will top damage with every class if u play it decently
ogryn is especially underrated in this category
psyker is the one whos kinda eating it rn because its just like... surge staff dumb and pointless (ppl think its good on damnation, its awful in actual shit hit fan situations on high intensity damnation because stopping 5 enemies while doing very little damage really isnt a very useful of one players time - if u want to do that there are other way better ways to do it!), purgatus staff is ok but its just a shittier flamer that has infinite ammo and some synergy with feats
voidstrike is good but u need a very specific blessing setup to get value, and even then u lose out on other stuff. trauma clunky but ok - kind of a voidstrike surge hybrid in that it does good all target damage and has pretty solid cc/knockdown
but ye they commed this week psyker/ogryn getting buffs next week so we will see

I've been waiting for the game to get polished up and for them to deliver on pre-release promises before buying. Also I was broke when it came out... Now that the game is on sale 20% off has it been cleaned up enough to be worth it at the current price?

I mean it's still got a long way to go - especially on stuff like story, which is pretty much non-existent, tho there's a lot of nice character work hanging around shorn of plot - but if you like what this game is doing its very enjoyable and the core character and enemy mechanics work v well already
talking of mechanics working well
i noticed the laspistol lets u shoot frame 1 when u pull it out
and u can swap away from it instantly too
so if ur quick with ur keyboard u can make ur shovel shoot lasers

I have about 180 hours into the game just from trying to level 1 of each class to max level, and with a minor break grinding some resources.
So the 20% off price is a pretty savvy purchase for what I would consider an easy 40+ hours of gameplay, and 100-200+ hours if you enjoy this type of game.
The actual mission gameplay is a lot of fun, with both the melee and ranged combat feeling satisfying.
Both the sound FX and Background music are great, as are the visuals.
The different disabling and special enemies add some spice to the levels.
The maps will start to feel a bit repetitive, as well as the bosses, but that should be pretty easy for the devs to create more once the progression systems get improved.
I'd really like to see resources be shared between classes, or at least currency conversion. I have more Diamantine than I can ever use because I can't use any of it without Plasteel, which I'm constantly short on. It should have been the other way around.
I hope any changes psyker does get will let me flex soulblaze/crit more.

What the game is really missing is the ability to wield a pistol and melee weapon at the same time, which is like 70% of what everyone in 40k does

If you want content, no.
If you want 40k, yes. It's fantastically well done and very polished. Voice chatter, the look of the world and weapons, the music (fantastic).
But the content is... merely fine. There's 8 or so missions that feel the same. There is no plot. It's not bad, but if the 40k world wasn't so well realised I wouldn't probably be playing the game. But I must stress how well realised the 40k world is.

Imagine playing Warframe. Now imagine playing Warframe if there was only four warframes, a very small selection of weapons (which are also frame specific), and even less of a story than Warframe a decade ago. And you get to play on Earth and only Earth. Also Earth has 3/4 of the nodes. And no open world map.
It's an incredibly fun game if you don't mind playing a really small amount of content over and over again.
If doing that irks you, like even a little bit, I'd probably suggest holding off for now.

also, lets be frank, gameplay is a lil tighter tuned than warframe
like... u actually have to play the game
im just playing it as a kind of pve fps deal and working on goofy shit
like heres a way to send doggies into the skybox consistently with the wizard staff
I think it's not quite as good as vermintide 2 was in a lot of ways. The playable characters aren't as focused so you could have multiples of the same in a lobby and the levels don't really have storylines attached or big effects to change the topography. The decision to not have ammo crates and instead have more individual ammo pickups can cause some issues with randos.
But it's 40k and the levels are gorgeous and the gameplay is fun.
Eh, they're "new" weapons that are pretty much just reskins of existing weapons. This isn't exactly the big content drop I was hoping for that would bring me back into the game. Nice to hear that psyker (hopefully) no longer sucks though.

The shotguns are neat. The lawbringer was garbage but the new ones are usable and the special ammos are nice versatility.

The Incendary shotgun might be a bit OP at the moment given how easy it slaughters specials and elites.

d5 high intensity gauntlet with lights out also very very fun.
lights out with sane enemy vision ranges makes it way better than before.
edit: I think they've basically hit close to the perfect enemy mix with gauntlet. Loads of wild shit happening but a couple of people going down or needing to rescue doesn't seem to snowball into a loss as often or as quickly as d5 vanilla hi pre-patch. Haven't done vanilla hi since the patch though so some of that may be down to enemy changes also.
Man i logged for the first time in forever; hopped on my 30 psykinetic; bought what i thought was a new sword and hopped into damnation with it...it was a fucking pocket knife...things ended..poorly... oops my bad.
I'm honestly impressed. Once i got a force sword instead of the fucking pocketknife (seriously wtf) and a flame staff my psycher has gone from by far my least favorite class to play to my favorite. It may not be "optimal" but i'm having way more fun melee'ing and close ranging the fuck out of everything with this build than my zealot with the recent buffs

I am liking the Agripinaa Combat Shotgun, the special ability slug round is a beefy hit that puts a lot of specials / elites down. I'm not a very high tier player, so maybe it completely sucks, but I'm enjoying it.
I’m having a hard time playing as anything other than an ogryn. I mean, going all shooty as a veteran is fun and all, but pulping mobs with my shockmaul and silly haircut is so entertaining.

Big patch today including some big buffs to Psyker peril usage, and some talent changes that make a soulblaze build finally pretty viable and fun.

Yeah toning down the enemy vision range has taken it from frustrating to awesome.
