I've had the skeletool for many years, it's a little heavy for me to carry around all the time, but it's extremely well-built and designed.

I have a Leatherman pocket knife that's basically one side of the classic Leatherman multi tool, it's very useful

It's got a non-serrated blade, a little scraper/very small straight screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver/bottle opener, and a big straight screwdriver

I somehow forgot it at home today :'(

It's this one, or very close to it

I've definitely been uh.. building my video collection while I start putting together a NAS. Mostly because it's easier than ripping them myself, though.

My NAS is all music, but yeah, most of the times unless it’s a bootleg or something incredibly obscure, it’s a lot easier to grab a FLAC off soulseek of a new purchase than it is to find my external CD drive in the closet, connect it up, and rip it myself.

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Yeah, I rebuilt most of my collection off soulseek the first time my drive died yeeeeears ago. Ever since then it's always lived on a RAID 5 NAS of some flavor, and I always keep at least one extra drive around ready to hotswap in incase of failure.

    I use it a lot

The Skeletool CX is legit great, I almost always have mine on me. Used to carry a Swiss Army Knife or an original Leatherman on a belt sheath, but all of that faded away with the Skeletool. Pretty light, a bare minimum of tools that are all very useful.

I accidentally sheared off one of the plier heads a few years back and they replaced it and the thing is still going strong.

They recently added some new versions with color handles, and it's tempting to buy a new one. But replacing the one I've been using for 16 years feels downright adulterous.

  • minor incidentminor incident expert in a dying field ---Registered User, Transition Team regular
The Skeletool's only flaw is that the pocket clip is some hot garbage. Otherwise it's genuinely nearly perfect as a basic multitool.

I use the Marlin spike pretty regularly for it's intended purpose, but I've found it's incredibly useful to have a hard unsharpened smooth shaped pointy bit of metal to probe and poke things in general.

A while ago I impressed a bunch of contractor guys by whipping it out while they were looking for a specific tool and deglazing a piece of glass by just getting behind the stripping and pulling down.

Edit: I also instantly broke a knot on my wife's shoe one night when we were drunk and boy howdy was she impressed. So huge value add.

Yeah, if I had my multi tool today, I could charge my earbuds!

The damn water proof rubber flappy thing is stuck shut and it has such tight tolerances that I cannot open it with my fingers, and it's tight enough that it just bent a paperclip

I have a Leatherman multitool without the knife. BMW gave them to all of the reworkers and when i quit i just brought mine home. It's not one of the fancier ones but it does get the job done. Looking at the website i am not sure if they even still make that model, it's about 3 years old.

Before I moved to Yellowknife, I worked in a warehouse, I was supervising a home delivery operation for furniture and appliances and spent a lot of time inspecting things, moving things, and clearing packaging. I bought a Leatherman multitool and it was invaluable as just a handy thing to have in that situation. That was 15 years ago. I completely forgot about the Leatherman after moving.

Last year I was doing a massive declutter and went through all the boxes in my storage area and lo and behold, sitting in a box was my old Leatherman multitool. I was surprisingly pleased to have it back.

I got a sling bag as an employee appreciation gift last Christmas. It is a pretty cheap bag but i wanted to see how it felt carrying it around. After 10 months i decided i like it so i just ordered a Timbuk2 to replace it with. Always heard good things about their products here and elsewhere so hopefully i like it when it gets here!

Bro I have offered to steal the original for you. It's in my old hotel. I can go do it tonight.

    Isn't the original enormous?

Also I'm not certain what the charges would be for smuggling art across state lines but I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze?

I'm no Danny Ocean ya know

No one is stealing it, I'm simply acquiring it for the Uriel museum of Album arts.
And yeah it's pretty massive. But I've always wanted to do a thomas crown.

30-50 wild marlins, variable depending on wind and current.
