Reviews of Planet of the Apes are kinda mid. I guess that's fine.

It's at 86% on RT and 64 on MC, that seems a bit better than mid. Not as good as the Caesar trilogy, but still looks pretty good.

Watched 1960s dark comedy What A Way To Go, an Edith Head costume designed film with one of the most stacked casts I've ever seen.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh2MVtfeljQ

Shirley MacLaine, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, Dick Van Dyke, Gene Kelley and Dean Martin.

Cool premise, solid movie but…they used AI images?

    Fuck that.

Various Warner execs sure seem to think America clamors for solo Gollum outings

I am not sure why they are under this impression, yet here we are

This is his side hustle now. His actual career is more restoring ww2 and ww1 planes and sticking lasers onto them so they can play plane laser tag with each other.

I'm still surprised the turnaround in these things and the expectations that they are gonna be as good as they can be.
George lucas at his most crazy made star wars movies at a pace of one every 3 years not counting years of story crafting. Jackson took years writing and filming before the first one came out
A new middle earth movie in less than 2 years? Impossible

You gotta strike while everyone still has Gollum game fever.

I mean, it's obviously still all the rage, but how long will people stay obsessed with it? Two, three years?

Being directed and written by Michael Sarnoski is the only reason I'm even considering seeing it. Seems like Krasinski has way less involvement in this one which is a big plus.

We should have just let Ralph Bakshi do Return of the King, that was the better timeline

The visual aesthetic of Rankin/Bass The Hobbit is entirely my shit. Still the best adaptation and it ain’t close.

In fact, probably the best 2009 movie set on a boat.

I’m enjoying it. It’s not a premise I’m unfamiliar with but it is one that I enjoy.

Right now it’s all going to be about how it lands at the end.
