Anyways here's some not Gundam shows I'm liking this season
Skip & Loafer - The most wholesome shit I've ever seen. I'm probably going straight to the manga when the anime finishes, which I don't do often. Superb voice acting and OP. 10/10.
Dangers in my Heart - Expected to hate this one based on the first episode. The premise actually still kinda annoys me. Main character thinks of himself as the school shooter type and vaguely plans to murder people in his school. Turns out over the course of the anime (and I mean they actually drop that shit after episode one) you learn he's more likely chuuni and just being an edgelord to protect himself from being hurt. Of course with the power of a very cute girl who may or may not have an eating disorder, he realizes he's actually a normal kid just like, with bad social anxiety. It's just ok. Too horny.
My Clueless First Friend - Also very wholesome, but honestly it was better early on as the One! joke wears thin pretty quickly. I have a feeling this is aimed at younger kids, but there's a few nice moments in here. Better than the previous one!
Rokudo-kun's Bad Girls! - this is a weird gag anime about a kid who gets a curse place on him (complete with pentagram on his forehead) that makes all the delinquent girls around him instantly fall in love. So the most badass girl immediately claims him and thus begins a weird gang war at this school of bad kids, including a roaming all girl biker gang... Anyways this is goofy but the art style is very strange...
Insomniacs After School - Vibey, cute, nice music, and an interesting story about getting into photography, but also has a surprising amount of heart. I like the character designs a lot here. Kinda reminds me of Call of the Night or Smoking Behind the Konbini With You
The Galaxy Next Door - The concept here is pretty out there, as literal star crossed lovers meet while working on their shared passion; drawing manga! The theme of the season continues to be "Wholesome as fuck" and this is no exception. The intro song sums up the themes of the show pretty well, as it just lists things you'd wanna do with your loved ones on a perfect day off.
Oshi No Ko - Probably gonna be the most popular of this season, and for good reason. It has pitch perfect pacing, even if the nearly feature length first episode seems daunting at first. But yeah I'm impressed with the whole thing, the animation is really nice in that it knows when to go for the money shot + beat drop. Voice work is really stellar, the soundtrack is just, yeah that's nice. All around banger. I was skeptical at first but it won me over by navigating some tricky stuff. 9/10
I'm probably forgetting one or two it's really early but I'll come back if I remember them
Posts
Meandering post-apoc setting, gorgeously animated, the leads are genuinely likeable, and the horror elements are well paced, fun, and satisfyingly disturbing for the setting
It's otherwise a show perfectly targeted at me
and then uh oh whoops! there's the sexual assault for laughs! and the child sex! whoops tee hee whoops!

Sure, I just actively tried not to say 'no Gundams allowed'
Maybe I'll make the WfM thread, with blackjack and hookers
It's good! I enjoy the characters and relations between them, I enjoy the atmosphere, I enjoy the visual style and character designs, and I like that it is pretty much Sekiro x Full Metal Alchemist type of story, when looking at it's main plot points.
So here's a secret I've never told anyone. I don't care for mecha anime. Not sure why. Just never clicked with me. Bounced off of Gundam et al. entirely. I understand this makes me unqualified as an anime fan (N.B. kidding).
I don't understand why Chainsaw Man got kicked out of the thread but Witch from Mercury hasn't, but there's maybe another month of WfM until it's over? Can probably make it with the thread being unreadable on Sundays a few more weeks, no?
cool post

I mean, we already had that discussion, and it was pretty much decided we didn't need to keep splintering off every show that's popular into its own thread, since it minimizes an already niche thread into even more splinters, it already chased off CSM talk into a thread that's nothing but spoiler tags.
I love mecha and have a modest model collection. But I did mention a few times I'm waiting to binge it once it's all out so, the constant pages of spoiler dodging is just tiresome. It's not like, even a bad thing that the show is so popular it warrants its own thread so I don't get the pushback
Anyways here I made an open spoiler WfM/Gundam anime thread
https://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/247650/the-open-spoiler-gundam-the-witch-from-mercury-thread
So you just went and did it anyway, on top of the fact that we already have a Gundam thread? We're lucky to even have an anime thread back, now having four+ threads in the same board feels like just asking for having the privilege removed.
CSM got its own thread on request by people who thought the thread was overrun with spoilers for one very popular show. It solved that problem immediately. Once the anime resumes the anime is open spoiler, the manga tags are for anime only folks
Yes the fact there is separate thread also being dominated by WfM spoilers I'd like to look at, seems like it's more than warranted right
man that show had style for days but after watching it I could not begin to tell you what actually happened, at all in it
It's not like people weren't being careful about posting tags, and it was only for a day or so, but whatever.
Why even have an overall thread if every popular show has to get chased off into its own topic?
(And on top of that, you're making the discussion thread for a show you haven't even watched yet?)
And right from the jump, your thread already has a hostile tone, not even containing any content about the show. It seems like it's less you want to encourage talk about the show and more you want to keep the thread from being inconvenient for you.
I'm not subbed to that thread, shocking I know. You can make a thread and not sub to it.
The overall thread has not been dominated by say, Oshi No Ko at all despite being one of the most popular of the season. Like I said go back to last thread and count how many WfM spoiler posts made up the last say, ten pages. It's dozens of posts
I gave people who like the show plenty of chances to make their own, this is what ya get
I went ahead and counted: 22 posts, all of which were spoiler tagged, not even two dozen.
You seem hellbent on blowing this out of proportion.
"Well no one thought the show needed a new thread, so I'll just deliberately make a terrible one". Great look.
I honestly don't get the pushback. Whenever a star wars or MCU movie dominates a movie thread, they get told to go make their own. This is the same thing. The fact you know people are talking about this, in spoilers, in multiple places, seems to me you recognize maybe an open spoiler common space is needed.
Yes, again, WFM discussion barely takes up a page or two, then quietly dies off. It didn't need its own thread and still doesn't. Most of the other posts were about Re:Zero, not even WFM.
Because A, we've already talked about it multiple times and the community agreed it didn't need one, and then B, you went and did it anyway, in the most low-effort, hostile way imaginable.
Multiple posters said it was fine, but whatever, if you want to do it, at least put forward more than three seconds of effort, it might come across that you care about the show and aren't doing it just to be hostile to the community.
and I haven't even started all the shows I bookmarked for this season. The backlog crunch is real.
Is that a show about being Isekai'd into a vending machine
As we've learned at Monday night anime club, I just can't enjoy a mech anime. Something like SSSS.Gridman will put me to sleep.
We're watching Escaflowne at the moment and that might be the biggest a robot can get with me still being interested in that element, within a show?
Gotta be something connected to how I just find properties like Godzilla boring.
That said, I did enjoy Big O but that giant robot shows up for maybe two minutes out of every episode.
BIG O BIG OOO BIG OOOOoooOOOoooOOOOooo
DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUN
Big O is probably one of my favorite shows ever.
This is about where I'm at.
The only large scale robots I've cared for were Gurren Lagann (which are galaxy scale), and I famously hated the ending of the series, while loving basically everything up until the end.
The CSM thread was also the result of general consensus of the whole thread, because the amount of CSM talk was both overwhelming and confusing, as both anime and manga discussions were occurring. Not at all comparable.
It's poor form to make a thread about a show you aren't even watching with a no-effort shitpost OP, and demand everyone who is watching it to GTFO because you personally don't care for it, knowing that the meta-discussion around your unilateral actions is going to sour people on G-Witch talk.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
I dare say that if CSM chat returned to here it wouldn't be anywhere near as overwhelming as it was then. I also expect that once WfM has finished airing, it'll quiet down a bunch too. Especially since it doesn't have an ongoing manga as well.
anime thread, choose my fate
Bro I wanna watch the show but people constantly talking outside of spoilers like they're being cute or something is reason enough for its own thread. Y'all aren't as clever as you think I promise. The attitude around keeping the talk in the general thread has mostly been, from the people currently caught up, "well it doesn't bother me" like no shit duh
either so endearing or stupid thst I cant not love it.
This Villian is all "Haha this magic barrier will let me kill the king and then frame the guy who thwarted my plans twice and lives in a hell forest with monsters stronger than an army who will surely be helpless !"
Like dude come on.
